  1. The arrows in the bottom right corner of the league frame toggle it between three views:

If I do the chug and buy then just wait I have less time on the inspirations after exiting the hospital.
  3. Yes, the base to hit chance fo most incarnate mobs is 64% instead of 50%. It doesn't hose defense based characters but does make them more relaint of having some support. Most trials seems ot have a lot of defense buffs floating around however so it's not as bad as it sounds.

I consider "more damage" to include resistance debuffs and regen debuffs as well as raw damage. At the end of the day the important value is the teams DPS minus his Regen per second.

At the end of the day it's a numbers game. Doing it without grenades requires a lot more damage (both on Marauder and on the adds) than using them. I suspect a well skilled team with a lot of buffs/debuffs could do it today but for the most part I think until people start getting their judgement powers and level shifts it's going to be very hard.

I think a better option would be to ignore anyone who's wait time is less than some arbitrary value (say 10 seconds). That way it ignores all pre-formed leagues and the wait time would be based on peopel who are actually waiting.

I disagree. When I see the 10 second warning I use a bunch of purple/orange inspirations and just have time to refill my tray before the door unlocks.
  8. Put it in Stamina, it will have a achance to proce once every 10 seconds.

Energize does not take Endurance Modification IOs so you can't put it there.

Power Sink will have the same problem as lightning field. The proc is set to give endurance to the Target of the power. Since Lightning Field and Power Sink target enemies it doesn't help in those powers.

He was probably talking about the join trial in progress option in the queue. That can automatically add them to an existing league but AFAIK (based on patch notes) it will only do so if the league is under minimum size. When I've tried to invite someone who dropped from a trial in progress the invite doesn't go through.

    iTrial question

People are supposed to be able to join without an alpha boost. One thing to check is have Player X check their LFG tab. The trial crash bug sometimes results in the game thinking the palyer is already in a trial and therefore won't let them join a new one.

I had to switch back and forth between the team list and the chat tab and I had to scroll up and down the team list. Kind of a hassle during gameplay. In the old UI/system, I could talk to everyone by clicking the team button....maybe my setup is configured wrong. I'll look at this later or maybe I'll try the trials with old UI.
    There's some options here.

First encourage everyone to use League Chat pretty much exclusively (it's somewhat useful to use Team chat for the weapon gathering phase of Lambda since the two teams are operating independently). That way you can talk to everyone at once.

For the Interface the league interface has a couple of arrows on the bottom right. These toggle it between three different arrangements:
    1. 1 Column
    2. 2 Rows
    3. 1 Row

In general setting it to the 1 or 2 rows option will allow you to see all league members at once. You can also set a focus group if you're a buffer and want to focus on specific people. The only downside of the 1 row option is that if you have 4 teams the league interface detaches from the chat box.

    I don't think so, unfortunately.

It's meant for people who want the feeling of "beating" something and like the sensation of getting rewards. Put another way, it's meant for people to whom this is "a game" in the sense of "a game of chess" or "a game of football," not "a game of let's pretend." (Personally, I don't think we should be fostering that kind of attitude, but that isn't my decision to make. This is an MMO, not a book written by me.) Any satisfaction a "concept" player gets out of this system is secondary to the mechanical benefits, by design.
Yes, the incarnate system is designed to appeal to mechanics based players. The thing is if the story is not important why give it a story that is frustrating to players who either aren't into the mechanics or like a mix of mechanics and story?

The judegement, destiny and interface slots are pretty well designed from that point of view. It would have been nice to have a few alternate animations aimed at non-elemental characters but the basic concepts of the slots are generic enough to work for most characters. No matter what your origin you can generally figure out someway to make a large explosion from judgment and figure something from the destiny slot (interface is pretty minimal graphics wise so anything goes there).

With that in mind it would have been possible to write the story in a way that doesn't have the well overwriting your existing origin. For example they could do it so that Incarnate is simply a term applied to a super who has found a way to draw upon a source of power beyond themselves and transcended the power of a "normal" super. In that case the Well still exists and is a still a possible source of power for a Super (and indeed is still powering Tyrant) but it allows individual characters to decide what their "Incarnate Power Source" is.

For some characters it might remain "natural" in that they draw on their own power and really are just that good. Others might opt for a "divine" power source where they are drawing extra power from, essentially, their beliefs (whether an actual god, ancestor worship, nature worship or whatever). Some might take the "humans are awesome" route and say that they are drawing power from the city itself (I think AD&D had a prestige class based on this).

The point is that they could have made a generic story that allowed us to choose the source of our incarnate powers while still maintaining the Well as the "Big Bad" and most of the powers would have worked just fine. The Lore slot is the only one that doesn't really work that well with it and I think it's no surprise that it is the least popular of the new slots.
  13. It's hard to say. It could easily be that the numbers are bugged. However even if they aren't bugged the pre-formed leagues are almost certainly throwing it off. Since a pre-formed league is in the queue for less than a second and contains up to 24 people that is really going to throw off the numbers. Add in that people who queue for a bit, get fed up with the wait and quit presumably don't count and you've got a lot of bad data.

For example I had ran a league last night that had 23 pre-formed members and 1 queued member. Assume his wait was 45 minutes, what was the average wait time for the league?

    (45 min * 1 + 0.0166 minutes * 23) / 24 = 1.89 minutes.

