  1. Ran a few of these last night (none advertised as a 'Mo'), but unfortunately due to some freak disconnects on my part, I wasn't able to nab any badges.

Hopefully, ISP issues will be resolved tonight and I'll be in the D awaiting any runs. Master runs are preferred, so if you need a T4'ed out Scrapper who can listen to directions, look up Spine.shank.
  2. Midnight Dodger is the last badge I need for the Master. If there's room, I'd like to tag along with Spine.shank.
  3. My main toon is a Spines/DA Scrapper. Ever since I've rolled a Dark Armor, no other sets have ever looked quite as good. That being said, I'm not sure I agree with some of the 'Cloak of Fear' supporters here.

By the numbers, Cloak of Fear is arguably the worst power in the game. Yes, worse than Flurry and Jump Kick. Specifically:

-50% base accuracy: if you slot CoF with 3 lvl 50 acc IOs (or equivalent), it'll bring the acc juuust to 100%, meaning you'll almost always hit even-con minions. Fighting bosses or something higher than your level? Better hope you have set bonuses or friends with +tohit powers. But terrible accuracy is just the start of CoF's issues.

-Its fear doesn't stack. It works on minions and only on minions.

-8' radius. Obviously not worse than Oppressive Gloom or many other powers, but it exacerbates the biggest issue, which is...

-5-second activation period. This means that Cloak of Fear only fires or "ticks" its effects once every 5 seconds. That to-hit debuff that everyone loves on CoF? Assume CoF fires on count 0. Your enemy runs towards you on count 1, attacks on count 2-3, runs again on count 4. How much to-hit debuff did he get from CoF? 0% - his actions took place entirely between ticks. The small radius and long activation period work together to severely limit CoF's effectiveness.

To each their own however, every little bit helps survavability. My Spines/DA has a super-tight build, once taking OG over CoF, I've never looked back. Want a To-Hit Debuff? Absolute Amazement: Chance for ToHit Debuff fits into OG
  4. A little late to the party, but I've just IOed my DM/Ene Stalker and it does stellar in RV. With the upcoming changes, it will only get that much better. Overload is your crown jewel: 3 minutes of godmode. I've already sparred with 3 KM scraps and a few Blasters and made it out alive; That added Elusivity is what makes it. It's not too bad price-wise either! Tried and tested, see what you think:

NOTE: Conserve Power is there for the upcoming Energize replacement, which I plan to 5-slot Doctored Wounds in.

I went Masculature for Alpha (obvious reasons)
    Reactive for Interface (Again obvious)
Ion for Judgement (I like the radius potential with a chain, not to mention the chance for hold is pretty sweet)
Ageless for Desinty (Gets Overload back quicker, and adds a full end bar when OL crashes)
    Lore? I'm still debating :P
  5. A little late to the party, but I don't believe anyone mentioned the Pillbox-Kill method, which should be faster than logging on/off.

Grab a heavy and then head to the nearest neutral pillbox (Much shorter distance than enemy drones). Have all armors turned off, stand in the middle so all 4 turrets have a shot, and you'll be dead in seconds.

Both heroes/villains have a heavy spawn as well as a pillbox right near their base.

This method, there's no need for a friend, tedious retyping of your password, zoning, or treks across the map.

If you get lucky, maybe someone will gank you on the way to the pillbox, to save you some time!
  6. He's actually quite well-known, at least for EST players.

Normally leads very successful weekly Hami Raids and TFs here and there.

Doesn't bother me one bit, this was your thread bud, not mine. Not seeing things from anothers perspective is just blatant ignorance and is a response to an act that someone wants to turn a blind eye to. You sound American. To each their own.

When speaking of current times (i.e. - Sunday), it's a *bit* more productive to first look at what's been happening *recently*. Doing Hamis pretty steady for 6 months on Freedom lets me have a pretty accurate view of how Hami Raids happen NOW, not "back in the day." I'm sure a lot of stuff happened in old Hami Raids, like a PB soloing Hami Pre-ED. That happened, but it doesn't give an accurate description of what happens now, ditto to your recollections, unless they've happened in a recent window and on a pug. I'm not saying you havent been participating in recent Hami Events, but surely you don't believe that pug Hamis often have costume contests in the pit.

Ah, and now the insults begin full swing. Having a productive conversation at this point is obviously lost, so I'll leave my thoughts there and be done with the measuring of E-Peni. Destiny Buffs seem to have been indeed the cause of lag, so apparently Hami Leaders aren't as dumb as some pompous 'since-beta,' 'people that matter' players think they are.

