What I want to know is will Rularuu be the same or not. They keep showing pictures of Ruladak all over the place.

Quote:My computer would cry. What if the devs decided to release the new GR Praetorian Zones as single "serverless" zones? Imagine logging in to see 5000+ people online and ready to team. Would it work? Would it be fun? Of course, there's not enough time to make it happen, but it's fun to speculate.
Next Up, merge the Hive and the Abyss into one massive "serverless" zone as well. Then do the same for the PVP zones. -
-
Sweet. Now if only we could get asymmetrical costume options...
-
This is cool and all, and I'm happy about more new content, but...
...what about the bugs from I17 that are still around? -
-
I'm pumped for GR. I just have one issue.
The Praetorian I want to make needs a cape to make his costume complete.
Praetorian content is, for the most part, low to mid-low level.
You don't get access to that little piece of stylish cloth until level 20.
By then, a good majority of Praetorian content is done with, meaning my character won't look complete until he's out in Paragon City.
Kind of puts a damper on things. -
I massively approve of these being redesigned to become functional. They have potential to become something neat, such as a help station, or a bulletin board, a contact for certain missions, or even all of the above!

I never plan a character's set out. I pick a powerset that works for the concept, then jump into things and have fun.

Quote:I could understand your argument if this were Rularuu or Hamidon we are talking about. But it's a guy with a bow who's famous. The only reason he could take any of us is because the Dev's had to make him a challenge for a video game, and even then, people have solo'd him in missions, despite the buffs he has an an EB or AV. Storyline wise, I know for a fact that there are better, stronger characters than him. He, along with the rest of the Phalanx, are just the most famous heroes. And saying he's the only archer with great skills and is willing to teach a select few makes it seem like all our heroes are sidekicks, paling in comparison to the greatness that is the Dev's very own characters. Yeah, no thanks.*Ignoring the childish and unnecessary sarcasm now*
I never said that, I simply said that Manticore is THE ARCHER. He has the skills, the tricks, and the Mojo with a bow that almost no one else has. He is also willing to share it (with a select few). Your blaster archer (or any other AT for that matter) can not take him solo, and therefore could learn something from him. That reasoning makes for a good basis for unlockable Patron Pool Powers. -
Right, I forgot that, by default, the Freedom Phalanx are better than everyone. No one can hope to surpass them, and we should just stop trying because we'll never be as cool, strong, or all around amazing as them.

Quote:It's never to late to remove or rework anything in this game. The Dev's have proven this time and again with things such as taking away or "updating" costume parts, or reworking things such as the Positron Taskforce.Fair enough. But if the question is making sure both factions have the same amount of options, then you either need to remove the villain pools, or add new hero pools. And it's a little late to remove the villain pools.
My character's powers should have nothing to do with some in game character whatsoever. As I said before, my archer can fire arrows just fine with out Manticore's guidance. They should rework it, making the Patron arcs optional and making PPPs unlocked just like the APPs. And, if they want, they could add in a hero version of those optional Patron storyarcs where heroes can choose a heroic group to work with, IE Legacy Chain, Longbow, Wyvern, or the PPD. But this would all be in the name of adding content, and be related to a character's abilities in no way. -
I know of some people that would appreciate having the old, low res Gladiator shoulder piece back in game. I would provide pictures but the only ones I could use feature a friend's character, and I don't have permission to use them.
I, personally, would very much appreciate having non reflective costume pieces back. For example, a non reflective Metallic or Armor Plate set. It makes it very hard to mix and match with other non metal, non reflective costume parts, not to mention super gloss just doesn't work on some metals all of the time. -
Quote:Please, no. This just reinforces the whole "Your hero plays second banana to these guys" thing. I'm pretty sure my blaster can learn to fire arrows without having to be tutored by Manticore. So everyone gets an APP, and villains can unlock their PPP. This does beg a question: has there been any thought to setting up Hero PPPs? Obviously not at the moment-- there are other things to focus on-- but how about down the road, would there be a chance to pick one of the signature heroes and by studying under them unlock a set of powers thematically related to theirs? Work with Manticore to hunt down Protean and be able to fire off a Teleport Arrow, for example, or help Positron save the Faultline Dam (again) to gain some radiation-manipulating technology. Who knows, since there are more top-tier hero characters than there are Recluse-Lieutenants, perhaps each AT could choose from 4 heroes, but not every AT would have the same 4. Posi could be available to blasters and defenders (and corrs eventually), maybe, while Citadel would help melee ATs.
This is of course just wishful thinking, but from a balance perspective, right now Villains can natively choose between APPs or PPPs, while Heroes only have APPs unless they switch sides. While the Villain PPPs are at least theoretically available to anyone, that is not the same as having PPPs for each side. This would be a great opportunity to introduce more variety in powers, either by giving specific powers to match a signature character's theme, or to give options that fit concepts that are currently neglected by epic pools (like radiation, for example).
Hero Patrons are something that make sense and could be fun, as well as giving existing characters more options.
(And a sudden thought grips me: Blue Steel patron arc...)
I would much rather prefer them unlocking PPPs to everyone and making the Patron missions just an optional arc where your character wants to become a higher member of Arachnos, working closely with one Patron to reach said goal. -

I love how these zones look like a real city that isn't made of cardboard boxes, but I do have one big complaint about it, from what those pictures depict.
They look empty. Hardly any citizens, and I saw one car. Are we still in the mindset that a city only has a couple dozen people and vehicles, or are all the citizens of Praetoria just camera shy and hiding? -
Pleeease, no more new zones. They need to add more to the zones we already have >.<

Welcome to the server, yo! Virtue's definitely a good spot to call home.
Also, if you're looking for an RPSG that runs regular content, the Palladium Sentry is always looking for new, heroic members. We're mainly made up of modern/silver age heroes, and our RP isn't hard to get into, in case you're new to it. You can visit our site through the link in my sig.
Again, welcome to Virtue. Glad ya joined. -
This is too cool of an idea for the devs to put it in CoH.
-
See, I don't get that, either. They are the creators of this little CoH universe. The only limit to what they can and can't do is based on their imagination and creativity. The only plausible reason why they haven't designed certain weapons with Talsorian tech is because they don't want to.

The game's about the same as it's always been, which is both good and bad. Things like Mission Architect exist now, which is really cool. And the ability to change our power's colors is pretty nifty, too. I17 brought alot of issues with it, though, so expect lag and a few bugs here or there. The community is still the same, which is both good and bad, as well. Still got the trolls and occasional idiot, but also have the really great SGs out there.
And welcome back to the game, glad ya decided to hang out on Virtue.
