For comparison, Super Jump and Super Speed are 0.45 eps.
As usual, they forgot to change Khelds. Peacebringers get Energy Flight at level 1, but it still costs 2 eps. On the plus side, Group Energy Flight (the PB version of Group Fly) only costs 0.52 eps.

ya found this out the hard way exemped for the Posi TF
Castle has promised it tho...
energy fly promise -
Has anyone verified that a microfilament in swift will buff both running and hover/flight speed...? This would be very useful in one of my alts cases, where I already 3 slot swift with run enh and was debating on additional slots to increase Hover speed

can't wait for the new fly testing TopDoc.
marking and bumping the thread -
Yay you finally posted your guide!
Thanks for finally sharing this with everyone, GREAT job.
I have watched and adopted your/Ice's strategy with a zero death rate, when the team has allowed me to do this. What's unfortunate, is that many experienced players still think the best strategy is the team rush - because sometimes that does indeed work, so they feel its best.
I have watched sooo many team wipes when I have a team that doesn't listen, and watch as they rush it, wipe, rez - and repeat a few times until there are so many spawns there is zero chance of finishing. Then theres the peeps that won't listen and try to TP etc
I have indeed soloed a cyst with my stone tank in his 40s when the Kheld had a fairly poor human build, and after watching you have successfully soloed many a cyst with my Kheld...the most challenging situation for me has still been (b) where a mob/cysts are together.....learned the hard way that a ranged pull causes a spawn
Question still remains with me for WS's. Are they also the best suited to solo the Cyst? -

Guide to inspirations
The number one most important thing to know about inspirations is:
Always keep a slot open!
If you get filled up with inspirations you cant get new ones, thats just a big waste! Obviously you should keep most of your inspirations in reserve for that hard fight, or that evil boss. You have to keep one slot open though, you just get too many from fighting. When all your slots are used up, use an inspiration, even if you really dont need it. It will help you mow through minions even faster, if your lucky youll have several buffs on, be full health and full endurance after killing a dozen minions in record time, and still have all your boss killing inspirations saved up!

QFT
it amazes me how many veteran players run around full of inspirations - makes me insane when they are low on end, health or something and I try to pass em an insp and they are full..arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh hhh.
Me, I am too greedy for a free bonus, so I always pop my least needed insp - in a good mish, I have gone through 10-20 insp and left with as many as I started, and got all the acc/dam/def etc bonuses along the way. -

Some info.
Price on each of the stations, magic and tech, are 15000 prestige. They take no control and no energy. They can craft salvage into The first 4 types of components (Material, Power, Hardware, and Prototype for tech, Element, Foci, Essance, and Glyph for magic)
Here are the powers they grant. I did not have a chance to try them out, not enough components yet. (I will use the tech material cost, magic is the same costs with the matching component. Element <--> Material, Foci <--> Power, Essance <--> Hardware, Glyph <--> Prototype)

There was also, at least on the magic station, the very last tab to the end. It hinted at making a level 2 station, but I could not make it. It said 36 Essance and 12 Foci. The description for the tech equivaliate, however, mentioned something about an item to prevent destruction of base items during raids. Bug or different trees, not sure.
Also, there was a tab in each called 'Invention'. There were 2 receipes, both taking 5 Abberiant Tech and 2 Amulets called 'Enhancement Test' and 'Enhancement Test 2' with a subtitle in each of 'Craftin' Enhancement Test'n'. Again, could not make either of those. Will dupe my character to spawn excess salavge tomorrow to better test.

has anyone compiled any numbers for these yet - any of them..? -
On my 50 MA/Invuln, and many of my lower scrappers, I actually tend to slot a recharge on 1-2 of my best BI attacks, rather than end redux..works out pretty well most of the time - when end becomes and issue I use conserve power
more damage faster=fast mob is eliminated
AV battles and such, almost alway have SB, AM, RA or something -

1. Prima Guide in Print. Not happening. EB site is incorrect. You could go to the prima guide site and post in their forums that if they made a hardcopy available that you would purchase it - and if they get a large enough response they might do it - but for now we are giving it out for free digitally.

booooo
I bought both binders for this reason, and was prepared to pay for the inserts. Odd that all the effort went into the content and now not for sale...rather foreboding actually....

2. Character Transfer Service (from one server to another) - we are closer than we have ever been with this. I hope we see it around I8.

YYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
bring it baby. I am lined up and waiting. Just make the charges reasonable.
I assume you have already thought through things like duplicate/pre-existing names etc.
Wolfi -
very nice guide. brief, useful, and accurate, at least IMO
-
great stuff as always.
Whats the Scrapper resistance cap? -
1. its clearly still and honor system, but I think this will make it a lot easier, otherwise how will an SG differentiate whats donated for the SG and whats private, unless the SG/VG deems that all storage if for your own use only, which really defeats 80% of the purpose IMO.
I know/trust the vast majority of the SG. They have been warned that all take and no give, or taking from the private room, will result in being booted, flogged, and their kats set on fire.
2. I still want two rooms
a. for the reason originally stated for public and private storage
b. I craft both Tech and Arcane in my VG (SG is all tech)
For my SG I craft arcane into components and trade it with another SG that is all arcane.
Thus I will always have two workshops and two rooms anyway.
I am waiting a bit longer to build an empowerment station until a bit more is known what can be built. Given I couldnt teach/get 2/3 of the SG craft components, I don't think most will miss this for a bit.
Once I do build a station, I plan to have salvage storage in each, and will store rare salvage in the Arcane/Private room where SG mates won't touch it. -
[ QUOTE ]
Our SG/VG is actually having a long talk about this. While the logs will tell you who just swiped half the stuff...the damage has been done. Your Lvl 53 HammiOs, your rare salvage, and your collection of Betamax videos are all gone. And the reality is...you likely won't get them back.
We're trying to develop a 'strategy' to enforce common courtesy. But to be honest, while we don't *expect* any problems, we can't come up with anything better than "don't leave anything around you can't bear to part with."
Because unless you want to restrict taking things out of the bins to Rank 3s or 4s...which is tedious to them to have to play shopkeeper and makes the logs less useful...it's an honor system, and quite frankly demotion/VG expulsion might not be a good enough deterrent.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wanted to share the idea I just implemented for my SG/VG.
I bought two sets of all 3 storage, one for the Tech room, and one for the Arcane.
The Tech room has been established as *public* storage, and anything dropped off there is for anyone to use.
I have asked people to keep enhancements to SO's, until we find the revised amount the bin will hold.
People are asked to stop in the base and drop off Inspirations and SOs as they can, as well as dump all salvage.
The arcane room if for items to be dropped that you wish for your personal use and alts, most especially SOs and HOs.
So far it seems to work, although getting the idea clearly across takes some re-iteration.
Feel free to copy, make suggestions to improve, etc -

does anyone else see this as the solution to the lack of end game content? I do. I still think a single ball in a single zone with no set rules or purpose is the way to go. if no one touches the ball for a minute or so it comes to a stand still and stops bouncing. Let any games be totally player constructed and player governed.

it would certainly be better than the lame-o PvP :P -

I do have to admit though... it is somewhat distressing in that we've gone from 4 updates/year to 2/year and we are looking at Issue 9 possibly being the paid expansion. Looking at that, one could legitimately say that we are getting less and paying more for it.

here here
[/ QUOTE ]
the fact that we got free expansions to date, doesn't make it inherently wrong that we will pay reasonable amounts in the future.
I for one don't mind, if this accelerates new content, powersets, etc by directly funding more dev resources. If it simply fattens their bottom line, that on the other hand isn't so amenable -

This is how it's worked for me when tanking or blasting, too. Stuff that isn't taunted is easy to piss off. Stuff that is taunted keeps hitting the tanker until taunt wears off.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have noticed more than once the last few weeks now that I am actively playing my tank where I have had a small mob aggro'd via punchvoke and aura, the blaster or PB starts gettting attacked anyway in retaliation to a blast (not an AOE even) and when I taunt they then stay on me....go figure....
[/ QUOTE ]
That could be a duration issue. Taunt-effect's duration can be extended with Taunt Enhancements. If you are using a slow activation/recharge attack for the taunt-effect (or aura misses), the taunt'effect's duration may end before your next attack.
[/ QUOTE ]
my aura (mud pots) and my aoe both have taunt duration in them, as do my taunt - so not sure...may have to do some more scientific testing - but I constantly see stuff that just seems that taunt holds aggro better than mudpots, etc. -

