  1. I dunno, I think they'd make for a hilarious theme supergroup
  2. I actually recreated a similar character on my home server after having made another long before. I wound up with proper dual blades, instead of merely a katana on the new one. Same name and everything, but just... you know, more like I intended. I've shuffled at least 2 characters off Protector and onto another server to make room, and set up a "theme" on that other server for them to have their own little sg.

    We have plenty of options.
  3. Unfortunately "classic and simple" is also "ridiculously common".

We have way more characters in this game than there are in published comics. WAY more. Hundreds of thousands more. In order to accomodate that, people DO need to be more inventive.

I mean, if this were real life, how many people COULD use one name? Given they might be in different cities, but - in San Diego alone, there are around 2 million people. If even a small percentage of us suddenly had powers, we'd still all have to come up with something *different* than what's already been done. (and I would imagine, also including published/trademarked names.)

It's one thing to try and get a name that "looks and feels" like a classic - but it's another to then say "but you can't have it too" - because others will also think of it as a classic, desirable name.

Be inventive. It's really not that hard.
  4. I know how it works. I'm saying, people would simply not like it.
  5. Kinweaver...

    Bloodweaver, Kinreaver. Um.

I just know there's a combination of words that would sound perfect.
  6. So all these people who are coming back after spending 4 years gone, will find their characters wiped... no thanks. The way they do it now is fine. People need to remember that there are near-infinite ways to get your ideas onto the screen. Just use em.
  7. Zekiran_Immortal

    Villians

Nope. In general you're going to find a lot fewer villains anywhere including the bigger servers.

I'd go for quality over quantity. Head down to the server sections and see if there are threads - or check out the posters who you might find there, and ask around.
  8. Now that's a cool concept.

... I'm stuck with Augur of some kind... unfortunately the name generator at 7th sanctum doesn't have either "energy" or "gravity" as options for words. :/

  9. I posted mah bewbies and you still don't believe me.

I'm a CUPPA INCARNATE. Dammit, you MUST believe me nao!
  10. And that's why I said in the post you didn't quite read, "move it to another server and keep the badges/name". Why is THAT a problem? I've known at least two Protectorites who've done just that, remade their "signature" character over again with new powersets once they were available, after having moved the original off to 'storage' on another server.
  11. Dark Augur?

Edict of Evil... that's just silly lol.
  12. This was a change during one of the last couple Issue releases. You might jump back through the release notes and see when it changed. But yes, working as intended.
  13. I would refuse to fly on an airline that didn't take off until the snobs in "first class" settled their tummies and martinis, at the expense of getting where I'm going on time.

Now you're just talking stupid crap, what, auctioning off slots to play a game which *has space on every other server* even during the peak closed times on one?

Whatever game you're playing, I'm very glad I'm playing City of Heroes where I have 11 (12, including Test) servers to play on and enjoy even during times when one whole COAST worth are down.
  14. Um, if it was worth spending hundreds of hours on, how in the world is it "destroyed"? Oh wait, this is a PvP / Nerf Whatever rant right?

And how would being able to change the AT of something *fix a character you'd already spent hundreds of hours on with those powersets*? It would be a TOTALLY DIFFERENT character.
  15. (psst: hers. <-- chicka.)

I used steve's generator to make a character for someone on a dragon 'adoption' site. His name wound up being Prince Corset.
  16. Yeah it's good for a month of muling and padding, really. But indeed, only one of the *same* boxed set code will work.

Or you could wait for someone's birthday, or whatever, it'd make a neat gift you could help someone play...
  17. Well why not just... you know, delete them and remake em? I mean, that's ... what the slots are for... Or move them to another server to keep their name and badges, and then remake it again "the right way".

Tell us what specifically you WANTED to name your character, and give us some idea about it (not just powersets but appearance, background, origin, any of your already-existing ideas) and maybe we can throw some names at you that aren't taken.

Remember that if you've got "the perfect name" but it's already in use?

Someone was just as "clever" as you. Don't go complaining because common words are already in use, there's a reason why they're "common".