Hope to see you all at the next Hami Raid, where we will indeed be able to use Destiny buffs, but will surely find something to call someone out on. Word on the street is that Lore Pets buff Mitos! You heard it here first.

EDIT: Global's @spine.shank Feel free to note and star, I find that's the best way to keep dibs on the populace!

  8. I think this is actually a very valid debate, fiery comments aside.

Unfortunately, it seems like all of the logic falls apart if Destiny buffs do end up being part of the problem. Posi's statement, I agree, is too vague to argue either way really. Pulling to either side would be pure speculation on what we perceive to by a "quality" post, when in reality it was probably something Posi made with the intention of people NOT pulling it apart word-by-word. If you read further down in the thread, quite a few people mention Destiny being the culprit. Does that mean it is? NO! But the answer might not be as clear-cut-not-destiny-powers as you seem to think it is. Anyway, on to topics that CAN be discussed:

While I'm sure you've seen some Hami drama in your day, I can safely say that (With the exception of a few ouro portals) everything has been pretty drama-free, for at least quite a few months. The presence of a few "good times" hardly merit a frequency. Seems like quite a few of those were your own doing as well, so hardly seems like the social norm of the hive-mind, although I do like the CC idea Just because we're labeled Freedumb doesn't mean we have to make it so.

The recurring attitude of "communistic-leader" is from people who don't follow directions. And can you blame them? Did you happen to see how many people kept fighting Hami after the second bloom? Legitimate question and not meant to rhetorical. Literally half the league. If leaders really were that trivial, stuff like that would not happen. Not many PuG Hamis can fight through the second bloom.

While hardened vets know what to do, not everyone does. We had a new person in the raid in question, the last member that joined the Scrapper team. You're only as fast as your slowest members. Just because some of the "Elite" were there doesn't mean there needs to be a lack of communication. And just because you may think the return of destiny buffs are needed, be prepared to be called out on it if you ignore it without question.

Smear their character if they don't obey. Classy. If you are really that offended by teaming with "people like that" you should strip your toon of that Master of the Lambda title until you earn it again without their help.
Hypocritical perhaps, but more than a little sad. I would expect the guys who ran that fantastic MoLam last week to have more tact than what was shown on Sunday. Maybe if the player would have made a legitimate argument as to the validity and usefulness of the power, maybe it would have sat better with everyone. But in typical fashion, it was done "in the secrecy of a crowded Hami" so it looked malicious. He could have made it a non-issue, but he did not. He continued to do it and didn't defend his actions (I know, I know, he shouldn't HAVE to defend his playstyle, but with half the league telling those people to stop, it helps). Like someone who accidentally drops an Ouro on the field, people would be much happier hearing a "Yeah guys, that was me," than a teammate seeing it and calling them out for it.

When I say griefing, I don't mean I need, or even want to, petition someone. Like stated, the player last raid was using the power in correct fashion. When I say griefing in this scenario, I mean blatantly not following orders despite many asking not to. I can see disregarding one or two people if the topic at hand is trivial, but the amount of pleas last raid? Just stop doing it, if nothing but to shut people up.

Obviously I can see the where the emotion is emanating from since this was a friend. I'm sorry it ended up the way it did, I am, but you need to understand that from my perspective, and everyone else who was trying for a nice, smooth Hami Raid, this person looked like one of the bad guys.
  9. You do realize that "we did something weird with Leagues" can include how destiny buffs work. With leagues. Right?

And you did ill to address my concerns on people who don't follow directions, no matter how obscure it may be (Which it's not obscure, majority of the people last night agreed).

But you keep teaming with people like that.

That person's probably one of the people who holds on to Acid Grenades during the Lambda too, because they're pretty and he collects temps. But that's okay, because you can still complete it with all portals up, even though the team gets pissed and you make it a lot longer than it has to be (See what I did there?)

Like stated, if you don't like the way it's run, don't join it.

Had quite a few people who shot me tells thanking me for spotting one of them. If being banned from "League of the Extraordinary Bunnies" events is the backlash I get, sign me up. (Just kidding, I woulda signed up for that even without backlash). Bunnies? Virtue --->

The reason we have, or rather, need Hami Leaders, is because a Raid of that magnitude needs organization. Always has. Unless you have a Closed Hami or run with nothing but vets who share a beating heart, you need guidance, you need boundaries.