Assuming the 2-4 minute wait times displayed are accurate it seems like we're getting absurdly long wait times for queues and a lot of pre-formed leagues going.

Bear in mind the number of prisoners scales down pretty sharply. A minimum size BAF should actually find the prisoner one easier in some ways than a larger team (the other badges are going to be easier with a large team however).

Well the minimum size thing is actually an issue of the way the queue works. As soon as the queue contains the minimum number of players the trial starts. Consequently you're unlikely to get a max size trial through the queue unless a pre-formed trial joins with empty slots.

Lambda is 8-16 players, BAF is 12-24.

Admiral Sutter is in Independence Port (his destroyer is parked just north of Statesman's ship). I'm not sure about Mortimer Kal.

Finally, I20 had a good beta with lots of involvement why didn't they catch this "social" issue then?
Beta testing doesn't always reflect the social impact of a feature very well. Even with an open Beta the number of people participating is a lot smaller than the the total population. Add in the fact that they tend to be people who are very keen and you get a very friendly, informal atmosphere. Back in the original sneak peek I expressed concern over how the system worked although my concern was more aimed at people who wanted to specifically form a private league of less than maximum size, i'll admit I wasn't expecting pre-formed leagues to be as popular as they are.

Honestly the LFG feature is not working at all from a social point of view. The problem is that it takes a long time to get in and you're likely to end up with a bad team. Consequently people tend to form their groups beforehand which of course makes the situation in the queue even worse. Also since the people who are willing to actually lead leagues are in all likelihood forming their own pre-formed leagues the queue formed leagues are less likely to have someone coordinating them (although as more people learn the trials this will start to change).

The best way to do the trials at the moment is to ignore the LFG feature and form a full trial team ahead of time. Global Channels are good for this but you can also try broadcast in a co-op zone (RWZ and Pocket D are popular for this on Virtue)

Also, the All Tanker/Brute Archetypes(because of their high DPS and hit points) seem to be the only ones able to successfully complete these trials. This is not a model for group play. I don't like that at all.
Again it comes down to teamwork and coordination. If the entire league runs off in 24 different directions then yes the Tankers, Brutes and Scrappers will take the longest to fail since they are the most self-contained ATs. However a coordinated league works together and for that all ATs are useful. A pure melee league can succeed but having other ATs along makes things a whole lot easier. The support ATs make everyone tougher and stronger so enemies die faster. The ranged/AoE ATs (Blasters, Khelds and Crabs) help keep the adds on the AV under control and provide more damage against the general spawns. Control ATs can mitigate damage from all non-AVs and stop escaping minions in the BAF. Stalkers and Banes can help a lot with the equipment hunt in Lambda and their spike damage is useful against bosses and AVs.

The thing is for this to work the different ATs need to support each other. Again this comes down to part of the social failing of the LFG tool. A pre-formed league will naturally exhibit better coordination since even if the players don't know each other before they have unconsciously entered into a defacto agreement to work together. Plus you have at least one person who is willing to take charge.

There was a button I hadn't messed with until today on the league window. It's a red triangle on the right hand side pointing down from the bottom of the window. I pressed it, it didn't do anything that I could see, except now I can't anchor the league window back to the chat window.

What have I done and how do I undo it?
Short Answer, there's an arrow point left near it, press that.

    Long Answer:

There are two arrows in that corner, one pointing down and the other pointing left. The League window can be in one of three states:
    1. Single Column
    2. Two Rows
    3. Single Row

Pressing the down arrow moves 3 -> 2 -> 1. Pressing the left arrow moves from 1 -> 2 -> 3. In the single Column and Single Row configurations the league pane will detach from the chat pane if the league has more than 3 teams (at least on my computer it's 3, this might vary based on the size of your chat window relative to the resolution).

Personally I run in single row mode if the number of teams is 3 or fewer and 2 row mode for 4-6 teams but this requires some micro-managing.

Save your Empryean Merits then. Those can be traded for Rare/Very Rare Components at a better rate than Threads.

It doesn't require any inf at all. There is an inf option but it's mostly for people who can't/won't do the trials or who run a lot of trials each day (so their thread earnings exceed their E Merit earnings). If you only run a trial when you will get an E Merit then your earning rate for common/uncommon components (both drops and thread crafting) should be about right for the rate you get rare/very rare components through E Merits.

Personally that's the route I'm taking. Running the trials a bunch of times every day seems like a good way to burn myself out. Running a few trials a day and swapping characters so I always get an E Merit is much more enjoyable. Sure, it'll take me longer than someone who grinds them out as fast as possible (I haven't even unlocked the new slots yet, let alone filled them) but it's not a race.

Doing the BAF gives you experience towards Judgment. Once you have Judgment unlocked it goes towards Lore.

Doing the Lambda gives you experience towards Interface and once that's unlocked towards Destiny.

Where is the contact to start a trial?
The waiting times are essentially pure fiction. The problem (as someone else mentioned) is that most people are joining in pre-formed. If a league of 24 people joins as a group they get a waiting time of 0 minutes which brings down the average wait time substantially.

Unfortunately the devs didn't provide enough incentive to use the queue so consequently very few people do. Your best bet is to do what everyone else is doing and join a pre-formed league. Most leagues are formed in co-op zones (particularly Pocket D and the RWZ) so that's your best bet.
