Quote:While the story and the character's personality and backstroy are very important, so is the image/look/feel of the character. When I look at the actor playing him he just doesnt have the feel or look that conan should have. He looks more like a B movie actor or one of those background characters with one or two lines etc.I don't really care about Conan that much, but this made me have to comment. What is it with you Conan fans and your need for the person to look exactly like your imagining (you are one of many I have seen posting on this)? Something based on the written word is never going to match your imagination's picture perfectly, so this stubborn refusal to roll with things just seems... nutty. It makes some rabid fans of comics and their movies look tame by comparison.
From the pictures I have seen made of Conan, Momoa doesn't look all that off from him, and certainly seems closer than Arnold ever did. And in the end, that doesn't matter all that much as long as they got the character and story right.
He may well pull it off, but they could have aleast insisted that he bulk up for the part, dye his hair jet black and wear blue contacts...lol
And Arnie wasnt a very good conan, hell he cant act, but aleast he had the build for the part. -
I am sorry, but as a fan of the Conan novels and comics.....Conan He Is Not.
He just does not have the look or build to be Conan. -
Spot On Bill.
Looking at the over complicated mutipule componets, iXp, threads, merits, whatever system leaves me confused on how A Dev thinks its a clean professional system.
I have seen this suggested before and i will suggest it myself.
Do away with All the crap and just go to a Incarnate XP system. Unlock your Alpha doing the Icarnate arc (i.e. Trapdoor) or iTrials if you prefer and from that pont on you gain iXp for doing Any content you Choose to play. Gain X amount of iXp and and spend it to unlock your slots. Its a clean and simple system, and in line with the 1-50 level up of the rest of the game. And to keep the Itrial lovers/framers happy just throwing a Big iXp bonus for the iTrials. -

Quote:Well even though its not like his powers in the comics, if you remember in X-1 Professor X said that he had the ablity to "Control Metal" as in all metal, and create magnetic feilds. My only gripe with the film was the depiction of Eric's powers. I could swear there were times when he was shown manipulating non-ferrous metals, most notably the brass bed frame he uses to subdue Emma. Is it really that hard to understand how magnets work?
If you also remember in X-1 he could stop bullets, which are lead unless FMJs. -
Quote:I agree with you on the Nightcrawler thing, hell the guy that looked like a red nightcrawler and even had his powers (dont know who he was but i asume he is sopose to be crwaler's dad) was more like nightcrawler than X2 version of him.The missing aesthetics and whininess were present through all three of the movies. The more characters they added, the worse it seemed to get, culminating in the atrocity that is X3. Nightcrawler was one of the worst parts of X2. They sapped all the swashbuckling fun out of Kurt and left us with Crying Bibleman.
And on top of all that, I hated the plot with Mutant 143. -
Just got back from seeing this. I liked it. They changed much from the comics, but it still had that X-Men comic feel to it. At least to me it was truer to the sprit of the comics than the other X-men flims.
The only things i didnt like is that they changed the roster of professor X's "first class".
And that they cast miss jones as Emma Frost. Miss Frost to me in the comics whenever she made an entrance was Va Va Boom! While Jones is just kind of cute, and meh to me. -
Screw the armor and trying to go toe-to-toe with Superman, just give my a .50 cal sniper rifle and krypto bullets, and a miss lane lookalike to distract him, bang, head explodes, dead.

