Personally, I'm doing pre-order on my main account (and then booster), and saving collector's for my second. Mainly because I always keep the main up, and save a decent enough amount by paying by the year... but for my secondary, I often let it lapse and just resub when I need it. Having a "free month" ready to use when I need it would be helpful. If I end up not using it, I could just gift the code to one of my friends.
I mainly just want the complete collection just to have the box, anyway. -
Personally, I'm debating whether or not I want GR on my alt account. If I decide I do, then I may end up getting the game both ways (and go for the boxed edition, just in case it has a new map or something). Gonna go for the pre-order either way though, since having the power sets early is a REALLY really nice perk...

Well, not from NCSoft anyway. Retail stores will probably offer it, but they won't be able to offer the pre-order perk along side it.
So, if I understand it...
Expansion: Online only. Can be pre-ordered from NCSoft. Will get pre-order perks.
Complete Collection: Online or boxed versions. Cannot be pre-ordered from NCSoft. If any stores offer pre-orders, they will not offer perks. -
The complete edition is the better deal, of course, since it comes with a month free ($15 value, aprox), but only costs $10 more. The fact you can't pre-order it is disappointing, though.
I hope the upgrade pack from Expansion-only to Complete costs LESS than $10, otherwise it'll seem like a bit of a ripoff. I think $5 might be right? But then again the boosters themselves are $10, and the amount of stuff between those two might be similar... so I really don't know what to think. -
Oh! Suggestion. If you ever do decide to do Bind on Pickup tech, could you make it "Bind to Account" rather than "Bind to Character"? This is a really alt heavy game, and I really think that would make things a lot easier for people to accept.

First and foremost... character porting. I think if we go into CoH2 without being able to bring in our achievements from CoH1 in some fashion, then it would divide the player base and really hurt the game. Not trying to be DOOMy, but I think that would be a REALLY bad thing. Even if the mechanics weren't quite the same and our characters got changed due to it, or if we had to restart from level 1 and all our Legacy Enhancements were gray and stuck in limbo until we could use them... just being able to save all that hard work would be a major bonus.
So that's #1. Similar enough that they can port characters from 1 to 2, in one way or another.
After that, I don't really care too much about the game stuff (I do have a wishlist, but almost all of it has been handled already, and I think the rest is still possible in the game we have now, so no need to limit it to a sequel thread)... so I'm thinking more back end stuff.
Power Customization, even though we already have it, would probably be a lot better (and much easier for the devs to add on to) if it were programmed into the base of the engine rather than added on top. I'm thinking things like different menus for color, animations, and effects customization. Rather than having to have them all in the same menu pulldown (that could get REALLY long if they keep adding stuff on...)
Mission Creation is another thing I think would be nice to address. Of course, I know nothing about how it's really done, but from what I've heard it's kind of a pain. Remaking it in a way closer to Mission Architect (which is easy and fairly powerful), albeit with the limits removed and a lot more stuff added (that we couldn't be trusted with ). It could result in making missions easier and faster for the devs to make... which is only good for us. As an added bonus, if the devs could directly port MA missions into the game... well, that opens up possibilities too.
There's other stuff too, but my brain is too scattered at the moment to think of it all. -
I don't quite see the point in changing a badge title (which can apply to quite a few villains) just because you don't personally have a character of that type.
-
I'm fine with this suggestion. Just so long as they keep in the automatic unlock at level 20, as well. More options and all that.
-
Inferno, pop a blue, Self Destruct, Rise of the Phoenix.
If I'm going down I'm taking you with me! And then getting back up to laugh at you! -
If we're talking big things, one thing I've always wanted to see is a revamp/upgrade of the character models. Things like hands with individual fingers. More detailed heads with more options (so we can choose individual eyes, nose, mouth, etc., rather than having them just be one big texture with everything included)... and maybe even having stuff like facial animations! I know I have one friends that's been begging for that one for a while.
Backpacks, more asymmetrical costume parts, and other cool things could be worked in too.
Of course the big problem with that is that it might also require an overhaul of the animation system and, in the absolute worst case scenario might require redoing/editing all the existing animations. So it's not something that could be done as a simple add-on.
But hey, we're talking about the next BIG thing, right? So with that in mind, I'd really like to see upgrades to the character creator in that fashion. -
Quote:That was a bug, apparently. As I recall, we've had two 2x Weekends since AE came out. The first one, it worked with AE. The second time it didn't and it was apparently a bug.Outside of the AE. As I recall last time, AE mishes were not subject to DXP
Though of course it could just be a "bug" based on how much farming happened the first time. And we might have the same "bug" this time around too. -

Guess that's confirmation that we'll be getting the pre-orders sometime this month. And also that the pre-order incentive refers to the live servers (I have no idea why some people thought it referred to test server only). Good news all around.
Requesting that weekend off from work, as always! -
It will make Redside Hami raids a lot less reliant on Nuke temp powers. That's about all I'm hoping for.

