I'm new to the Stalker game. I have been PvPing with a Bane, and enjoy the freedom of picking my fights (even the cheap-ish ones). I'm still learning all the ins-and-outs of PvP, so I did want something that was easier to play and could hold up it's own in a fight (I'm terrible at fleeing for some reason, even with beefed up speed).
I asked my friend who is pretty good with Mids to make me a budget build of a PvP Stalker that could take a beating as well as be a productive fighter. I was expecting a build I see a lot out in the field (KM/Regen, Ele/WP, stuff like that). He comes back to me with a DM/Energy, and gives some reasoning as to his picks. While he's good at Mids, he isn't a uber-hardcore PvPer, so I thought Id get some advice from the masses. Without further ado, here is his reasoning:
Unlike many other combos, Dark/Energy should provide you some killing power and survivability without breaking the bank. Despite its lol reputation, Energy has some tricks that other sets don't. You've got an endurance-recovery power that also has a chance to debuff your opponent (it's autohit too), total teleportation protection, very respectable typed defenses, and Overload. For 3 minutes, Overload gives you tons of endurance, unbelievable defenses, capped HP, and best of all: more Elusivity! Overload combined with Hibern00b, capped stealth, and overbuffed runspeed (to help work around travel suppression) should make for a very robust stalker.
On the offensive side, Dark Melee also has some good points: stacked to-hit debuffs complementing Energy Armor's defenses, DoT tentacles from Midnight Grasp (helps interrupt the dreaded Aid Self), a self heal that doubles as an attack, and a nice helping of rarely-resisted Negative Energy damage.
Here is his build. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, as this is my first Stalker and I'm still learning me on some PvP.