It is whenever it accomplishes nothing but pissing people off. Using Ouro to teleport is using the power as intended, but putting it near Hami so people can "use" it sure is griefing. One could argue they're putting it there in case someone wants to leave, but it's the devil's advocate just like people protecting Destiny Powers and their "must-have-it-or-die" attitudes. Barrier during a Hami Raid? Guess what the benefit from that is? Nothing. Clarion/Rebirth/Ageless? Those powers will net some return, but not so much whenever the server lags so much that a power fires off every 15 seconds and makes taking down a Mito last 4 times longer than it should. I'd rather wear my birthday suit and live lag free than have buffs I can't benefit from due to server lag (And it is indeed server lag. Hex Core processor and 12 gigs of DDR3 usually doesn't see much lag).

And that's the perspective of someone who was able to finish the raid. There were many people there that were in line 30-45 minutes before the "official" team-forming that DCed and couldn't get back in due to people camping the door in Eden. I'd be pissed off if I went through 3 blooms only to be disconnected due to someone trying to "stick it to the man."

There is no such thing is blackballing from a Hami. One hit and they get the rewards everyone else does. What is possible is kicking them from the league so they can't hear raid instructions. Again, pitiful for most Hami vets as they know what the queue is.

More importantly, the star system works great. You see them on all their alts, and if the original offense was that deplorable, you got yourself some real opportunities for Blackballing someone, via TFs, Trials, or the general mockery of "I remember you, you're the one that made Hami last an hour longer than it should have."

    ----

I'm guessing part of this message was meant for me, because of my blatant broadcast of one of the offenders.

Who am I, or anyone else to tell someone how to play their toons? With that disclaimer out of the way, a Hami Raid is hardly the venue to not listen to directions and be "non-conformist." You wanna do that, join another Hami Raid that doesn't mind failing.

The person last night heard the pleas, from Hami Leaders and civvies alike, and decided to ignore it. Not only that, but behind the scenes he sent nasty tells to everyone saying that WE were banned from THEIR SGs events and to not tell him how to play his toon.

That kinda devotion to ***-hattery deserves some attention. If they don't like the way the Raid Leader is running the show, feel free to leave and let one of the poor people that WILL listen to directions in.

And even if it is something with Leagues, Destiny Powers make a huge difference regardless. At the end of the Hami when we only have one or two of em firing off, it was much better than we originally started. Definitely not a coincidence, anyone who has ran a Post-I20 Raid more than once can tell you that.

    My two cents.

    The Build Thread

Hell, might even be good to add a "purpose" header. Despite price range from budget/hotrod/godbox, you also have multipurpose/farmer/PvP...

Or maybe I'm just getting too detailed :P Regardless, I got a tried-and-true Spines/Dark I'll upload when I get home. Might even include a mini-guide on why I took the powers I did/how to maximize productivity. I like the goal of this thread, but I think it's been tried before. I'll contribute anyways.

Thank you BOTH for leading, and thanks to Myr for setting this up despite not running. I think you're being a bit to hard on yourself. While I don't wish to take any glory away from Leo, these teams, ours especially because it was made up of "veteran" players of some sort, pretty well know what to do and are able to do it with minimal guidance. We had the Q&A before start, everyone knows to stomp turrets and mobs, then all the lead has gotta do is decide what team goes to labs/warehouse, and we all known to gank Marauder. It's pretty "simple,"
the main thing the lead normally has to do is pick ATs, which was pretty much already done for us.

You both did awesome and I thank you both for treading the way. You'll notice that despite my opinion on how easy it is to lead one of these, I didn't step up, as I'm not yet sure that what I say is truth or what I perceive as truth Great teams though, both of them!

  14. I really hope, optimistically no doubt, that what happened was by mistake, albeit I highly doubt it. Since I normally run with the 'Pug' crowd since I'm not in any uber-leet circles and enjoy the thrill of a random group of strangers, I really hate to see things like this happen, when so much organization went into it. Especially since this group comprised of a lot of Freedoms most trusted names, I really hope this doesn't push anyone into the 'Elitism' mindset that I see happen too often, the pompous "I only team with SG mates."

I know this setback obviously doesn't encourage my statement, but I really enjoyed running with you guys despite not having done so very often in the past (Had a lot of 'lol' moments, good to see people with the same type of humor as myself). Don't completely alienate, just be....cautious. And obviously be more vigilant of the "lob hand back to throw a grenade" gesture so we can one-star where appropriate, I know I will. (Just as I'm always on the watch for the "keypad on the wrist to open Ouro during a Hami" emote).

