I just want people in Portal Corp period. That place is completely empty.
Moar NPCs. -
People love to complain. Happens every issue about every feature.

Quote:Calm down. What the hell do you think I do?
And die again.
And die again.
And again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and bloody again because the team is getting killed off by the huge mob of Battle Orb spamming Bosses and LTs!
We killed the Portals! We killed the other mobs! We take on Marauder and DIE. What the ruddy hell do you suggest, oh font of all bleeding wisdom? -
I approve of using characters that don't get the spotlight as much as others.
-
Quote:Agreed.Personally, I'd like to see either a new Mastermind set that was IDF-style soldiers from the future, or otherwise see customization for Mercs to use models similar to that. The only futuristic set we currently have is Bots, and those get really old, really fast once you've used them on a bunch of characters.
Speaking of the IDF, what I wouldn't give to have customization options for Assault Rifle that use those Heavy backpacks with the guns and the belts and them missiles instead of the omnigun and the other stock prop models. Tech issues, I know, but I'd still like to see it. -
Quote:But those things aren't this thing. This thing is impossible because it's this thing.Wow, it's been live for one day and people are already declaring it to be too hard and an example of bad design.
Reminds me very much of:
ITF
STF
LRSF
Kahn
Barracuda
Hamidon
Ship Raids
Apex
Tin Mage
Did I miss any?
Every single one of those things were declared "too hard" and "badly designed" when they were first released, because PuG groups couldn't just mash buttons and complete it in a half hour.
It has been ONE DAY people. Is it not the slightest bit possible that maybe there is a learning curve to it? No, can't be, it's GOT to be bad design, that's the only possible answer.
Now, if it's around for a year and people are still having the same amount of problems with it, maybe then I'll concede there are enough flaws to constitute "bad design". After only one day though, I'll treat the knee jerk reactions to it with the credulity they deserve.
For the record, I tried and failed a Lambda Sector in the little bit of time I had to play. And I saw what we did wrong right away. It wasn't a case of it being badly designed, we just plain screwed up. -
Quote:Calm down.Congratulations Paragon Studios. You just made one of my Invulnerability Scrappers powers completely pointless, and IMO made her completely piontless too.
Which one? Invincibility. It's pretty much a 'must take' for any invuln character as it provides a good chunk of your Defence and also gives you a nice little to hit boost. Well tonight I ran a lambda trial. And I got creamed repeatedly. Ad I don't mean I died a bit and got annoyed or I died 5 or 6 times. I managed to rack up a full quantity of debt on my level 50 scrapper within 20 minutes. Yes she has tier 4 and yes she has a few sets through her build but she's not softcapped (and I don't see why she should have to be either if the Dev's continue with their 'IO's are optional, we haven't made the game any tougher' mantra) but she was completely useless. Her major points are S+L Resistance which is next to useless thanks to all the fire and energy flying around, she has very little ranged defence which for a melee based character who should be 'in there' shouldn't be a necessity either. Basically she's now completely pointless and incredibly painful to play on the Incarnate trials. I feel like giving up on her and she used to be my favourite character. The trial should be difficult yes, but IMo they've taken it too far. it suits some characters perfectly and practically encourages people to softcap, simple because just about any level of resistance is utterly pointless.
Congratz Pragon, you just relegated one of my favourite to 'No i don't want to play her on this, she'll spend more time face down and in the hospital than fighting' league. -
Toss me in with the "not impressed" crowd. The window takes up half the screen, and playing with the settings has just managed to make everything look crazy and awful.
And the classic look doesn't look classic. It looks terrible. -
-
Forcing the chat box to be wider to accommodate the new buttons for leagues and queues has caused it to take up a little less than half my screen, which is bothering, annoying, and makes it harder to see my character. Any chance we could get some way to make the boxes their original size again?
And when people choose the classic look for the team window, why do we still get some new, updated graphics for the team roster? That's not classic, that's updated, and it kind of looks terrible. -
Quote:Hey look! It's Venture and he's got more complaints about a storyline! Shocking!
Venture, as we all know, history is written by the "winners." The "losers" story always gets fallen by the wayside. Where we learned something doesn't mean it's the factual truth. When the "losers" story is reintroduced, it opens people up to thinking about the same thing in more than one way. So, because YOU believe something doesn't make it to be the truth. Because others believe the opposite also doesn't make it the truth. This is where people form "opinions" on the same subject.
You can go ahead and continue to have your belief because in the end, the story has multiple endings because the devs made them that way. Just because they want you to believe something new each issue doesn't mean that their new story is the truth. It's part of "storytelling."
So just quit with the f'n ranting issue after issue about nonsence based on the beliefs you have from a fictional, expanding storyline within an online videogame that has no basis in reality. Do something productive rather than beat the same dead horse issue after issue. -
All I'm saying is wait 'til the issue itself comes out before you start raging.
-
-
Honestly, they might just be holding them until the last minute before I20 comes out. We're still supposed to get whatever that Incarnate costume is, as well. So we'll just have to wait and see, be patient, etc.

Quote:Calm down. They put the new stuff into booster packs nowadays because this is a significant source of new revenue, not because so many people are using the issue 2 "basics" or whatever.
I have no problem with boosters. My problem is with ***NO*** new costume sets included with a new issue, that we did not pay for. I understand the need for new revenue streams, but throw us a bone every now and then. Some of us have been here for 5+ years. We've sunk a lot of money into this game - including boosters. Must we have to shell out for EVERYTHING?
Rhetorical question only. -
If they bug you, ignore them and act like they don't apply. Bam.
-
Quote:Not sure if srsGR gave us awesome costume sets and pieces, as it was paid content and that will always have more quality, effort and resources. Obvious.
But GR was more than 7 months ago!
We should get costume pieces in every Issue, and it should be a monthly costume booster pack. No powers, just costumes pieces and change costume emotes. Now, if Mutant and Animal werent your theme (my case), is just annoying having to wait this long to get a new costume booster.
Want to see a sneak of whats to come! -
The sword thing sounds unnecessarily complicated, and we already have Katana.
I whole heartedly approve of reactive defense effects. I think they'd go especially well with sets like forcefields. Question, though. Would this new mechanic be applied to buffs given to other players? -
Azure's right. Manticore stated that the only reason the Fifth were removed was so players couldn't be Nazis in the original concept of City of Villains. And according to CoH novels, they were assembled by Hitler as a covert super team. They were originally sent to the US in 1939 to spy on and sabotage ships. They might not be Nazis in their present incarnation, as they might have new views in terms of political structure and what not, but they definitely have Nazi roots.

Quote:There are still plenty of good costume pieces available to everyone for free. You don't have to buy any of the booster packs in order to make a good costume, and you don't have to buy any of them period.Your zero-sum argument fails.
I cannot get the best new costume pieces without shelling out cash. If you have a way to get them for free, do share.
And the devs promised us costumes for future enemy groups, so there will be pieces in the future to look forward to. It's just a matter of patience. Looking at trends, even before boosters we never really got that many new costume parts on a regular basis, anyway.
And yes, power customization counts as a costume, since you're altering your appearance. And this includes alternate animations and weapons, as well. -
