Quote:Actually, my plan for my live Titan Weapon character is a TW/Elec Brute! This Thread annoys me! I was going to do Titan Weapons/Elec since I heard about it. Needed an /Elec, so thought why not go Titan with it?
Fusion Hammer and Electricity - Beta Ray Baltoro Anyone?
After playing WP at higher levels, it wasn't horrible, but I really wanted a damage aura and a more active way to manage my endurance.
Electric Armor also offers other goodies, like a constant recharge bonus, capped Energy resist, immunity to energy drain, etc.
Obviously it will take more investment to become Godly in terms of defense, etc... but in normal play it should be just fine and really complement Titan Weapons well!
I'm looking forward to it. -
Not as funny as how many people are blowing the endurance issues WAY out of proportion.
Unfortunately, the devs may not see the humor and instead severely lower the capability of the set because some people are making such a big fuss about it without doing proper testing. -
-
Quote:It's statements like this that get me upset.Titan Weapons has end consumption of epic proportions. Physical Perfection offers recovery that's only half of what Stamina gives.
Trying to fix TW's end usage with PP is like trying to stop a boat from sinking with a band-aid.
Have you even tested Titan Weapons at all?
If so... have you bothered to test it through normal play, maybe during the first 20 or so levels of play? Or did you just get an automatic level bump from 1 to 50 then go out and spam your AoE attacks without any decent enhancements?
I have spent hours testing the lower levels without a level bump, as have others, and we can attest that the set is not horrible on endurance at all. It's far better, in fact, than many sets that are currently on live.... ESPECIALLY Street Justice, which was just released.
I played WP, which didn't get QR until level 18, and never even slotted Stamina.
The set hits slow, and hard. I had more than enough time to regen my endurance, and even forgot to toggle off sprint on many occasions.
At higher levels.... yes, you have 4 AoEs. YES, THEY COST A LOT OF ENDURANCE.
All AoEs do. ANY set with that many AoEs should have endurance issues if they blow their load all at once.
So you DEAL WITH IT. The potential of having that many AoEs is glorious, and WELL WORTH THE ENDURANCE COST... which AGAIN, is NORMAL for those AoE attacks.
*gasp*
Well gee.... slot for end reduction! Get Conserve Power and use it... or the multitude of other endurance management tools. In the end game, go with Cardiac or Ageless.
I agree that Physical Perfection won't do much if that is the ONLY way you are trying to manage your endurance when spamming those AoEs. So what? It's only one tool of many.
The glorious AoE and ST damage of the set is worth it, IMHO. -
Quote:I kinda of agree that it seems a little silly at this point.Looking at the video there's redraw... I can't believe they still add redraw to new sets.
What's more immersion breaking.... having a huge weapon suddenly appear in your hand and whacking a goon over the head with it?
Or having a huge weapon suddenly appear on your back where it hovers there a few inches off your back until you reach back and grab it.
*shrug* IMHO they are about the same. So why have it at all and punish me for using click heavy secondaries and power pools?
Still, loving the set so far and testing the crap out of it on test. I'm making a lot of notes and plan to post them WHEN I HAVE PROPERLY TESTED THE SET, instead of instantly making snap judgements and jumping down the developers throats.
So far it's very unique and it's nice to see a new AoE focused melee set.
Also, I commend the devs for putting it on the beta server when it's clearly still a work in progress and allowing us to help test it. -
I just re-subbed right before Freedom hit, but have been playing the game off-and-on since the original CoH beta.
In the past, the community has always been one of the main reasons I stayed. In fact, I often used the CoH forums as a standard by which to judge all other forum communities. Most people that posted here were friendly, helpful, and fun to have discussions with.
I've noticed that, while not as bad as some other toxic forums I've been on, things have definitely gone down hill.
If you are a VIP, just read some of the posts for the latest VIP Beta test.
The responses to Titan Weapons alone has actually made me physically ill. The attacks against Synapse are inexcusable and downright vicious.
The kind of bile I've read lately actually reminds me of the Champions Online Beta forums, which is NOT a good thing. -
Quote:Whaaa! Just got home from work, and saw this!NCsoft_Freitag is unlocking access to TW on test server, PM him NOW ! (won't last a lot)
Unfortunately I just resubbed before Freedom... I never installed the VIP Beta client, but I have Test all updated. Let's hope I can download the gigs of data on my crappy country internet connection before they stop giving access...