Quote:I can only imagine it means you can make them on live before GR comes out, but only if you pre-order (and that is one heck of a pre-order incentive, isn't it?). The fact that they're testing Dual Pistols on test right now means that the set isn't tied directly to GR (and the same could probably be true for demon summoning)... and it also means that letting us test them out on test as part of the pre-order bonus is a big fat noprize. Especially since the Dual Pistol Testing announcement mentions an Open Beta portion. This needs major clarification. Does this mean that we, if we pre-order, will have access to both power sets on Live servers 5 months before Going Rogue is even released? What happens in May June and July, since it only states March and April.
Or, does it mean we will have access to them on Test server for that amount of time, and then once it goes live we can make new toons like everyone else?
This is very ambiguous and has sparked several heated debates I have seen.
Please help!
So I can't imagine it being test only, since some people (and chances are, all of us will soon) have access to that already, before the pre-orders are even out.
So it can be that, or it could be a REALLY weirdly worded and overly specific (in the wrong area) way of saying that you'll get closed beta access to Going Rogue, which we already knew. But I can't imagine why they'd phrase it that way.
In my estimation, it HAS to refer to live, since that's the only option that makes a lick of sense... but the March AND April line has me at a stop. I can't decide if it's a typo (where they meant "or"), or if it means one will be released on month, and the other will be released the next.
I guess it could also mean we only get to play them for those two months, and then they're grayed out until we buy the expansion... but that seems weird. -

Quote:On the other hand, Ninja Run.If it follows the trend, it will be a limited utility power. Every "extra" power gotten through a preorder or special edition and to a lesser degree the booster packs, has been of limited utility (reskinned sprints, TP to PocketD, TP to Mission Door, Jump Pack, Self-Destruct, Tarot Card Buffs). There's no reason to expect this one to be any different. Useful, especially in the lower levels, but situational.
-
Quote:It's entirely possible they haven't even started yet. Plus, there is one line that says "Closed Beta invitations are being sent out via email within the next couple of days, so please keep an eye on your Inbox to see if you have received one" (emphasis mine), so it might not all be in a single wave. Not true, they're pulling people from those groups at random for this.
I'm part of the loyalty program and don't have access. My other half is part of both the loyalty program and a veteran and can't access.
In other words... Patience. -
Thank you War Witch! Can't wait for this. My computer is all nice and ready for Ultra Mode (I hope), and I'm dying for new content (and badges! I love badges!)
... So where's my beta invite? >.> -
I did the Loyalty and I'm a 63 month (almost 66) vet. I'm fairly confident I'll have a spot in the closed testing. The only problem is that I'm working a lot this week. So... I guess I won't be getting much sleep.

Whoa what what? Why do I have to have a job!? WHYYYY!?!?! -
I wonder if Cryptic is going to scramble and try to save some grace with CO, or if they've just given up on it now that their real cash cow is released...

Personally, I think the level 20 unlock thing is AWESOME. Recently, a friend of mine returned to the game with a bunch of his friends, and we all played together a while (though they're waiting for GR now, maybe this will draw them back). The problem is, some of his friends REALLY wanted to play VEATs, and were asking us to level them up really fast so they could play them.
I can only imagine how players new to the game without any established friends to mooch off of must react when they want the Epic ATs early. Might be one of the things giving the pay-for-PL companies business.
So unlocking them earlier is a completely awesome design choice, in my opinion.
As for if it's too early or not... I don't think it is. 20 doesn't take long, but it's enough of an accomplishment to say "you're giving the game a chance". It's not terribly hard to get to, but it's also not so easy it's instantly handed to you.
Personally, I think it's just right. -
Quote:Oh, but you see, it makes sense. The pieces all fit together. So they've put aside a whole day before it goes live to test it? Test it internally too? Oh and the whole "decide tv or aeon" thing by monday?
Yeah that sooooo isnt going to be the spring fling Im willing to put money on it!
The Television offers "new content". And all indications are that it's going to win.
If even one new mission is added to the Spring event, that would be a promise kept.
The devs have a policy to publish any changes to test before putting them live (I guess to make sure it works in a "live server environment" or somesuch). But they have to do it in a hidden manner.
Otherwise everyone would flock to Dr Aeon's side when they discover that the new content TV promises is actually a "Take Snaptooth out on a date" mission.