great news on the i8 content and stuff for veterans woot!
I'll gladly fork over some cash for the next retail box upgrade if you promise to hire more coders with the money and get it here faster and some CoH content
and PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE fix SG limits!!!! -
great guide, and one I think illustrates taunt is still a very useful tool along with puncvoke, not at all made obselete. (something I see every single time I play my tanki.)
I have long meant to write a brief guide on tanki and scrappi taunt, their differences, and most especially tactical and strategy uses, as they can be used for more than just simple aggro.
great work! -
I agree...we use our coalitions alot, including the way to communicate and share the base when you grow and have to go through the nasty painful process of making a second SG for alts, 50s etc ....
-
I can't believe no one caught this yet:
"It is fart better to balance your supergroup between dictatorship and democracy"
what kinda smelly SG do you run anyway! -
*note - just made space to recruit ~5 or so active players and their alts, who fit the Pack*
Super Group Name: Wolf-Pack, and Wolf-Pack Elite
CoV - Wolves of the Apocalypse
Website: not yet, we currently run a Yahoo group that we actively post on, upload files, guides, links.
Likely will do a guild soon, but this works very well and is easy.
Global Chat: @Wolfen
Leaders: my Wolf Alts, and an Assistant SG and VG Leader
I am seeking someone who is active enough to eventually possibly be an SG or VG assistant leader as my current two have RL issues
Recruitment Officer: @wolfen. I usually screen all candidates, but SG mates can invite prior to my doing so.
Coalitions: We are blessed with some amazing coalition partners (and are maxed out) including the Ghosts Reborn, Midnite Elite, Z-Force, Exiled SWAT, as well as all Praesidium SGs.
Contact: prefer a PM here, or a tell in game
Characteristics of Wolf-pack:
- we started ~15 months ago. I have played for about 28 months. (not that time means much really.)
- the SG is mostly skilled casual players with 1-2 years experience, but few/no number geeks, just a strong grasp of game mechanics. (I am finally getting some to use HeroPlanners, sigh)
We do take the occasional new player under our wings as well.
Most Wolfers are also altoholics. The problem with casual players who have real lives and alts is we fill the SG up with 20 people and their alts and may only get 4-5 online a time, given some play CoV and CoH.
Thus, I just made a 2nd SG for non active 50s and alts (Wolf-Pack Elite) to open up room for more players and a few of their alts. (3 initially)
- at the moment most SG mates are spending more time in CoH again, but this tends to cycle, and I am gearing up for another CoV push and will be allowing Wolfers to recruit in CoV.
- we ban Powerleveling and insist people learn their powersets. Its ok to sidekick and stuff, but even in an i6 world if you play the entire time sidekicked 20-30 levels higher, you missing half the game, and its progression.
I don't care if you have 12 50s - if its your first whack at a new archetype/powerset, it pays to learn the powerset progession.
- we focus on team play. You'll find the SG fairly light on tanks, as they tend to attract the worst players for using tactics. (Leroy - charge! is not a tactic) (We definately welcome good tanks though!)
Outsiders playing with a mostly Wolfer team almost always comment on our effectiveness
- generally someone will take charge of the mish - pure chaos usually breeds debt. (and while debt is unavoidable, people take it too casually IMO, and can use it as an excuse for sloppy play.) Usually the biggest cause of Wolfer debt is Wolfers have a hard time leaving a buddy - "Wolf-Pack retreat" is one of our weaker plays because everyone is too willing to go down for the rest.
- Wolfers use basic team work to win and avoid death/debt. A good team of 4 Wolfers will easily get through a +3 mish where 8 die...quality, not quantity. Personally I think 8 man teams, unless you know all the players, are over-rated.
- the SG is about 40% female...they make strong team players so I actively recruit both genders.
- we don't take minors...its an adult SG ranging in age from low 20s to mid 40s.
- we ask you play in SG mode as much as you can and will provide influence when you are in your 30s to assist with the SG mode impact. Obviously its critical you have cash for SOs.
- I global all SG mates, as well as use a chat channel, Wolfers Chat, so that we can chat across COH, COV, and other servers. (although most of us play 90% on Protector)
- have a full base with all available zone teleports, a rez chamber and an Autodoc. Both our CoV and CoH base are saving up for Plot upgrades.
- Wolfers thrive on sarcasm, cutting up, and occasional crudeness. (usually the women...) :P
We also help each other and will switch alts, drop a mish, exemp, or do what it takes to help a Wolfer in need. When you see an SG mate online, you know a quality player is there to assist.
So if this is appealing to you, and you have an alt or alts that want a home, do send me a tell or PM - I am looking to get some new players into these freed up SG slots the next few weeks.
cheers
Wolfi/William