Btw.... ANYONE HAVE PICTURES WE CAN DROOL AT?!! -
-
-
Quote:So.... that still doesn't explain how YOU got access to Titan Weapons!Lazarillo - Not where I sourced it, but I've just found out about that.
EDIT: It's come to my attention that the limited grant was dropped during an Incarnate Trial. This means there's no need to go rushing to Beta creating new characters so you can sit around Atlas Park waiting for an unlock, and if you do not have a Lv. 50 [The Net, Zwillinger, and Freitag are in there right now but none of them seems to be granting level bumps] you cannot test the trials. Therefore, no TW. The current Beta isn't intended to test Titan Weapons anyways, so it makes sense; they were just passing it out as a 'HEY PEOPLE COME TEST THESE TRIALS' thing.
The teasing is just way to much.... first the Facebook comments about it being on test, then the utter silence since then, and now this.... I'm GOING CRAZY!! -
Quote:HOW? How do you know this?! Where have you seen it?!?!?!By the by, for those folk who are curious, the "unconfirmed" available models for Titan Weapons are as follows:
***DISCLAIMER/NOTIFICATION TO COMMUNITY TEAM***
I am unaware of any current NDA on the Titan Weapons powerset. If there is such an NDA, or if, even in the absence of an NDA this post is in violation of forum rules for disclosing information related to an unreleased feature (I cannot confirm whether or not this information is true and in any case it is a feature destined for a future update and as such is completely subject to change, addition, or subtraction until that point), please notify me immediately and I will remove the post in its entirety.
"Minotaur Axe"
A big honking dual-bladed fantasy greataxe. Nice looking chipped/cracked blades, skull detail at the center, gem above the skull. Banded, partially leather-wrapped wooden haft. Ball at the end with a demon-claw detail over it.
"Improvised Mace"
Looks like a huge rock on a stick. No, seriously. A big rock on a stick.
"Lazer Sword"
Not a giant lightsaber. Looks to be a giant single-edged tech sword which will have a glowing laser edge.
"Mutant Axe"
Kind of disturbing; an axe made out of bone and muscle. Has a "jaw/teeth" detail included in the side of what I assume to be the blade. Pretty creepy overall.
"Plutonium Mace"
Industrial-tech looking mace (i.e., looks like it's made of pipes and wires). Looks like it may have a ball-shaped head composed of pentagonal faces.
"Razor Sword"
The sword displayed in the Halloween Trial preview screenshots
.
"Rocket Hammer"
Difficult to tell, but it looks like it's going to be a rocket engine on a shaft. No, seriously. ROCKET HAMMER.
"Railroad Crossing Sign"
A railroad crossing sign.
"Runic Sword"
An unusually shaped weapon (if you're familiar with FF7, think of the blade shape of the Ogre Nix. If you're familiar with God of War, it's vaguely similar [but not really] to the blade shape of Kratos' chain-blades) with skull accents on the crossguard. It looks like it'll have scrolling runic text going down the blade(?).
"Saw Blade"
A wooden plank with huge spikes driven through it. No joke.
No Rularuu just yet, unless they decide to recycle the texture from the Broadsword version, which I would not mind in the slightest. I love that sword.
Is it up on the VIP Beta?? Can you post screenies??
(Yes, I am that desperate for Titan Weapons!) -
Quote:Indeed.
I have Fire/Fire, Fire/Mental, Rad/Mental, Archery/Mental, DP/EM and AR/EM if I want AoE Blastiness. BR kills Hard Targets.
Totally, which is why I think a Beam/Traps corrupter has so much potential.
Traps was already an AV/GM Killer, allowing you to completely halt their regeneration and debuff their resistance. Add Beam Rifle to the mix and you should be able to wittle them down pretty fast.
And it's not like the AoE is horrible. As was mentioned, in a team environment (or solo +8 when you finally soft cap yourself) Disintegrate can be brutal. Cutting Beam is a decent cone, especially when something is Disintegrating... and it still has Piercing Beam which can hit at least a couple in a line, not to mention the crashless nuke.
I just wish the nuke was on a similar timer to Rain of Arrows or Full Auto.
The 2 min recharge on DP's nuke already seemed like an unnecessary nerf.... now we are up to /3/ minutes for a crashless nuke? Why? -
Quote:Well, since the last patch I'm unable to log in to CoH to check.@Adamant
Actually Lancer Shot is more like Cosmic Burst. I think it's not quiet the same dmg as Blaze.
