If he partaked in the MM farm quite severely then I am not surprised he was banned. Even I knew that was a rather extreme form of exploitation and not to use it.

You may find that most of the players nowadays play AE because they are veterans and hence have already played the content quite a lot already, myself included. I've played CoV content hundreds-fold and I feel contempt to resort to AE to restrain myself from loggin out, or into a hero instead.
Therefore the AE effectively offers a virtual zone of creativity, who doesn't like that, ensuring subscribers are never bored.

I can now *slap* you in Ultra-Mode.
And you've yet to tell me dey srs stuffz about dey dekstop.

What about the days before AE, PvP IO's, Purple IO's, in fact all IO's.
Where you farmed for 'Leader'?
It's really not hard to make money these days in the market, I'm losing the significance of seeing every tom dick and harry posting forum photos of their, as you put it, ebil marketing skills. I congratulate them, but the significance is dwindling.

I can attempt to answer #1, and that is it depends which portal he/she tried. If you interact with the AE system in Atlas Park, then the portal he/she must interact with is then the Atlas Park AE system. Any other portal such as Rikti War Zone, Peregrine Island, etc would not work and would appear with that particular message.
The other two I'm not particularly sure about, I don't have the greatest understanding of the AE system, hopefully someone else can assist you there.

I have a fully slotted and purpled Trick Arrow/Archery and at the moment he's not the value I devoted him to. The debuffs are moderately effective, but with no real superior debuff in the set spammable i.e -recovery; -regen, and the fact that some of the powers don't stack really irritates me. I love TA, but I really wish they would revisit the set. I've heard so many people say TA is great with controllers, but that's because mez/mez is brilliant anyway. TA only debuffs res;def;rec;spd;tohit;dmg and a few awful mezzes: Ice Arrow which doesn't stack (I read this somewhere) and a Tier 9 power that has 300s recharge with a mediocre secondary effect.
Having said that, I can pump those debuffs out like a machine which is why I enjoy him but without a crucial debuff against AV's/EB's it needs assistance which defeats the point of an 'Offender'.

Thank you War Witch, it's all we asked for. I am grateful.