Quote:Exactly Madam/SirI didn't go "Yay, I have these auras." Then a few weeks later think "Oh. This is boring." when I got the Origin booster pack.
I care very much about making cool costumes for my characters, and sod all about trials. No, I don't care sod all, I'm into negative caring. Which is hate.
This places me in the camp where if I want the cool new auras added free to the game, I have to do trials.
Problem is, I don't want to do trials.
This kind of reward doesn't make me go "Oh yay, I'll do some trials so I can get stuff to look cool." (And I am not talking about the Ascension Armour, I'm talking about the auras.) It makes me go "******* hell I have to do this ***** trial to unlock these things."
So, after paying about, £65 to the game in terms of booster packs and upgrades to make my characters look better, I now have a whole selection of cool new auras done by the FX team that are going to be utterly, utterly painful to unlock.
And I know they're there. I'll see people wearing them. And it will eat into my fun.
Yes, I'm a little bit nuts about this, I know.
So, how about this?
Paragon Studios, I will pay you the princely sum of £10, no, £20 pounds, for the following:
Cape and Aura Unlock from Level 1
The Auras bought from Incarnate Trials
The Emotes and Costume Changes.
And you can spend that money however you wish. Back on your end-game, on the art team, or even just on nerf guns for the office.
That means I'm happy, you're £20 better off, and people are happy that I'm not clogging up their iTrials with my low performance.
You might want to post this in the ongoing disscusstion over in the discussion section. -
Not the vampires just the visual style of the world, the bikes, what little tech there was shown, the characters, it all just looked like Rifts' Wild West to me. The vampires looked like rip offs of Geiger or Resident Evil critters.
-
Just got back from seeing this movie. Honestly it was a big meh.
To much failed character development and not enough vampire asskickery.
The whole time I was watching the movie I was like did the writer of this buy a bunch of Rifts rpg books and rip them off (the visual style).
The vampires looked like something from an H.R. Gegier painting.
Really not worth paying to see it in 3D. -

Ok so its the 28th, I wake up log on and still no Vanguard pack etc. Anyone got theirs yet, Just wondering.
-
Quote:That pretty much covers it. It was a decent episode.
Damn but why couldn't most of the series have been like the last several episodes? Then it wouldn't be being canceled.
I have never liked/gotten into SGU. It just lacks what SG1 and Atlantis had, they made it into a Soap Opera Drama in space. Its the same mistake they made with the new Battlestar. -
I think what it comes down to is that thoughs of us that do not like LARGE Teams or prefer a team no bigger than 2,3,4 people etc. Do not have a problem with people getting content like the Raids that enjoy that kind of thing, but at the same time where is the Incatnte content for those of us who dont. How can the Devs think that oh you can convert shards to get the Incarnate upgrades is an exceptible Solo/small team non-raid way of getting them. Yes it should be slower than Doing the Raid thing but not that slow. Why are we being penalized for our playstyle and not the other?
I say up the drop rate for shards to be inline with other Random drop items(like Vanguard Merits) Or add incarnate stuff to drop from all Level 50 content. That way those that like the Raids can raid and those who dont, do not get penalized for their playstyle, or those who get burned out on the raids can still get a reasonable way to progress in their incarnates. -
Unless I was dreaming I remeber a post that said that they would be awarded on the 18th but now i cant find said post...

Hmmm a war with Super Smart Apes vs Humans.
Lets see what the apes have going for them.
1. They have been alter to be as smart as us.
2. 3 times stronger than us.
Ok sure thats some good advantages.
Lets see what the humans have going for them.
1. There are more of us.
2. Tech. Tanks, guns, nukes, fighter jets and helicoppers etc.
And the apes win? I dont think so. This is why i couldnt get into the orginals -
What I would like to know is, judging by the patch notes this should be a very very small patch but its like 150 MB Thats all most a new issue. Stealth nerfs maybe..lol

Quote:And This!!!Easy. Dump ALL the new currencies and salvage garbage brought in for the Incarnate system, and convert everything over to "Incarnate XP" that you earn to gradually unlock your next slot (you get to nominate which slot you want to earn it for).
Simplify the entire stupidly over complicated system that's taken a pick up and play MMO, and turned it into a number crunching borefest that's almost as interesting to play as EVE. -
Quote:ThisFor the upcoming issue, what if you were the head honcho calling the shots on what got done? What would you include in it?
For me:
1. Power customization for all powers. *Priority Number One. The Must-Have/Issue Theme.*
2. Two complete new costumes from head to toe. Also additional miscellaneous stuff for various body parts that wouldn't normally get a full costume (flat foot animal fur, wings at level one for animal characters, etc).
3. Radio and Newspaper missions could be used in every zone, not just selected zones.
4. Rework the lower level hero missions so that I'm not running to King's Row to get a mission to go to The Hollows. All missions (except maybe the major stuff) would have an entrance on the same map as the mission giver. Exceptions might be to meet new contacts, who would give a mission on the same map they are on, and not send you off somewhere else.
5. Allow capes at character creation. Don't require a mission to get them.
6. Add in a few new travel powers, such as fire flight and hoverboards.