    Try something uncommon.
  19. I've never once said the game is perfect.

I've asserted repeatedly, that "the game is getting the things you've asked for / has discussed the upcoming potential of getting those things / has already discounted those things as unfeasable".

You can snap as many shots as you like of your vetran rewards.

My friends who quit playing the game 4 years ago *still have their accounts open* and thus would be able to do exactly the same thing - but they haven't actually played, and neither, I believe, have you.

You believe that the game should be improving and changing: so do I.

The only significant difference here is that you seem to be unable to see *how they already ARE* doing that. And then you assert that it's being fannish to say "but they already have-" and express that we should be somehow angry that we aren't "getting more" for our money... But we ARE getting more, all the time. And you'd know that if you'd actually been here.

And also: your idea of "good idea" is not always in the game's best interest.

Your prior suggestions about "level cap" and "pvp debt" and the like? THOSE are the things I suspect you're REALLY trying to push here, and they WILL NOT CHANGE. Period - and you would also know that if you'd taken the time to read the dev digest or even do a simple search for prior discussions about it.

I don't have nerve pointing out that you aren't a regular player. It's painted across your whole posting demeanor and the content of your posts. You're trying to insult me by my post count and by presuming that I think the game is perfect. You're wrong on both sides - I have posted regularly, as in several times a day, for all these years. I've been active in the COMMUNITY that is City of Heroes. You clearly have not. So there, yes, I have a tremendous advantage over you. I have already SEEN your arguments in the form of whining about level caps and pvp changes and "why can't we have x and y because we demanded it!! nao!!" ... And it's all the same.

You haven't done anything but assert that you're "in the industry" and that things would be "easy" to implement. You've asserted that there should be more discussion about what should be put into the game: and missed the part where your OWN suggestions are already THERE.

So pretty much you've backed yourself into a corner, not understanding either how the game has progressed, nor how the forums have made a huge impact and continue to do so into the future of the game.

Of course we're arguing against you. because your argument makes no sense. You've asked for things *which are already in the game*. You've hinted at things *which have already been stated by developers as never - ever - gonna happen*. Get over those because you're not going to convince them.

Play the game. Get the updates. Buy the expansion. Oh my where was that new content? Oh yeah - in the free issues and the expansion pack! I just cannot understand how you don't see what you're asking is already there and is continuing full bore, into the next year of releases.
  20. Except that the devs of this game have already provided the IDEAL solution to this "problem".

Play on one of the OTHER DAMN SERVERS. Because they're NOT going to give you a special gold star and let you on a full capped server, peak time, just because you're special.

This is exactly the same argument as "why can't I buy Vetran time rewards?" and "you should let us get new enhancement slots with real money".

Because the people - like myself - who are on a tight budget can't do this, and if you can, that's not "fair". Right now, and forever most likely, things will continue to be on a level playing field.

You want to get in on Freedom for a busy weekend? Get on. Enjoy. Enjoy the lag, the disconnects, the amazingly annoying broadcast chat, the wobbly server mishaps, and everything else.

You want to play the GAME during that time? You might want to remember that everyone else and their brother are also trying to do the same thing, AND have exactly the same right to do so as you do.

They're never going to give preferential treatment to a small group of people during the couple days when this might become an issue.

Get on another server, with your wife and your friends. If they're tired of ALSO having to drag around with lag and rubberbanding and disconnects, and they are "good" friends... they'll go with you eagerly. As it stands you're making not only your sg look stupid as hell by claiming they can't possibly get along without you and/or you can't possibly get along without them for a couple days if you're on another server, and you're definitely making me wonder whether your wife actually gives two rodent's behinds about the situation at all, having not heard her chime in here yet.

Maybe you should *try to do what everyone else is able to do*, what the developers INTEND you to do, instead of making insanely unreasonable demands about hardware, programming, and social snobbery / money, and hit another server for a couple days.

    You might even LIKE it.
  21. Well the issue there is, they HAVE been upgrading some of the older sets.

And every time they do, people throw a hissy fit. It's like clockwork. Remember the hair? Ogod I remember the hair.