Quote:I do agree with everything you have responded with there, and it is all very well put.Sure I can. A company pulling back from a market, or delivering different levels of service to different markets is a simple concept....It's a ridiculous extreme to bring up in a discussion about the service level of a computer game, of course, but then that was rather the point. ( Post has been broken for space)
I do however have one minor point and from this I must state I am in no way addicted to gaming nor am I consumed by it. Yes, I do have a life and a very busy one!
It is simply the fact that I subscribe to this game. I do admit when I began this game upon viewing the forums my eyes met very distasteful and aggressive posts regarding the game's -then- situation and I came to the conclusion that there is no reason for these people to be claiming each of them had an equal say to that of a staff member in the NCSoft, et al. However I have a very firm understanding of what my money is worth and it was not until Positron began his rant about exploiting the newly created AE, that I began to realise I actually do have a crucial say. I would explain this but we are all EU, I feel we understand what happened then and there.
Again, I reiterate buying a PS2/3 game and what-have-you doesn't really state much about my say in the game at hand, unless it is truly unworthy of my money. The transaction has occured and I have made the choice to buy it there and then, whatever disdainful feeling I succumb to whilst playing the game is unfortunately my own fault. and if it is that appalling a situation I would desire a refund.
Yet, this is not the situation here, I feel a much bigger role in subscribing to a game that I genuinely love and would, as I am, fight for. I am not being consumed by my apprehension of losing the game but rather the fact I feel as if my loyalty is regarded as equivalent to the faecal matter we dispose daily. I honestly can accept if the EU plug is pulled I will not restart on the NA-side, and I will simply leave an incredibly disgraced customer. The only difficulty I have in the current situation is that absolutely no attempt, nor contempt to restrain us by at least posting here, is being made on our side. I'm sure I knew you briefly on the EU forums so I know you had experience there, you must surely understand that past transgressions between the EU customer and the NA-staff represent an entirely bleak future.
Of course the NA side has nothing to worry about, so they won't be moaning and they probably couldn't care about us. Let's be honest we wouldn't either if the situation were to be flipped. I fully understand that as of this moment any attempt to rejuvenate the EU standard is out of the question, it has passed the beneficial point. I'm afraid I must put my hands down and say that any attempt right now would only benefit us and us alone because again I shan't digress that actually began with them and their choice to gut Brighton. It is a tough financial situation and I am aware of that, however we have had absolutely no empathy whatsoever to our situation - I am not asking for mollycoddling and being told everything's going to be wonderful. I am asking for someone to tell us right now what the future is, I'm going to look regretfully at wasting my time, money and effort on a game that eventually dies out and they only tell us right before the hammer blow. I'm not going to unsubscribe to discover a year later the game is still thriving, somehow but equally I feel hesitant each month to confirm my next monthly transaction, am I wasting my money?
Of course a lot of us believe a server merge or server list merge or a coalition is coming, and a lot of us believe 'Going Rogue' is at least a checkpoint to confirm we will still be there then. Yet these notions are entirely equivalent to someone saying 'Korea' is coming back to the game, we have absolutely no idea whatsoever because we aren't being co-operated with. It is ironic that on these forums we have yet to recieve a response and I classify a We have been made aware of this thread and it has been passed.... incredibly condescending, at this point, because I've heard the same old man fart every day. Stop bulls.. us.
Basically what I am saying, briefly, is that as a subscribing customer I feel as if they owe us an explanation and a clarification of the current situation. What that situation is is entirely debatable but already we have had discussions of lack of marketing, relations, customer service, treatment and standards, downtimes, and to really stick it all under one umbrella an incredible severe lack of co-operation combined with unneccessary ignorance. All it takes is one post to tell us our current situation.
One post is all.

Quote:You can not be serious in deflating the situation as simple as that, I fail to understand that as a subscribing customer the situation is as minute as you play it to be. Don't get me wrong your entitled to your opinion, but I hardly think it's slightly inferior. I must point out I think your detracting from the main arguement, that is the point we've reached now, which is about our relationship with all of the staff and their failure. I don't see that many people comparing our current relationship with the staff to the NA's relationship. The situation regarding slots, server downtimes was a heated one and it has been said and left in the dust of the old EU forum, I understand other posters have said that but either they are new or they are naming but a few of the blatant problems. You're going a little heavy on the hyperbole there.
Yes, we're getting a slightly inferior service to the customers on the US servers -- fewer character slots, less convenient maintenance times and so on -- but it's not that much worse. It's not like the players on the US servers are woken in the mornings by having War Witch serve them freshly backed croissants and hot coffee while Positron fetches them their slippers and the newspaper.
Let's tone down the rhetoric a little. After all, we're talking about difference between Italian style service in a restaurant and Parisian style service -- not Jim Crow laws.
Anyway, the problem isn't that there are some reasons to prefer the US servers to the EU servers but that currently there are no reasons to prefer the EU servers to the US servers for someone new to the game. If someone were to ask me if they should sign up on the EU servers or the US servers, much as I'd like to, I couldn't in good conscience say the EU servers. Not because the advantages to playing on the US servers are all that big, but because there no longer exist any advantages to playing on the EU servers.
Unless NCSoft can provide some reason to pick the EU servers over the US servers, I don't see the state of the EU servers improving. But let me add that that's not the end of the world. It is, after all, just a game.
I must add that the "Jim Crow" point was rather random, and somewhat a questionable notion to compare to, and really convoluted your point. Noone here is making any gesture about NA being spoon-fed or has this superiority or segragational what-have-you, if they were discussing the relationship I'm sure they meant in comparison and not complaint.
What I personally believe, and by all means rationally argue with me, is that at this point we all feel as if Doom is but a switch away and we shall simply be has-beens. We will be offered no sympathy in the sense that good-paying and honest customers should be offered - at least to alleviate the situation.
As a person who didn't just go buy a £40 PS2 game and play it over four years, I am a subscriber of several accounts and as such I honestly, and not to be confused with out-right command, believe that I have a very important say. However, this is never carried further than the keyboard buttons I push now and the eyes fellow and only fellow players read.
I hardly think the situation we are in right now is as mediocre as some put it to believe it to be especially non-EU subscribers and this is not an immature dig, yet say for example - I hate scenarios and analogies personally - the servers do shut down two years from now would it not warrant at the very least to try any time to be concerned in whatever nature before it happened.
I'm honestly not all doom and gloom but I've been utterly appalled at every level of service. That is my decree on the situation right now, and that is the reasoning that fuels fellow EU players, some not all, that we are inevitably heading for an almighty guillotine.