However, if the new MIDs is correct.... it does the SAME damage as Blaze plus MORE if Disintegrate is active on the target.
Is it just me, or are a fair number of people just out to hate on Beam Rifle? -

Quote:No offense, but do you play ranged dmg sets very often?I'd like to see lancer shot be the 100% spread option. Yes it's good damage, but I'm damned close to respeccing out of it because of the short range. If it was 100% spread I could justify keeping it and would work to get some range into the enhancement.
This power is just like Blaze, Bitter Ice Blast, and Executioner's Shot.
It's the Superior Dmg, short range blast.
In fact, Lancer Shot is among the best of them... does as much damage as Blaze, is one of the fastest animating attacks in the Beam Rifle set, AND does a Mag 3 long lasting stun!
Oh, and has around 50% chance to spread disintegrate!
In my mind this makes it one of the best attacks in the set. Why would you respec out of it?
On a similar note... I think that with Beam Rifle, a lot of people just need to 'L2P'.
Myself included!
For example... Penetrating Ray.
As was mentioned in this exact thread, it's a 100% chance for Disintegration Spread.
I took it for this very reason after reading this thread, even though I was originally going to avoid it like the plague (as I do all snipes).
With some experimentation however, I've found this particular Snipe is easily the best Snipe in the game. By that, I mean it's actually worth picking up!
However, it's very sneaky. You can't use it like a normal snipe!
What I do is open with Disintegrate on a Lieut/Boss in the middle or back of the spawn. If I'm on a team, I follow the same procedure as picking an anchor. Try to pick something that they won't WTFPWN right away.
Then, while Disintegrate is animating I queue Penetrating Ray. In the time it takes for the mob to react, I usually get off the snipe without any interruptions. It happened once or twice, especially solo, but nothing that a single Interrupt Redux enhancer couldn't fix.
Now, if that baddie was anywhere near his friends, I see that delicious DISINTEGRATE SPREAD pop up over anything close by.
Then it's time for Cutting Beam! Extra damage on all the friends, and then I carry on with my blasting ways (or corrupting, in my case).
It seems to be very effective, especially in a team when the mobs are distracted. It also helps to pick a target a bit further back, because they often start to run toward you after you get Disintegrate off. With a little luck and a queued Penetrating Ray you hit them just as they run into the middle of their friends.
Give it a try. They've definitely designed Beam Rifle to play a little differently than other blasting sets. -
Now I can't even connect to the login server.
I was logging in and playing the game fine (except for the occasional crash) before this most recent downtime and the new patch.
Once I installed the new patch and tried to login, that's when all this started happening.
I've tried everything on my end, hardware and software-wise. I've also done a bunch of routing tests. I connect to everything else just fine.
This, just after I drop $100 on a bunch of points.
Somewhat ironic that the day that the game becomes officially 'Free to Play', I can't play at all... even after giving them a lot of money.
Hmm.... I'll see if this resolves itself by tomorrow. I've already sent in a ticket. -
UPDATE: Now I cannot even reach the login server!
Not only that, but the routing of all traffic to this site and anything NCsoft related is really bad. It took me forever just to post this because the connections to the website keeped timing out.
I've tested and re-tested my connection... I don't have a problem connecting to anything else.
Even the NCsoft launcher is having fits.... it stalls for much longer than usual when I open it and tells me it had problems connecting. -
I'm up in Canada, and I can't even select a server. At first I could get onto a few that I had no characters, and now nothing.... all the same... hangs for 5+ minutes and then says 'Cannot Connect to DBServer' (which I assume is their Database server)
I can always log into the login server just fine.
I've reset everything. I've disabled both my software and hardware firewalls. Nothing makes a difference.
I was playing the game just fine before the downtime and the most recent patch.
This definitely has to be an issue on their end. I used to work technical support for a couple very large telecoms, and I know when it's the user, ISP, etc. -
Just downloaded and installed the new patch, and loaded up CoH.
I can login, and get as far as server selection.
Then I select Virtue, and it hangs for about 5 minutes and finally says 'Connect Connect to DBServer' and shoots me back to the login screen.
On a lark, I tried logging into a couple other servers and had no problems... though I didn't have characters on any of them.
Anyone else getting this? -
Quote:You aren't even at 50 yet, and you are already at 45% to ALL positions without PBU/PB?Loving my DP/TIME Corr! The only thing I'm having a hard time deciding is which travel power to give her! Need to get her to redside to pick up Leviathan Mastery for the shield though.
