So your saying if the devs asked us before making any consumables, players wouldn't ask for one that increased influence gain and drop rates?
-
Going with the original theme of the thread, Necro/Dark.
But if you -must- have thugs, the Bruiser isn't as much of an issue anymore. With the run into melee AI he's actually golden. The Arsonist is gonna be the one you'll have to babysit. -
Quote:I will tell you good sir! What difference would it make? Any character that relies on holds is going to use their holds whether or not they stop them. They're a good source of damage.
This is a suggestion to help players with support type holds. Think Poison, Time, or Dark defenders/MMs/Corrupters with their single target holds. If solo, with AVs scaled down (or not ) Their holds are not a good source of damage. However when triangles are down, if they can stack the mag4 (Mag7 for EBs I believe) it would be a good source of mitigation for those 25s.
Being able to see the triangles will tell them when it's not a waste to cycle their holds. -
Quote:Also, your idea is frontloaded. Ex: If there are 8 enemies, you get 8 seekers. While certainly what inspired me, no, there's a big difference in that this idea does not make the seekers infinitely recursive.
Mine isn't. You get your initial seeker(s), which would grow in number as you kill stuff. -
-
Make the Recluse's Victory AVs drop PvP recipes instead of regular recipes and enhancements.
Be more of a reason for people to care about Pillboxes, instead of just fighting under the statue, and add a reason to fight them more than once. -
Quote:Bots have insane levels of -regen, making AVs and GMs little more than targets, as well as strong defense buffs, and some natural resists. They have intermittant -damage and tohit in the form of probot seeker drones, and the A-bot has huge AoE.For some reason I've had a hard time looking at bots. They seem "bulky" somehow. But I'm curious, do the Bots and Demons rate so high for most folks because of the primarily ranged attacks they seem to have? Or do they have better defenses and resists than other pets? And what is with Thugs? What makes them so strong?
Secondary wise, I plan to mostly tinker with Dark, Thermal, Pain, or Traps. I like the ideas of Sonic, but it lacks a heal for my pets.
Demons have strong AoE, and consistant survivibility. They posess some slows and heals, but they're resistance based really. They debuff resistance, increasing kill speed. They Don't rate quite as High as thugs and bots for me, because Enforcers and A-bots are Hax. Never the less, Demons are powerful and mesh together very well.
That being said, I'm still a Necro through and through.
As for secondaries, Traps is powerful and in my opinion fits the MM pace very well. A Bots/Traps will put out more -Regen than any other powerset combination out there. The FFG will stack with the Probot bubbles, and the acid mortar is love however it makes things run almost the moment you drop it.
Dark is a dirty, dirty little girl that you will never get tired of loving all night long. It has tohit debuffs, damage debuffs, mez, -resist, heals, and regen debuffs. The only thing that could be considered a minus to dark, is that the Pet (Dark Servant AkA Fluffy) Doesn't have the same 100% uptime at base that the defender version has. However, the pet can be made permanant with enough recharge.
Sonic is a fun set, but definitly worse than other options in performance.
And I don't know too much about Pain or thermal, but I don't believe they're at the Traps or dark level of ZOMG! -
You're damn right the MMs are the black sheep, because we're the king kong kamehameha badasses. We're the ones Scrappers aspire to be, Brutes whine to their mom's about, and tanks say "yeah, they're the redside version of me!", even though they know we're not.
For iTrials, the basics I follow are this:
1. Take your time. I'm not good at speeding with an MM, but I could solo a crate/container with +1 level shift. Push to the thing you want to kill, killing the enemies along the way, then kill it. Even if you only get one, there's 8 people on your team. You'll more than make up for it against the AVs.
2. Everything needs to avoid the patches. Keep an eye open, and use you're GoTo/Passive, then defensive. Keep pets out of patches.
3. This is league content. Yes, with 3 level shifts I can engage An AV on my own and usually wait for the team to follow. However this is stuff that requires multiple teams. Leverage the buffs to keep your pets alive against these killer enemies.
