  1. My take on it is that is was the major component on two releases; one of which opened up powerset proliferation (with promises of more) the other gave us an entire zone and a task force.

To me, that's kind of a waste if they're not going to do anything further with it.

It's like they've started a book and published it not even half finished.
  2. Maybe restrict it to Lt or higher ranked critters...

and/or weaken its effects (when compared to the player version); -50% range, shorter duration, etc.

Also, doesn't one of the Leadership Pool powers protect/resist against Taunt?

[I do agree that the target switch may be a pain but I'm not getting your continued references to mezzing mobs. I know that there a a couple of melee sets that utilize mezzes but there are far more mezzes available to the ranged class.]
  3. I don't understand allowing players access to Bank maps if they can't utilize the Vaults.

Unless something's changed since the last time I've worked with the map; you cannot specify items to be set into the Vault room.

Similar thing with maps that use cell doors; you can't put people or objects into those cells.

Is there a way to have those specific types of maps open up a separate class of mission goals that allow for the spawning of persons or objects behind vault doors or cell doors; with a quantifier for the latter type (ie. X cell door objectives where X=number of cell doors)?
  4. Although Scorpion Shield has Toxic resistance; it doesn't allow for resistance slotting.

    Oversight or intentional?
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Because custom critters don't have taunt. If they did it would be extremely annoying. For one thing, it would force ranged characters into range of their often mezzing melee attacks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am aware that they don't have Taunt and up until recently; melee critters didn't have ranged attacks either.

As far as annoying; is getting pulled into their range as bad as being '3-shotted' (as I've heard) from a distance? [Not that melee custom critters are exclusive in their access to mez attacks]
  6. Are there any further plans to expand on 'Origins'?

We've already had two Issues whose releases were based around their existence; Breakthrough and The Midnight Hour but the whole of it still seems abstracted...
  7. Do custom critters have to have a ranged damage-based attack?

Why couldn't they just have used the Taunt 2.0 fix that was made just for this type of situation (found in PvP)?
  8. Thank you to everyone that's played/rated the arcs so far.
  9. Personally, I like VS (at least for my Corr):

Good DPS, Pet Recharge sets and I can slot a stun proc in him. I don't need to keep him up all the time, I usually just summon him right before a fight.

    Great DPE.

If I have to resummon, no biggie, to me it's just like making a high DPS attack.

My only complaint is that he aggros you (since he can't aggro himself)

Because it's supposed to be a Virtual Universe inside a Virtual Universe?

Besides, the AE Browser lets you filter Arcs based on morality, and isn't I15 all about Going Rogue, switching morality and taking your character on the road to redemption or condemnation?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not I15, I15 is just the 5th Column filler.

    The mood on MA

    [ QUOTE ]
I feel very badly for you, being forced to play a game run by incompetent, untrustworthy fools.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Kinda sounds like a game called life.
  12. Arc #95278: Gathering the Four Winds:

    Guns, girls and witchcraft.
    Light plot.
    3 mission arc
Challenging: Lts/Bosses; standard class MMs, Kins and Empaths

    Arc #177826: Lights, Camera, Scream!:

Film crew looking to find stars for their horror movie projects.
    Light but building plot.
    Campy horror.
3 mission arc (1 large outdoor map; not a kill all)
    Varying difficulty.
Try playing in 1st person POV

All feedback is welcome and will take suggestions on changes into consideration; here or in-game.

I'm not heavy on critiquing others but I will return plays and ratings.

A new toon will have access to everything until his decisions start to lock him out of some or decrease the likelihood of getting others. The same toon at 50 may not have all of the same accesses (without having to do whatever's needed to change alignment) but the accesses are there at some point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure how you determined this. It seems pretty clear that you will have access to one side initially (Paragon if Hero and Rogue Isles if Villain) as well as Praetoria, and then eventually by changing alignment you can gain access to the opposite side and lose access to you starting side.

If they do implement a true "gray area" for characters to start, it will either be in Praetoria or in some new area we haven't heard about yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not saying that a toon will be able to have his choice of side and corresponding content right out the box but he can feasibly do all available content before he hits 50 (unless it's a non-EAT; then by default, he won't have access to EAT missions unless he teams with one as well as the tutorials (if they're not in Ouros)).

Being able to turn off XP (or horde debt) can be used to slow the toons progress so he doesn't outlevel content, while still being able to move the 'compass/meter'.

In conjunction with repeating 'moral' missions (unless there's something put in place to prevent this); farming the compass could turn out to be easier/faster than anticipated.

At mid to high levels, the Flashback system can also be manipulated (on it's own or in cojunction with the other techniques) to fill in any missed content that's available through that system.

There might be content, however, that will not be available to a toon that crosses the moral threshold.

It wasn't my intent to debate this or even dig this deep into it; was just pointing out that the demand for more content has been met in spades... as well as the demand for powers expansion; subsequently bringing up the question, "What's the next big thing?"

    *smacks forehead*

I've apparently been mentally filtering that option out since the MA was introduced. I wonder if I could use it to save a little space on non-combat customs. Hm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know, haven't really toyed with them much outside of using them as contacts
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Huh? How did that work? As long as I've been using the MA the only way to "assign powers" that I knew of was through the custom character creator.

    [/ QUOTE ]

'Person' is right below Arch-Villain on the creator screen.

