I got three words for you.
Steam. Holiday. Sale.
I already got the games planned out I'm looking for when it hits this year. Last year I got 5 games for like $22. -
Probably Spines, or Claws with /wp. /wp is definitely the secondary for mindless killing.
-
Quote:+1. Again, not bad sets, but if I'm listing sets I want to do end game stuff with those two lose out. Now, before everybody gets their panties in a bunch, you might list other sets lower and that's fine. You would just happen to be wrong.on their own both sets perform fine at end game, compared to most other support sets though they underperform due to lack of variety.
P.S. It's a game. Have fun. If a set is fun for you, screw the nay sayers. -
Just pointing out my Rad/sonic soloed speed wise as fast as any other builds outside of my Claws/regen up to 20, and as mentioned before this was before the inherit got changed. People seem to forget there is damage scaling 1-20 as well and this helps defenders.
-
Claws. Even just using the one combo on my DB scrappers is still more than I have to deal with on a Claws scrapper. Claws has better instant mitigation. I still like DB. It's one of my more favorite sets, but Claws is much more pure "go" as where DB can be "If I want to do A, I then need to do B and..."

Ice/cold corr would be a good pick. I know Silverado(?) was using one to solo AVs. Although not a themed pairing(I even changed the colors of the powers to match), but my Ice/mm blaster has been my favorite blaster to play. It's a great balance of ST, AoE, and controls. That, or a Ice/ice blaster really shouldn't have an issue with a EB. EBs to me tend to be inspir fodder so any of those would be cheap to build in order for them to handle EBs.
Other options would be a Rad/sonic defender, or the corr version. Sonic works great for a blaster as well. The stacked -res with -regen does wonders on EBs. My Rad/sonic held it's own as a soloist even before the defender inherit change. -
Quote:I have one of all three.Howdy all. Wanna do something I haven't tried in a long time: roll a scrapper (I mostly play Brutes for melee punching of things). I want to try two things I haven't tried before: /SR, and a Scrapper weapon set (I've tried War Mace already Brute side).
So I guess my choices are Katana, Dual Blades, and Claws? Do any of these go along with /SR particularly well in terms of gameplay strength (keeping in mind that I don't try hard at all to minmax, here)? Or can I pick one and be happy with any of them?
Thanks!
Kat/sr. By far the smoothest ride to 50 of the three. If you just want something to get to 50 and aren't really going to invest in the build a bunch, I would go with this. DA alone will save your butt a number of times as /sr develops.
Claws/sr. It's a nice mix of everything really. You get a nice ST chain. You get AoE. You have two powers that offer mitigation and both of them can be used at range. It's like Kat for me in that it's tough to say anything bad about the set. It won't be as smooth in terms of durability, but it blooms early in terms of offense thanks in vast part to Focus. I can also make a case that it could be more durable than Kat, but you'll be waiting until level 32 to get that type of mitigation as where Kat gets it's big mitigation tool at 8.
EDIT: I forgot to add Claws will be the most end friendly of the three.
DB/sr. DB is similar to Claws, but has more offensive potential versus lesser mitigation. The good news is you can soft cap with /sr so you may not really "need" much more mitigation than that. I vastly skip the combos outside of the AV one. Sweeping Strike is seriously one of my favorite melee attacks in the game and that's without it finishing off the AV combo, or getting a crit. Granted, my other favorite melee attacks are basically in Claws and Kat.
In short, I really do like them all so if you have a concept for one that sticks out more than another, go with that one. -
Fire, Spines, and Elec should be the top three. I haven't tried Elec to know which of the three I would take. Personally speaking, I like Fire better than Spines, but the reason has nothing to do with AoE. Gut feeling tells me Elec will be fun, but again, I haven't tried it.

I was playing my DB/elec today and thought about how good a Kat/elec would be and then I tried to remember if I had made one already, or not. I haven't, but I still like my DB/elec. I know it won't be as sturdy, but it's going to put out more AoE. My DB/elec is only 28 so I'm still waiting to form an official opinion on /elec. Right now the best I can say is that it seems decent. Once I get into my 30s and 40s then I'll feel better about it one way, or another.

I really won't miss a TV movie and that's considering I watched every single episode.

