Best way to defeat Nictus

For those who have defeated Romulus / Nictus in ITF , what is the best strategy to defeat this guy ? I have been on two great teams so far , and have yet to defeat him .

Is it better to Taunt the healing orb away or just have enough blasters and defenders in the group to strike at a distance ?

And has anyone defeated him with just one tank in the group ?

Just trying to get an idea , I would love to have that armor for my toon , so any suggestions are most welcomed .

Generally, have enough mitigation and damage to just rush in, power through it and beat Rommy down. He'll eat a Nictus and pop back up for more.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

1 tank? In my experience, you don't even need that, so long as you have a solid scrapper or kheld (with or without dwarf, doesn't matter) to take the alpha. Toss in some nasty debuffs and go to town. It's all about how you balance your team. As long as everyone knows what their powers do, should never have trouble taking down Rommy.

Think I've only failed to take him down once, and that's because the team insisted on splitting rommy from the heal nictus. Once I bished em out enough for em to try it my way, we were in the process of owning rommy, till the rad corr dropped. The rest of the team turned into Wimpy Kiddy Baby Whiners and said we couldn't do it, and started dropping left and right....

But anyway, yeah. He can totally be taken down zergstyle with even the slightest amount of skill.

a lot of good posts on the matter in this thread. Most commonly a decent team can just wade in.

Dog-pile/zerg can work, and it is the simplest, but if that doesn't happen, we usually switch to separation from the Healing Nictus.

And since our "tank" sucked on the last run I participated in, we did it with a PB/Dwarf and Shield Scrapper.

Also, we've sniped the Essences from out of healing range.

Don't even need a Snipe attack to snipe; I've done it with eight scrappers with just nemesis staff/black wands.

You can attack the Nictus without aggroing them or Rommy, so an always "cheap" tactic is to just shoot them from range from 30' away. Killing one WILL aggro him, through, so you will have to fall back after each one.

I've found that if you don't have enough damage, taunt the healing nictus away.

I've also found that if you are heavy on defense characters, you need someone to taunt the mire nictus away, since his attack is auto-hit.