    [ QUOTE ]
There were a LOT of defender allies in the mission, and I still got two levels from that one mission. I think, like what happens with confused enemies, you don't get full experience when an allie helps you inflict damage. But these guys didn't have attacks. They just followed you around, so all the damage was from me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not possible to design custom critters with no attacks; that was one of the things modified early on in the MA. However, there does seem to be a loophole where you can set allies to "non-combat" and still have their PBAoE buff toggles affect you. I thought that had been considered a bug and was fixed prior to i14 live, but I encountered a mission that seemed to indicate that either the fix didn't take, or was re-introduced.

I was actually considering using such allies to help mitigate what was otherwise a too-difficult mission for some players, but I resisted because I suspect the devs will change that when they get the time to do so. I'm actually a little surprised the tactic doesn't exist in more farm missions than it does; it seems to indicate farmers do in fact want at least some challenge to go up against and not just a cakewalk. (Or they just haven't figured out the trick yet in sufficient numbers.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

For awhile, it was possible to assign powers to 'Person' class NPCs; they don't attack but they still had their toggles. I checked today to see if that option was still available; it seems that it isn't.

This should be a very interesting turn of events:

Side switching should give a new player access to every mission/arc available to any toon; whether it's 1 to 50 or 50 to 1 (via Ouros). Safeguards, Mayhems, TFs, Trials, STFs, etc.

They should, in theory, have access to every badge and/or accolade - they better work out the kinks on those that are represented on both sides.

They'll be able to play both sides of the PvP equation.

    Have access to all maps.

In theory, have access to all Patron/Epics.

In theory, be able to unlock both EATs with any archetype (perhaps even with one toon).

Combined with Ouro and MA; the demand for more content has pretty much been filled (at least for a time)

So once content is a minimal issue and the issue of access being dealt with in a big fashion, what's the next big thing?

    [/ QUOTE ]

See, but you're forgetting the morality meter is likely going to lock most of this at any ONE time. I also doubt you'll get "full" access to both sides using Oroborous, (if you did, I'd fully expect the act of doing Villainous or Heroic content in O to shift your morality meter as well, and eventually lock you out of one side) (might be a good excuse to bridge the Oroborous zones into a zone for both sides). We don't know how they'll handle Patron/Epic/APP pools yet. You'll have access to most all the badges, except that afaik most of the accolades have a "copy" of the same one on the opposite side, I suspect those badges would simply "flip" to their opposite side equivalents ("Freedom Phalanx Reserve becomes "Freedom Phalanx Fallen" "Servant of Recluse" becomes "Former Servant of Recluse" etc. "Villain" becomes "Reformed" etc. or vice-versa. I doubt you'd have access to "ALL" badges on "ALL" sides "ALL" at once, since...well that would be sort of ridiculous. The specific badges you had would mark your progress as a character from one side to the other. Let's say you were a villain from 1-25, and then became a Hero from 26-50. You'd have a handful of Villain badges (whatever you earned up to 25) and then when you switch, some of those will "flip" to their Heroic equivalents and some will stay, and then you'll begin picking up Hero badges from then on. Someone looking at your badge list could probably "tell" at what point you changed, and shifted away from you old life, to your new one. My guess is something like that is what the Devs are aiming for. Given Posi's recent post and actions taken regarding the "Villain/Reformed" badge issues, I think he's thinking along similar lines as well.

Again, the key is, you'll likely never have access to everything all at once you'll have to pick and choose from time to time. The only possible exception I could see is a "Spy" or "Double Agent" or someone sitting firmly in the center of the morality meter the entire time (which I expect to be an extremely hard proposition to do). Plus, if it starts getting used to massively "powergame" or "exploit" the original dev intent to a massive degree (i.e. MA Farming). I'm sure things will be changed to better fit the plans intended.

I did mention badges/accolades having cross-side equivalents needing to be looked at before implementation (huge potential for bugs and/or doubling up of benefits).

It's funny to see such heated debates when we hardly know a thing about the new systems in ROGUE.

lol, this isn't a heated debate... at least I hope not.

    AE Teleporter?

    [ QUOTE ]
... or alternately, if you're on a team, treat it like a train mission. Go to the nearest AE building, hit the stream, and be there.

    Either one's good with me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even for soloing lowbies blueside that are managing both MA and normal content; this would be a nicety for them. Redside is somewhat too linear for this type of use.

I don't mean to sound snarky, but why?

I really don't see the point of this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

About as functional as the Market Teleporter.

    AE Teleporter?

Can we get a teleporter installed into the AE buildings to take players from an AE building in one zone to an AE building in another zone for a nominal ticket cost?

Or an AE TP power available as a craftable, vet or accolade power that accomplishes the same thing?

  22. You could build it into the story so by the time that the escort is attacking you; he's doing so because he believes you've already betrayed him.

MA is so dead that I have 51 plays on my arc so far.

    Golly, I didn't realize.

    /sarcasmoff

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, you have 51 rated plays... there's no way to determine, at this time, how many different people have played without rating your arc (between badges).

    The mood on MA

    [ QUOTE ]
It is okay and it is a good thing. Don't try to marry exploits/outliers to content that can be farmed in general they are not the same.

In terms of the AV, EB, Boss and LT missions they do not fall into the expliot category nor the outlier category. Castle's all AV mission would be an example of this.

If your point is nobody should be making missions that can be farmed with MA, I would just say that crusade is a total waste of time. People are going to make missions that can be farmed with MA and they will farm them, period. None of those people are in ANY danger of being banned etc... anymore than your average BM or TV farmer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agree. And pretty much what I've been driving at since before the announcement.
