Quote:The "Not our problem" is anecdotally recollected comments paraphrased by others.
This is probably one of the posts(from the 22 Sept Ustream Dev Chat) that gives people the impression that you guys are "passing the buck":
Quote:Talk about the forum log-in bug. Posi confirms it's not just players; the devs have to deal with it too. It's a VBulletin bug. So complain over there.
I'm not saying his translation is 100% from Dev speak, but I wouldn't think he would be that far off as to be completely wrong. -
Quote:Firefox 6.0.2
I do also have a password manager (Keepass) installed, so when i *do* have to relogin i just need to click one button.
I also have Firefox set to remember my history. I had closed down the browser between my previous post and this post....Quote:The random logout bug has indeed been around a long time. This is something different though. Every time your session gets reset you are logged out now. Not randomly, every time. One way to do this is to close down your browser completely (all windows). So I can log in, browse the forums, close my browser, go back to the forums, and I'll have to log back in. Every time. If I close my browser, I'll have to log back in when I return.
That is new. I was unable to log in for a week or so, as many were, and ever since that got fixed it's been this way. This is not a random bug in vBulletin's software. Something has become misconfigured that could be fixed but hasn't been.
I have no clue what could be causing it but it is much more annoying than the random log out was. -

Quote:Just for the record, Matt still insists that BaB is NOT a member of the Phalanx.
@Positron_CoH Matt Miller
@Samuraiko Still not true. Because we don't have a enemy group for "Retired Heroes", he had to be stuck somewhere.Quote:Back Alley Brawler should now indicate his affiliation as "Independent" instead of "Freedom Phalanx". -
I'm switching to Hotmail. They can send you emails even when thier email server is down. Incredible! This is the way all service providers should be. Even if they can't give you the service they still give you the service just to please you.

It is a beautiful thing, isn't it? That and hover make teleport a joy to use.
-
Quote:HEY!! There will be no helping people in this thread! That is complete and total disrespect for the paying customers trying to get their opinions out! You're doing it wrong. Try this:
/bind alt+lbutton Powexec_name Teleport
then just hold down the alt button and click.
The DEFINITION of teleport is to move from one point to another WITHOUT crossing the intervening space. CO "teleport" would be fine if they had called it "Phase Shifting" - Teleport it ain't. -

NO, NO, this is obviously a personal attack on each and every one of us and should be treated with hate and anger because with the knowledge of what happened to a server or code we can't see we could buy enough purple recipies for 10 Warshades....RAWR!

I'm all for bumping the damage up or making them auto-hit but the crash is part of what makes the nukes feel like nukes.
I think a large portion (if not all) of the Blaster users out there would be quite happy* with crashing nukes if the targeted spawns actually went "poof" when you hit them. Short of taking out EB's and AV's it is completely reasonable that the "ultimate release" of a blasters power would wipe an entire spawn of 10-12 even or +1 mobs off the map, bosses included.

