Check www.paragonwiki.com for Unlockable Weapons skins, and what is required to get them.
If you have the badge, but do not have access, you should certainly petition.
These unlocks are only cosmetic. They do not affect the game properties of your assault rifle. Although some are freakin' cool. I especially like the Vanguard "Redding Rifle" for a sci-fi look. -
I'm not in the Phillipines, but you don't need to buy a box to get a full account
Can you purchase serial codes like the Mac Special Edition, Good vs. Evil Edition, or Architect Edition over the net?
EDIT: I guess a better question is, do you have a trial account or a full account? Do you have a credit card? -
Some people run task forces so often for quick Merits, they have trouble understanding that someone may have:
1) Never done this before
2) Never done the "speed" version before
3) May not like the "speed" version, as it involves sacrificing hostages and captives
The kin may have given you grief, but the rest of the team also failed by not explaining to you what was going on, or the strategy to be used. I agree with Dumpleberry. </e shocked>
Take another shot at it sometime, and mention you've never completed one before. A good team, and team leader, will explain what is expected.
Or, lead one yourself, saying "This will be done the BRUTE WAY! No MERCY! NO SURVIVORS!" Lotsa ambushes on that last mission! Yee haw!
Did an explicit "KILL ALL" ITF recently. Didn't take as long as I thought... -
When I moved to Cow-Town (Calgary Alberta), I joined a D&D group, and two guys in it played CoH/CoV.
I've gotten at least five of my friends to try it out, and are still playing! Bwa ha ha!
I should run demos. -
Malaise/Pierre can't be French Canadian. He doesn't smoke enough.

A.R.T.I.C (Advanced Research and Tactical Intelligence Centre), is found on the Freedom Shard. Composed mostly of Canadian superheroes and technical testers, and a few American allies, ARTIC endeavors to test crime-fighting technology and science-based superpowers in real-life urban environments. Initially, ARTIC was set up in Canada, but there was no crime to fight, so they moved to where crime is plentiful! America! More specifically, Paragon City!
Yes, we are aware that the cold place up north is spelt ARCTIC.
Say hi to the Dominion Dynamo, the Frozen Canadian, and the Athabasca Archer when you get the chance!
Also found on the Justice Shard, Snow Shovel Joe, Canada's snow shovelling champion, 3 years running. -
I have "played" Progress Quest, and I assure you, it automates a lot of the tasks we waste time and brainpower over in other, less user-friendly MMOs.
Someone else said, before me, "Welcome to City of Heroes, where we expect you to play the game!"
The general trade-off is that the more power something has, the more attention it requires. The defense boost from the Maneuvers toggle is smaller than the defense boost from the click-apply from Force Field. Any passive defense booster would either be self-only, or correspondingly smaller. -
Super-Sidekicking is a great feature. No more "sidekick tetris" as one of the developers called it.
The old-school sidekicking and exemplaring were great ideas to span the level divide that exists in MMOs. SSK is even better. No need to get fillers or middles for me and friends to form a team. Fewer worries about the lowbies being able to navigate the high level zone without getting sniped or ganked.
1) Form team.
2) Kick butt.
3) Get butt kicked.
4) Laugh.
5) Goto 2.
Is this game turning around? I've had my doubts and reservations, but generally, it's always headed in the right direction. -
Welcome to the game, Reapey.
The player questions forum is a great place to get your questions answered by other players.
Other sources of info are www.paragonwiki.com, and the in-game help channel, which is /hc Question, not /h.
/hc How do I get to the Hollows?
How are you finding things so far? -
Is this game all about alts?
It can be. It certainly is an enjoyable part of the game, being able to make new, very different characters and grow them.
Also, your 50 is also not restricted from participating in nearly anything.
Badge hunting, high level task forces, "Master Of.." Task/Strike Forces (no deaths, no temp powers), limitless AE content, using Ouroboros to do the missions or missed, or redo (with challenge settings!) the missions you liked. PvP, or Purpling-out your character can be long term goals. Don't forget the Hami and Ship Raids!
Base building, and AE mission construction can also occupy a lot of time and creative skills. Check the appropriate forums for communities of helpful folks who want to help you add your AWESOME to the game.
As new content is added, it's not hard to get your 50 into it.
Events such as Hallowe'en 2009, have a lot of folks bringing out the 50s to get the stuff.
Due to the very neat Super-SideKicking system, you can now join up on that Level 5 PuG team, and be their mentor, without sucking all the xp and fun out.
If you are playing with your sweetie, you may want to look into the Level-Pact system. The SSK system makes it less special now, but for a dedicated duo, it's a handy thing. -
Veteran rewards, some are better than others, but that's very subjective.
Generally speaking, I like having the extra temp power attacks, the base porter, Assemble the Team, the extra costume options, including the Greek letters,
I think I've used one vet respec in all this time. I have so many alts, that I usually have a freespec, or a trial respec if I need one.
Similarly, I usually have enough free tailor coupons that I don't pay for alterations.
More badges is fine!
I don't have, but would certainly like more storage, more merits, travel powers at 6, and the Reveal power.
So, overall I like vet rewards. -
Dog-pile/zerg can work, and it is the simplest, but if that doesn't happen, we usually switch to separation from the Healing Nictus.
And since our "tank" sucked on the last run I participated in, we did it with a PB/Dwarf and Shield Scrapper.
Also, we've sniped the Essences from out of healing range. -
Statesman is actually a long-running PnP character of Jack Emmert.
Positron is actually a PnP character, not sure if it's a creation of Jack or Matt Miller. -
Enemies drop DOs and SOs based on THEIR origin, so you may wish to fight enemies of similar origins in order to get more drops you can use.
Freakshow drop tech, Circle of Thorns drop magic, etc. -
Any villain can purchase a 2hr jetpack in Grandville from the jetpack vendor for 10K. No missions required.
For an occasional cost of 10K (peanuts for high level villains) you have fly. The Pocket D jump pack caps it for 30 seconds at a time.
The other jetpacks can be scooped by completing the appropriate Ouroboros mission, or teaming up with a lowbie with the appropriate mayhem mission. -
X-Com now available on Steam for $5.00
Works just fine on Vista. -
Don't forget betting on the Rikti Monkey Fight Club!

Quote:My friend hit 50 on a Posi Task Force last DXP Monday.Oh! My next 50 has to ding while on an Atlas sewer team, that's just too "circle of life."
I then challenged him to get someone from 10 to 50 ONLY on the Posi Task Force.
Am I evil?
Also, for the OP: You could do your missions as assigned from contacts. Or, joining any team or task force or trial should get you xp, unless you have "old-school" exemplaring turned on.
Silliest 50 ding: My other friend hit 50 off an exploration badge. No kidding.
First and Best 50 ding: During last mission of the Faathim the Kind Task Force. Thanked all, hung out in the "Death Star", checked out the scenery, and reflected. -