As Scrappers are almost always the ones NOT needed in Masters runs, please keep me in mind for any future runs. It's not likely I'll get this from anywhere else, unless I'm lucky enough to find a team that needs damage rather then debuffs. While I'm obviously one of the ones you guys can't necessarily vouche for since I'm not one of the 'regulars,' I hope that at least a quick look at my badge list would show you I am serious about doing this right.

It's more than possible to unlock all T4s without running either trial, and you can do it at your own pace and with minimal influence. Since Shards drop at all levels now, and with a 10:10 shard-to-thread ratio every 20 hours, you never need to raid, or farm. Sure, it'll take longer than most people, but everyone needs to realize it's not a race to unlock these things.

After about 7 days, those few guys that had level 53 the day I20 launched? You won't be able to tell them apart from the people who did it with SIGNIFCANTLY less shards/threads/influence.

But hey, those 7 days spent standing in Atlas showing off that nice +3? I'm sure that was worth a 5:10 shard-to-thread ratio, 2 billion influence and grinding for about 800 shards before launch :P

Not sure where exactly you're coming from with that, but if it's because your getting discouraged because of shotty PuGs, I found a good rule of thumb:

Stay AWAY from the Team-Up Teleporter. I've had nothing but bad luck with that. Pocket D is now the official hook-up place, and a good place to go to grab a quick, FULL team. Whats nice, is these can be cherry-picked to take what is NEEDED.

I was pretty discouraged day one of release. About 5 failed BAFs and 3 failed Lambdas. At the end of the night, I did squeeze out one Lambda win.

Yesterday? 3 Successful Lambdas and 2 Successful BAFs. People are already seeing what works and what doesn't.

If you're having a hard time finding a quality team, shoot me a tell on Spine.shank if you see me on. The team I've been running with (Was the same all night last night, they run a LOT), has a stellar success rate.

I think it's very important also for all of us that ARE going after the Mo badges, to work towards those level shifts. I know Judgement/Interface I'm only slotting T1, and then my focus will be on the level shifts that come with Lore/Destiny. This will make both Trials INSANELY easier than what we're experiencing now.

Being +2 levels then we are now, combined with strategies that will emerge as people learn the bells and whistles of the new trials? It's not gonna be as hard as we're making it out to be.

  21. I would love to get in on this. Please keep me informed! If we're setting up a channel or the like, global is @Spine.shank.
  22. While I'm sure melee is the last thing you're looking for, I'll be on-hand in the extremely off-chance you'd need an extra body. Level-shifted T4 IOed Spines/Dark Scrapper who has ran the STF more times than I care to comment on.
  23. I'm new to the Stalker game. I have been PvPing with a Bane, and enjoy the freedom of picking my fights (even the cheap-ish ones). I'm still learning all the ins-and-outs of PvP, so I did want something that was easier to play and could hold up it's own in a fight (I'm terrible at fleeing for some reason, even with beefed up speed).

I asked my friend who is pretty good with Mids to make me a budget build of a PvP Stalker that could take a beating as well as be a productive fighter. I was expecting a build I see a lot out in the field (KM/Regen, Ele/WP, stuff like that). He comes back to me with a DM/Energy, and gives some reasoning as to his picks. While he's good at Mids, he isn't a uber-hardcore PvPer, so I thought Id get some advice from the masses. Without further ado, here is his reasoning:

Unlike many other combos, Dark/Energy should provide you some killing power and survivability without breaking the bank. Despite its lol reputation, Energy has some tricks that other sets don't. You've got an endurance-recovery power that also has a chance to debuff your opponent (it's autohit too), total teleportation protection, very respectable typed defenses, and Overload. For 3 minutes, Overload gives you tons of endurance, unbelievable defenses, capped HP, and best of all: more Elusivity! Overload combined with Hibern00b, capped stealth, and overbuffed runspeed (to help work around travel suppression) should make for a very robust stalker.

On the offensive side, Dark Melee also has some good points: stacked to-hit debuffs complementing Energy Armor's defenses, DoT tentacles from Midnight Grasp (helps interrupt the dreaded Aid Self), a self heal that doubles as an attack, and a nice helping of rarely-resisted Negative Energy damage.

Here is his build. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, as this is my first Stalker and I'm still learning me on some PvP.