Quote:It's amazing the difference that two players can have with the same AT/powersets. He is not the fastest thing in the world, but my EMP/ele/ele can and does take out pretty much anything short of an AV(fargen AV regen). With some IO set recharge, a bit of self buffs(not insps), a dash of self healing, and some well timed end drain PBAOE's I feel safe as can be teleporting into almost any group*.I agree with this, but have to add that Empathy is Useless... When you are trying to solo with it. Just about every other primary solo's better, with the possible exceptions of TA and Sonic.
You CAN solo with Empathy, but choose something else if you plan on doing it often.
Useless is definataly not a word I would use with him.
*there are exceptions to every rule. -
Quote:I agree with you(too a point) but how do you designate worst offenders? As soon as you set a list of changable powers people will ask "WHY NOT MY FAVORITE POWER?". Just look at the recent AOE buff changes for proof. In short, knockback isn't a big enough problem to make turning it off universal law, but it's just big enough of a problem that letting me opt out of at least the worst offenders would be a very welcome change.
I think knock back is too much of an integral part of the powers it is attached to to do this half way and taking knockback out completely is just silly talk and should automatically have you put in a rubber room. -
Quote:I'm not sure why you worded this like you did but, doesn't that 1 statement effectively negate about 2/3rds of the arguments against Knockback?... and it will not matter to most big teams these days because any situation that's sufficiently hard probably involves enemies immune to knockback anyway.
If the opponents on the "hard" stuff can't be knocked back anyway, what's the problem?
It's generalized I know but unless you are fighting more mobs than your aggro manager can handle anyway the only thing that knockback should be causing you to lose is time. That is only because if the KB user is unskilled or overzealous the scatter can prevent you from maximizing your AOEs. -
Steroids and spray tan maybe?
j/k, I don't think there is. -
After reading all of this I have to admit it is masterfully done. To completely revamp the system without really changing anything is impressive. To be able to sell it to so many people with so little angry outcry is also impressive.
Don't get me wrong, this will most likely bring tons of new folks to the game. I'm all for that but to sell this as a new system is false. At best it just reworks the old system so they can make money off of it.
Which is the name of the game and I'm ok with that.
Bravo Paragon Marketing! Keep our game running for as long as you can please.
Black Pebble and his crew better be getting HUGE bonuses this holiday season.
I'm now waiting for ISSUE 25: CURRENCY. Where every power in the game is removed and we get a button to give us 1 unit of each type of game related currency for a certain number of pushes. At the rate they're going we should have nine full trays of buttons for the Issue 25 release easily. -
Quote:Nice, if that is how they're doing it, that's good for the freebie players. In the slide show they call it "Paragon Rewards". It sounds like "veteran" is, indeed, off the table.
This is really a good way to do it, IMO. There will be people who will not want to deal with a subscription but who will have no qualms about keeping large quantities of virtual currency around. Logical or not, it will simply be that way. This system gives them incentives for doing that, and it makes them feel like they are being appreciated as a free player, which is an insanely important feature that hardly any freemium games have built into the market system.
If I had any doubts before (I had none) then I certainly have no doubts now that the people at Paragon Studios actually do "get" the freemium market.
*runs off to smack the interwebz around until they let me see pictures in the forums -
Quote:They are improving it from a "get more now" perspective but they really need to take the Veteran Reward tag off of it completely. It's almost as if the devs try and improve the game from time to time.
The idea of being able to buy vet rewards is very unsettling for me. It's kinda petty I guess, seeing how it's just a name, but in my mind it is not a "Veteran" reward in any way if you can buy it.
Otherwise, I like it.
*If this is completely off base I appoligize as I can't see the pics @work -
Quote:Very true. The Other Game has lots more things wrong with it than its stories (I assume, I couldn't never play it long enough to get into any of the stories).
On another note, I always thought it odd that we had 2 starting zones anyway. There didn't seem to be much reason for it other than just a little more variety. I'm mean Babs, Jack Wolfe, and the others could have been very easily put into Atlas and/or Kings Row. Galaxy always seemed like an afterthough to me. -
It actually kinda makes more sense to only have one tutorial and you actually get more Freedom in that you can start any AT on either side now.
The only problem I have with it is that the "other superhero game" tutorial keeps poping into my head everytime they talk about destroying Galaxy during the tutorial. Aliens, lots of rubble,.....
If I wanted to play that other game I would. Hopefully they have original enough storelines in the new Galaxy arcs that I won't think about that other stomach turning abomination of a game. -

check your +def aura(the name escapes me right now and I'm at work so can't check) settings in mids. If you have it set to show an enemy in range to buff your def the numbers you see in-game while standing alone will be lower. I ran into this doing up mine and it confused me for a while.

I bet if she had huge fangs or smacked you around with the tail she doesn't have nobody would have a problem with pounding the tar out of her.
It's ugly animal prejudice I tell ya!
On a more serious note I've always thought that she should be changed to a mutant cross between the Ghost ship and Lusca:
Let her travel all the water zones(IP,Croatoa,Founders,Striga, Talos, and even some red side zones), up her speed, keep her always running on her path, give her a good sized chunk of HP, and up the smackdown count to say 5 to get the badge.
You could even add in 1 poison spit attack that does a moderate duration unresistable hold(if it hit) that would slow you down to give her a chance to escape.
That might make her too hard or "grindy"(is that a word?) for some though. Too many people want free or minimal work badges now-a-days.
Anyway, Just a thought. -
Quote:I can’t really agree with this suggestion entirely and your comparisons don’t really add up.Blasters and Scrappers don't 80% drain their end bar just so they can start attacking again. Tankers don't have to be drained just to taunt stuff. No other AT is penalised like this.
The New buffs serve the exact same purpose as the original MM change did; QoL. Only difference is, THEY get to keep their ST endurance cost. WE do not. And that is wrong.
MM’s are really just high caliber delayed Dot dealers when it comes down too it. They fire off their power and that power does damage over its long and non-self-terminating life.
The difference between MM’s and blasters/scrappers is that MM’s hit build-up after the main power, not before. Blaster/scrapper end use is also incremented differently and more spread out but just as debilitating when not controlled properly. (I know there are more, but these are the ones relevent to the discussion I think)
You can’t really make a comparison against Tanker taunt as it is just 1 power, not a set and I think gauntlet defines a tanker more than taunt (IMHO).
Your statement that no other AT is penalized like MM’s is kinda invalid. There is no other AT set-up to work even close to how MM’s do.
All that aside, the Devs have kinda tried to go in two directions at once with the 2 changes (MM upgrade and AOE buff). It is bound to create this kind of annoyance in players without more explanation or insight into what they are thinking.
IMO they should split the difference on both changes. Drop the MM end use a bit (but not all the way back) and raise the end levels on the now AOE buffs. It makes sense gameplay wise to me.
