  1. Dunno if i'll the transition or not, the stories will all depend what happens to this game, and what happanes at the very end, i we cannot manage to save it.
  2. Heh found one that a member of the supergroup my main is in, The Guardian Force (Virtue Server) made. Thought I would share.

  3. Way back in the City of Villains Beta (and well before a villain of the same name started appearing in the Pocket D for the ganymede events) I made the 'Lawyer From Hell' necromancy/poison mastermind Mister Scratch.

And he's not happy about the developments of late.

Hope they're good, but want to see others as well.
  5. All on Virtue

    Heroside

Wulfen: My first real main, and the one I spent the most time on developing a backstory and character depth for, his life events were dictated by a large part of the events in-game both on the Virtue server events and stories and input of his in-game friends and family, shaping him to what he became. It was a path never set in stone, and I loved it.

Black Cloak: He was only intended to be a sometime player in stories, but Black Cloak was a favorite because he could be used to counsel others and help their with their character life paths and stories, which he often did. Enigmatic, mysterious, and possessing reality twisting powers, the Black Cloaks protected the web of the universe and creation called 'The Tapestry' so he never really intervened himself, but helped and advised others.

    Villainside

Mister Scratch: Existing before CoV and my beta and main character for CoV (and well before the one that shows in the events) the suit wearing enigmatic 'Lawyer From Hell' was both fun to play, and fun to interact with others with (and got a lot of compliments on his bio and stories since he's such an insidious character.)

Exodus 22:18 named for the christian bible verse 'Thou Shalt Not Suffer A Witch To Live' this fanatic witch hunter used every weapon and skill at his disposal to wage unrelenting and unmerciful war against everything supernatural, hero or villain. As such he earned the ire of both sides, and it was always entertaining when he was in a villain team with supernatural villains or in public event places (like the Pocket D, whose rules forbid him for executing his prey in the D')

lots of good roleplay, and lots of tells, good and insulting, lol.
  6. I hope that some headway to sace our city will come to fruitition.

Still, if that becomes not possible, then I say that as many players and Paragon studios people should get together in one place as possible (even if it is something like a game con or even a comic-con, or a custom convention) and give the game a good and proper wake and senf-off party.

  7. Left a message on the Pinnacle Entertainment Group forums (rpg makers of Deadlands, Savage Worlds, and others) for Shane Lacy Hensley, since he worked on CoH/CoV to see if he had heard the news.

Also, didnt Top Cow do the CoH comic series ? Well, them and Blue King, maybe an email there as well.

    False Hope

Maybe this effort will be fruitless, and maybe we will fail to save paragon city. But at least we can hold our heads high and say that we went down fighting instead of just throwing up our hands and walking away without even trying. And if we do go down in flames then I say we get as many fans, players, and devs together that we can at a comic-con or a last hero con and give paragon city the rip roaring sendoff party that it, and we, deserves.
  9. writer Mercedes Lackey has mentioned the closing of CoH on her facebook.

I know that producter Robert Hewitt Wolfe (wrote for Star Trek franchise, and was showrunner for Andromeda, syfy's Dresden Files adaptation, and others) was a CoH player.

  11. And the lyrics for 'September'

How the time passed away, all the trouble that we gave
And all those days we spent out by the lake
Has it all gone to waste? All the promises we made
One by one they vanish just the same

Of all the things I still remember
    Summer's never looked the same
The years go by and time just seems to fly
    But the memories remain

In the middle of September we'd still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now on how things could've been
It was worth it in the end

Now it all seems so clear, there's nothing left to fear
So we made our way by finding what was real
Now the days are so long that summer's moving on
We reach for something that's already gone, yeah

Of all the things I still remember
    Summer's never looked the same
The years go by and time just seems to fly
    But the memories remain

In the middle of September we'd still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now on how things could've been
It was worth it in the end

We knew we had to leave this town
But we never knew when and we never knew how
We would end up here the way we are
Yeah, we knew we had to leave this town
But we never knew when and we never knew how

Of all the things I still remember
    Summer's never looked the same
The years go by and time just seems to fly
    But the memories remain

In the middle of September we'd still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now on how things could've been
It was worth it in the end

    'September' by Daughtry.

Someone seriously needs to make a tribute video to this song, because it fits so well, IMO.

If you guys find yourselves working for other MMOs in the future, please please please do whatever you can to get them to incorporate sidekicking, globals, and flashbacks into their games. I just find it so exacerbating that these great features of CoH are virtually ignored by damn near every other MMO out there.
so agreed: I would love, for example, a sidekicking type system in a fantasy game: rename it as the 'Squire' system, or something!
  14. 5. The World: the expansive cityscape, familiar for eight years.

    4. The Story: the contuining attention to detail and consistency, and quality story arcs, and even down to street banter from villains and citizens.

    3. The Sidekick System! Sidekick/lackey/exemplar/malefactor was a brilliant way to get players together - for example, when my now-fiancee got into this game she would always sidekick to my higher level characters when we were on together (and yes, we had 'dates' in City of Heroes) so I could help her level and she could see all the things that were available in the world that she would not normally see yet. I love this out of all the mechanics systems the most.

    2. The Character Creator: a masterpiece of customization that should be the yardstick that all other character creation systems should be measured by, IMO.

And, at Number One: The Community: Easily the most dedicated and helpful community in any MMO that I have EVER played, from costume contests, to character weddings, from RP events thrown by players, to radio stations and art commissions. And of course, including a very engaging and enthusiastic Dev Team to encourage things along.
  15. From the highest Dev, to the employee who may be getting your coffee...

    Thank You for Everything.

City of Heroes survived a lot over the years, from lawsuits by a certain comic company, to being sold off and the subsequent formation of Paragon Studios and the Devs who loved this game so much that they struck out on their own to make it better and continue the story.

I hope for some turn of fortune, something that can continue the story.

Believe me, if I won the damn lottery then i'd be trying to nab the IP rights and bankrolling you guys myself, charging you to continue to make this game great and to explore creating a sequel to it.

No matter what - if any of the Devs are ever in Tulsa, OK when give a yell to Brian Childers thatbriguy@gmail.com

    dinner is on me.
  16. thank you for everything, posi, would be honored to have you as my GM whether in a virtual online world, or at a tabletop.
  17. That'd work for me.

Make the last action at the Portal Corp, getting as many citizens off this doomed place as we can in a last-ditch suicide mission to save as many as we can.

    That's going out in style.

  18. My first and longest-running character, Wulfen, sitting on one of his normal perches in Gemini Park, Galaxy City, Virtue Server.
  19. Dunno how much y'all have stashed in your files of writings, screenshots, drawings, etc... I know that i've been looking and reminiscing - and planning to take my final screenshots of my characters and the ingame locations and bosses in the time that I have left.

For example, found one of the first things that I contributed to the art forums, a sketch of a SCRAMjet aircraft that I did for my supergroup mates on Virtue server that are in The Guardian Force.

So, for what will probably be the last time, the Paul Revere