I also should point out to you MrCaptainMan that our cynicism didn't start just 6 pages back from the start of this sub-forum. On our old forums, which I'm sure you would have had a change of heart in had you experienced them, this breeding nature of what is now Doom™ saying has long since festered before this sub-forum and this thread.
I can understand why you may arrive at the fact we are all, not your words, whining and complaining, and I understand the rather naive nature some may take towards a box but that is entirely subjective. However what is not, and specifically with subscribing my own money towards, is the fact that I - and we - are not heard.
I'm very against forum interaction such as these, since it is very confrontational and detrimental at times, but I would declare the purpose as such is that they allow a direct interaction between the developers as well as the players. A successful coalition I must add, if exploited appropiately.
Yet, since joining this game by the ironic release of the collectors box edition: City Of Villains and consequently joining the forums quite long after, I still glanced through the news, I know how long this has been going on. You must appreciate our predicament, there is no 0.05% unlikely chance, but a more likely X>25% opportunity some sort of loss will be made on our end.
And to explain how I am not in the slightest influenced by other factors is simply that over the years since the shutdown of Brighton I have observed an utterly negligent nature of interact between the EU and the NA-staff. After the loss of GR, GhostRaptor, who was basically our last EU hope, no offence Avatea, their presence diminished and to sum up the past few years a small number of threads were even made.
In fact I bet they didn't even post more threads than there is present in the Open Beta: Dual Pistols - Bugs sub-forum.
I can explain anything you still do not understand if you point it out to me.

Quote:I'm not even considering losing my toons, this isn't Korea all over again. That just failed to an epic degree. We've built these up and some of us, I've stopped and started, have subscribed since EU was given their own server. I find it a smack in the face to these subscribers especially if they were told to up and start again on US.What if you had to repurchase GR, the 4 booster packs, and any other perks you had? I'd be happy with the option to restart on the NA servers without my toons or vet rewards, but would not want to have to repay for items I already own.
After all, what's the difference between we EU-subscribers being told to move to NA but our account stays with us, with no data whatsoever - i.e all characters/etc lost - and simply starting an new NA account.

Quote:I don't understand your defensive nature, we already established -either in this thread or another- that the marketing faults are debatable. After all, if the population is dwindling, why market?! It's a double-edged sword, it could work successfully or fail miserably. We established that.
I know that Brits like to moan, I'm a hated figure in my local branch of Empik (Polish version of Virgin) because of my demanding customer service requirements, but you lot seem to me to be bellyaching about a lot of really minor crap. I feel for you if you think you don't have large enough server populations - I actually shudder when i think of being made for some reason to move to the EU servers, mostly because of the fewer players that I hear are there (and I've got no actual numbers to look at) and the comparitively small number ofservers - but ranting in caps about GETTING SHAFTED because they're only releasing GR digitally in the EU is way over the top IMO. It's EASY (I don't care what Luddites on dial up think) to purchase GR in the EU. With prepurchase, you'll be able to take advantage of a pre-download too, very probably, as they do with the normal upgrades, so when you log off, it'll dl and ready the game for you while you're asleep. This is speculation on my part, of course, but even if they don't, waiting overnight for it to dl is NOT an onerous task for any mature person. Screaming 'I WANNA BUY IT IN THE SHOP TODAY, I WANTS IT NAOW!' just looks childish.