I know keeping with PBU is likely the best way to go, but I want that Leviathan Mastery S/L/C resist shield for concept. Just how it needs to be! She's at 45% to all positions as it is, so that just means I won't be at softcap for iTrials (though with my build that wasn't going to happen anyways, but 50%+ would of been nicer I'm sure )
Now I just need to figure out which Alpha slot I'm going to give her. With all my others going Incarnate it was pretty straight forward, with Time I'm concidering all 4 of them for different reasons. Cardiac might be the best if my END issues are taken care of after all slotting is completed, but if END issues are taken care of...MORE DAMAGE is tempting, personally I like the idea of even better ACC and grabbing a hold of just a bit more DEF, but Spiritual for the HEAL and RCH is so tempting, especially when that means Hail of Bullets will be up even more often!
How did you manage that, if you don't mind my asking?
On another note... I'm liking my Time/Sonic Defender. He's really helpful against hard targets because of all his -res stacking. I can get about -116% res stacked, sometimes a little more sometimes a little less, which helps the team just MELT AVs and the like.
Only issues are... VERY end heavy. Soloing is a nightmare, even though I can easily keep up damage and defense-wise. Even slotting End reducers doesn't seem to help.
Also, the lack of AoE. In order to maximize my Time abilities I need to dive right into the middle of mobs. Howl is great, and when stacked with Slowed Response gives -50% res to up to 10 targets... but Howl is a cone and doesn't work well in melee. So I end up having to jump in and out which tends to get annoying.
I'm starting to think something with a lot of targeted AoEs and PBAoEs might flow much better. However, I don't really care much about the damage since, on a team, there is usually enough of that already.
Originally I wanted to try DP for concept.... but it was just too late blooming and the secondary effects are not very good (even the -dmg with toxic rounds is fairly anemic on defenders and short-lasting).
My other idea was Electric Blast. Is sapping a viable strategy? Does it work against bigger targets, like AVs? I was just thinking of spamming Short Circuit and Ball Lightning when I wasn't buffing/de-buffing with time.
Thoughts? Experiences?
P.S.- No fix for Defender Chrono Shift recharge till Issue 21.5? NOOOOOOOOO!!! -
Quote:Sorry. That's not true.Eviscerate has a jumping, spinning animation which looked hilariously silly when in Granite form in beta, so the combo was blocked.
If it were, then why can we make Katana/Stone characters? Or MA/Stone? They do a lot more jumping and flipping around.
From what I understand... they had a problem with the way the claws were attached to the Granite Form character rig. Something about the claws appearing on the feet or below the character.
Granite form is special, in that your character model is actually being completely replaced by the DE rock model and so it causes some issues. They couldn't fix it (or probably could, but it would take too much effort) hence Claws was scrapped for Stone. -
Quote:Really? REALLY?? Wow....According to what Synapse just told me, the earliest we can expect a fix to Chrono Shift's recharge being longer on defenders than any other version is issue 21.5 because of the 'publishing lock' on Issue 21.
I just thought you guys should know.
(on another note, he may also be referring to Venomous Gas taking sets and enhancements that do nothing, but at least I know he was talking about the Chrono Shift problem for sure.)
I've been PMing him since beta about these issues.
Thanks for the heads up!
I've been working on a Time/Sonic Defender since I21 launched and was expecting a quick patch anyday. This really kills him for me.
I could still keep playing him... but I'll hold off until this gets fixed.
Now which to focus on... my Elec/Time Controller or my Ninja/Time Mastermind... hmmm -
Quote:Leveling a shiny new Time Defender, I would have to agree. In beta I called Time Manipulation the Willpower of buff/debuff sets, with all that implies.
However, there is one key difference between them.
Willpower is very passive. Set your toggles and forget them... the set does all the work without much input from you.
Time Manipulation is VERY active and clicky. It gives you a lot to do. Player ability can become more of a factor as well, when prioritizing what abilities to use and when.
Overall I'm loving Time. I've never liked Defenders and couldn't get one above level 20ish, but so far I'm level 28 with my Time/Sonic and loving every minute.
Still, I don't think it's over-powered at all. I've done crazier things with a lot of other characters and at earlier levels. Time just seems to be a really balanced, fun, and effective set. -
Quote:*sigh*People will eventually learn to not post "fun builds" if they don't want it to be min maxed.

Quote:If I had to gut the build, the MAIN thing I would change is take Energy Mastery out completely and put in Soul for Gloom and Dark Oblit.