Quote:If you want to be an agro magnet then WP is the last place to look. For me, I like Ice and Dark on a tank. Ice is the best at holding agro and Dark has a nice set of tools with the best single heal in the game. Dark will be much heavier on end, thanks to the heal, but I find it still manageable. /stone is my default melee pick for tanks as well. My Dark/stone tank will be one of few builds I actually invest the better IOs in just because I love the build so much.If you're interested in being an agro magnet, I will assume you are taking taunt. If my assumption is right willpower may be a very good choice for you
Now, on a brute I care very little about argo since I play them more like a scrapper and my MMs more like tanks, but WP on a brute is really good. Shield for either works, but takes more investment for the payoff to happen. A SS/shield brute is a monster, but it also requires a lot of investment for it to really shine. -
Quote:It looks spray can painted on.I have to agree with you, also I think this costume is over rated. Looks wierd to me. Its going to seem odd when they make the Avengers movie and everyones costumes look more like there "Iconic" costume versions comic book counter parts (Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Nick Fury, Black Widow), then their leader (Capt) comes in with a baggy costume, 2 stripes, and helmet lol.
Not to say the movie's will be bad, but the costume doesn't seem right to me. I am all for change and tweeks but something just seems really off about this.
That said I have no problem with how the villains look thus far, I am just not liking the Captian America costume. -
Quote:OK seriously. You are going to spend a billion as in it starts with a b to be nothing more than a gloried leech* on a team and vastly bored most of the time as you site there and likely heal people that don't really need to be healed. (bangs head on desk) Either, go roll a controller since controllers are the team support AT in this game, or stick with games where heals matter. Hell, even in (another game) where I play a (the definitive healer class) you'll see my guy in melee bashing on things and only using heals as needed. Pure healers in this game can't be nuked fast enough and aren't even worthy of being scrapped from the bottom of my Ill/emp's shoe.I could spend about a billion on this guy. Hes pretty much my new main.
* Glorified because of the still rampant healer mentality people have in this game and their ability to say "nice heals" and to not do missions until they have a "healer" and various other things tied to the healer mentality. Leech is because when you get added to a team the spawn size goes up, and if you aren't killing your share, then that means the rest of the team is making up for it while you are still getting the exp. I've been on teams where the support was hell bent on just doing support and the rest of the team couldn't keep their blue bars from being flatlined. -

Even as somebody who buys two gallons of milk myself when I get groceries, that's....a lot of milk to be drinking in a short period of time. I'm getting better at only using milk for food, but I still go through it fast enough.
But I'll just add to the growing chorus that the one meal a day deal is horrible for your health. Your body simply isn't built to handle that much food in one take. For me breakfast is a bowl of cereal(no cooking), lunch can be stir fry(store brand marinade, chicken breast, cup of instant rice, nuked fresh veggies so it's not that difficult to cook) and then something like spaghetti for dinner. About the only thing I even have left over is pizza since I eat half of it per meal. For working out, I have two 25lb. hand weights and that's it. -
BA will do more damage compared to BS, but BS gets Parry so it's a more defensive set. Parry will likely be a godsend on a /dark scrapper because it will limit the amount of times you need to use Dark Regen, which is your biggest area for end drain since it has a base cost of 33. Your base end is 100. You do the math.

Quote:Dark/dark blaster, please. I would be subbed just to play one. The secondary would give the blast set just enough ST damage to smooth out Dark Blasts lack of a 3rd ST attack. Add in utility in spades and I think it would do rather well. Ice/dark would be another that I would really want to do as well.Personally, I dont think Dark Control or Dark Assault are needed, and I WAY more want to play Fire/Dark and Illusion/Dark than I would want to play Dark/X.
One problem of a Dark/dark controller is that they have to make it unique enough to differentiate it from a defender considering the defender's version has a lot of control already. I don't see how it isn't one of the instant best control sets for control. With all of that -tohit and controls, incoming damage should really be cut down with a Dark/dark controller. -
Oh, and sell enhancements at the correct stores. Correct store meaning if it's at least partly of tech origin, then sell it at a tech store. Croatoa and Faultline's stores suck no matter what unless those have been changed.

Definitely switch to at least common level 35 IOs when you can. Going level 25 common IOs is decent enough as well considering a level 25 common IO is 1.33% less effective than a +0 SO and that's without ED. Once you learn the market, you will never need "money" again unless you are pimping out a character and that's depending on how much you have and how much you want to pimp out the character.

A tweaked version will eventually be ported over. [/thread]