I really don't think you appreciate our difficulties, from what I gather you are a NA subscriber so you really can not understand our predicament. Having said that, I applaud you for not waltzing in and going " Omg, lek stfu EU whine nubs" like I've heard many a time. I can't be bothered badgering this fallacy of a relationship between EU and the studio again. It's entirely subjective of course how you take it, but our fervent complaining has roots that established themselves a long time ago.
We have been ignored and for far too long. And you know the pathetic thing, even being on these joint forums has changed nothing, we just got chucked a sub-forum so we can sit in a corner and twiddle our thumbs.
The last time we attempted to get their attention, I'll state this again, is when we insulted one or two red-names. I don't think that is how attention should be brought about.
Don't underestimate our situation, it's far worse than I gather you seem to comprehend. I am not bearing on you, I just have cynicism when non-EU subscribers tell us something. I do like you.
Fury -
You've completely deluded yourself that they are exempt of all fault. They didn't help matters by slowly disintegrating what was EU in the first place. If the future lies that we will go, I wish they would do it now. They've been dragging our corpse through the desert, milking us for every ounce of blood.

Grouchybeast and Hyperstrike have both hit it on the nail actually, it seems one of other factors I didn't appreciate is how severe NAO purchasing gets.
There is a big problem with this ebay nature of 'Get it now'. I think if this is solved, we can at least deter and stop the disruptive and radical prices across everything to be honest. Well said chaps.

Hehe good story! +rep!
Fury -
The point is, whether or not you buy NAO or your impatient that doesn't largely affect the original price. If your impatient or whatever, my assumption, is you could pay up to 100% more than the original price.
That however does not explain why Magical Conspiracy is at 10million. Impatience and NAO only affects the "last 5 bids", and it's not a monkey's brain to pick in order to see that someone bought impatiently. How that affects your bidding, I don't understand. Unless your a newbie, you should know paying 1m is probably the maximum, I would, pay for any Rare Invention Salvage.
It boils down to the seller, period. If they look at the last five and see that it's been rather random, but the highest was say 1m then they'll sell it at 1m obviously. As much as I may sound contradictorily, it is the people who lack in selling skill that are disrupting the prices. Fact: Basing anything on the last 5 bids is generally going to screw over the prices.

I rescind my opinion, if you need a translation in order to understand something it's pretty good. As long as you have a grasp of the language to decipher it.
In terms of translating to a language, it's pretty bad. It has no programming of grammar, which is I suppose essential.
However I have used to understand what some people are saying, you win! Hehe.

Quote:It's not so much that, everyone EU-side unfortunately understands that marketing now is just pointless, but that roots back to the fact they gave up in the first place. And to be quite honest, they have been negligable. Atrociously as well, I used to think okay I subscribe but that doesn't mean I own them. But now I'm in the sinking ship, I friggin' have a say just as the lead designer does. The difference is they don't listen to EU. Period. To be fair, to some extent much of that feeling probably stems more from the rest of the EU playerbase "talking it up" than directly from NCSoft's handling of the market. There's not that much difference in the attention and marketing NCSoft gives CoH in the EU and US CoH markets -- it's more different shades of negligible than anything else -- so I think we should be careful to read too much into it.
The last time we were ever given a moments thought, is when we bombared Positron with insults and attacks back when he was "nerfing" the AE farms. That was in the old forums, and now that was a good few months ago. They've been completely and utterly ignorant, and I wouldn't even apologise for my opinion if they responded right this second. It's appalling, I hate analogies but do you think in a real-life situation this form of interaction would be allowed?
I think not.