4. An extension of 3. Keep pets close. In iTrials, your pets are even level while in supremacy range. This is a huge boost, that will often be the difference in keeping them alive.
5. Know what powers your pets have, and what upgrade gives which powers. In TPN it's Grave Knights with two upgrades, and Zombies with none for Necromicus. That's completely single target. I set them to Passive and pick their targets, and it won't be my pets that take out a camera or civilian. -
As a minor QoL change, add a Purple triangle display to the target section of the UI. One triange above the rank, and one above the level.
That way its easier to see triangles up or down when AVs are overblown with FX, drowning in teamates/NPCs, or just not giant enough to have easily visible triangles.

My main Villain is a Necro/Dark Mastermind. Together he and his dimensional counterparts make up the identity Necromicus, and maintain a mystic book by the same name that has all the knowledge they've gained. (And going by what I've seen with i22 the book will probably be Necromicus' Well) Their only goal is to know more about the Physical and Mystical processes of death. They are murderers who kill to see how the various methods effect the process.
Just about anyone would be a viable victim, as they also wants to see how life experiences effect death.
They are aware they'll never finish, but obsession won't let them stop. Despite this obsession, in a rare moment of respect, they refused to bring back the Statesman allowing him the rest he deserves. An astonishing move from individuals who would kill children to see if it was a different process than killing adults. -
Considering Synapse still speaks about Melee pets vs Ranged pets and the "Increased danger" Melee pets face, i'm going to guess that the AI isn't intentional.
However, since we're MMs and about the toughest things in the game I'm also going to guess our problem isn't at the top of the to-do list. -
I'm interested to see what happens with the PvP IOs. There are a few still selling for the 10-20million price range, I wonder if they'll have the same shift. With more Midrange and junk drops, and a few huge ticket items, I don't know.
I wonder how many converter's it'll take to hit a Panacea or defense/resist global on average. -
I'm really not a fan of the set. The bonuses won't beat a set of Blood mandate, and yay the unique proc is another defense aura. Not to mention the wonkyness with having recharge as a heavy aspect of a MM set.
Switch the Damage bonus (set) to accuracy, At least one resist bonus to a positional defense, and the the enhancement aspect of the proc to Endurance instead of recharge.
I'd also would have liked something more Unique for the Proc, like resistance to BG mode damage or something.
But ah well, We're Masterminds. We're hardcore badass SoBs who drink the tears of AVs and bathe in the blood of GMs. I won't loose sleep over it. -
Quote:I have to repectfully disagree to this one. I see this as more an attempt ingrain a character into the game world. The same for being a family member, but I do see it as a fine line. My litmus test is: If I removed the canon elements, and replaced them with my own creations, would the character's personality and feel change? Characters that are the all-important son of Recluse and Fusionette don't pass, because that's what the character is. The characters are so important to the story, or would be to any story that you could conceive, the story would be overshadowed by that single line. There are exceptions to everything, but that's what I use to keep myself in check....or even a close friend of an game NPC; not even dead ones. This is godmodding of the worst kind. Just don't do it. Many RPers will just walk away from you at best, or vilify you at worst.
For example, my Traps/DP defender Trueshooter was a good friend of Hero 1. A previously amoral individual was changed by the stalwart beacon of true justice. When Trueshooter tried to voulenteer for Omega team, Hero 1 refused and asked him to carry out a different task instead. Trueshooter obliged, but remains guilty for not being alongside his friend durring the ill-fated offensive. I could replace Hero 1 with any hero I could think of, in fact it used to be William Valence before I decided to ingrain my characters into the game world itself.
Both William Valence and Moonshatter know Statesman and Sister Psyche from WWII, with Moonshatter not being the biggest fan of Statesman. This acquaintanceship pushed them into limited contact with the rest of the Phalanx and to a lesser extent the Vindicators.
