The "Heavy" Series of Badges in RV

I was just curious what folks felt was the most efficient way to achieve Temporal Agent, Temporal Spy and Temporal Soldier?

if you have a friend on the opposing side just camp out one of the heavy spawns, as soon as you can just set it to passive and have your friend kill it (fastest method)

if you are by yourself, you can either take the heavy to the nearest pillbox and just set it to passive and let the little turrets kill it (takes a while due to its high hp) or drone it (takes awhile if you do not have sb to make it walk across the map faster and depends on which side your on), if your red side the topmost heavy spawn will be the best because you can just take it over to the hero base and usually takes about 1-2 min for it to get there, for hero im not sure which heavy would be the best because ive only done this on a villain lol

rinse and repeat till you have the badges

if you are on victory then i would not mind helping with them

Go in, grab Heavy, leave zone. Lather, rinse repeat.

It's tedious, but there it is. (Used to be you could release and re-control the Heavies, but that loophole was closed up a long time ago.)

Slightly modified. Gets it to 35-40 seconds per heavy.

Hmmm, didn't think of that, though it seems obvious.

Ewwww. Although efficient, that method seems... distasteful. But, I didn't ask for the method that feels least like cheating and isn't passive, did I?

Huh. I'd just get myself droned or offer "free kill" in broadcast.

Here's a question, though: Why did the Heavy badges not get "fixed" so the last badge was 100 captures like the Pillbox badges (which were already team-wide anyway) in Black Scorpion's big badge reduction of i15?

prolly cause heavies are so much easier to farm than pillboxes lol

Well, it isn't exactly passive. Unless you can log out, log in, click on the heavy terminal, and repeat. Any methods to do that would involve some pretty hefty out of game macros and would be cheating.

As Necrotech_Master implied I sure more people whined about needing too many pillboxes than too many Heavies. Heavies only seem "too many" now because it's the larger of the two requirements - there was a time when Heavies seemed like the "reasonable" one of the two.

Heck no... my Stalker was at over 400 Pillboxes when the change went live, but only like 20-some Heavies. The reason is, again, that Pillboxes count for everyone on your team, while Heavies only count for you.

I only know where one Villain Heavy is off the top of my head (near the train station), and it's always gone.

Badge-Hunter/Vidiotmaps to the rescue:

Recluse's Victory map.

I guess passive was the wrong word. I guess what I meant was, I am not actually playing the game using that method... in fact, I am using the fact that I am not IN the game to acquire an easier route to a reward.

But, I suppose the same issue was raised with Day Jobs... but at least those were INTENDED to be earned in that way.

Le sigh.

That isn't quite accurate either. I'll agree that logging out isn't the way it was intended to be achieve. However I can say the same for getting yourself or the heavy killed on purpose as well (outside of trying to actually PVP or take out the pillboxes).

if you look at it that way, almost nobody gets the pvp related badges the "intended" way lol

Well, nominally, the Pillboxes, Signature AVs/Heroes, PVP kills badges, the PVP missions, the explore badges, Gunner (Shivans), and Warburg Rockets all have elements of PVP in them. The PVP missions are the hardest not to get them in the intended way (except on dead servers). Lack of PVP on some servers means that some of the badges are open to get.

However there does come points where both sides aren't attacking each other, but instead helping the other side. I've seen it happen with Pillboxes, Shivans, Nukes, Heavies, and the Signature AVs/Heroes. That goes against the spirit of the badges, if not the letter of the rules for the badges. Heck I've even seen pvp kill farms.

Feel free to go do it the less repugnant way, then come back and let us know how long it takes for you to switch to the more "efficient" way.

i know technically the logout method is the most efficient, but its prolly IMO the least fun way to do this badge since it involves the constant logging out and load screens and whatnot

i actually got my heavy badge through using the method for having someone kill me or my heavy or droning the heavy

the having someone kill you would prolly be efficient if you used the heavy spawn that was closest to your base while the droning method works for the spawn point closest to the enemy base, droning is very efficient if you have either yourself or a friend sbing the heavy

Yeah, I see your point about the PvP badges in general. Just to make it clear, my issue is not really with the method... but with the fact that acquiring said badge feels diminished because of the method used. That isn't to say I won't do it that way... unless I LOVED Recluse's Victory... there is NO WAY I would ever be able to get 250 Heavies in anything even close to an "intended" style of play.

On the note of Heroes helping Villains... I traded pillboxes with a Hero Tanker in order to help both of us move toward the capture badges. Of course, that was only AFTER I royally kicked his butt that he offered a "no fire" policy and that we assist each other.

Heh... not likely. I have gone about both methods, and will continue to use both. I will acquire Heavies as per intended and use them until they die when I am in RV with friends to get Pillboxes or help friends get the AV badges... and will go the log out method when I have a bit of time to kill and want some quicker progress. No way in heck could I stand to sit there and do EITHER method for very long in a solid stretch of time.

The getting killed method would work rather well if you were ALSO helping each other to get the badge for Killing Players.

They do NOW (and did at first for a short time IIRC)...but they were single-character only credit for the longest time...

I got 5-10 at a time over the course of a year.

Yeah, some kinda timescale like that is certainly doable... though I dunno if I have the tenacity to stay at it over that long of a timespan. Though, I have stayed on badges in general for a VERY long time. Maybe I will surprise myself.

You young whippersnappers and your badges that count for everyone on your team... I earned Back from the Future when you needed 1000 pillboxes -and- they did NOT count for teams. Of course I also earned it back when you could get a pair of players (one hero, one villain) to camp a single pillbox and simply click on it back a forth even while you were lying next to it dead. Darn those Devs and their silly fixes.