In a possible violation of my own rule, William Valence was a good friend of Atlas and was there the day Atlas fell to the Nazi's leaving on Atlas' orders to go get help as the logistics of the battle nullified much of Will's power.
Doctor Euphoric was "recruited" by an impressed Tyrant when his drug cartel was discovered and defeated by the extra-dimensional Cole. (Though I think Praetorians get a bit more leeway in this subject)
It's a fine line, and I'm positive I've been on the wrong side of it a few times, but I do think there is a place for this. I can't see it being utterly taboo. Though, I'll agree that there has to be extreme reasons to RP an established character, but the only ones I can think of are just cameo type things for events. -
Decided to read this thread on a whim to see if there was anything interesting or important, I was not disapointed. BrandX I'm loving that new Avatar, seriously that's some cool ****

Now, I have yet to try them so I could be wrong, but it seems like there's a new power tech that rolled out with the Valentines day event. The Arrows. From their description they do one thing to friends, and another effect to foes.
So in a late night, diet coke induced stupor, I considered what it would take for me to roll a PB. This is what I got.
1. ALL YOU PBs NEED TO SHUT YOUR PSI HOLE!!!! Ha Get it. Really, shut the Psi hole on Light form. From all I can tell, Warshades get top survivibility and damage at the cost of having to scale by enemies. Peacebringers seem to have always been about high level survival (though not always implemented well to that effect) that remains constant and with a much lower level of available damage.
2. (This is the inspired part) Split the defense debuff in half and add that much resistance debuff (it would be -4.5% defense and resist or -9% defense and resist) Now, make it so that the power can be used on allys for a minor heal, defense buff, and resistance buff. This effect would cap at a certain number of stacks, and be constant through the powers.
Now buffs would be modified to have effects when used on foes. Reform essence and Glowing touch could be moderate/large Regen debuffs, while the Essence boost powers could be HP debuffs similar to degenerative interface. If that wouldn't be allowable, a resistance debuff would be mechanically the same without the potential oopsie moments if too much debuff became available to the players.
3. Make photon seekers more useful. Give them the Carrion creeper effect. When they expire, they summon a pseudopet. Any enemies that die in the Pseudopet causes another Photon Seeker to be summoned. Each one would create the Pseudopet, and each pet would summon for a death in range.
As for making forms more useful, Let inner light be useable while in nova and lightform available for use when in Dwarf. Make Dwarf form Increase the players HPcap when used, in a similar way to Afterburner, and make Nova form do the same for Damage. Also, if they don't already, make the essense boosts cary over between forms. A human form would be HP capped at the current level, and in Dwarf form, there'd be much more HP available.
Add to that the standard remove shifting animation times, and Sashes and I thinks they'd be just about perfect. -
Quote:Yup, now that you say it I'm feeling a little silly for not thinking of it.Off the top of my head, Council Marksmen and Rikti Drones are perfectly happy shooting you from across the room, and do not prefer to be in melee range like the rest of their buddies do. There are lots of others, but those are the first that come to mind. I think Rularuu Wisps actually run away if you get in melee range, but I haven't fought them much in a long time, so I might be misremembering that.
Thanks -
Quote:This is interesting, which enemies "Stand off"? I'd like very much to play with them, and see how they act. Is this in AE?Sometimes, yes, sometimes no. There are critters that "stand off" from the player and clearly even if they have no attacks they will not rush the player. But some player pets do the opposite: even if they have ranged attacks available they will rush the target, even though they have no melee attacks for which that might be a theoretical advantage.
-
Quote:And this would be part of the attack decision, yes?The critters still think about range in terms of deciding whether to get into an optimal range for certain attacks, but they no longer try to *predict* what the best move will be in advance. You could say they are aware of range but have no memory of range.
Theory; critter is put into a Decision state, and needs to attack, move, or wait? There's no viable wait decision anymore as waiting seemed to be a permutation of the attack decision (wait to attack with an unavailable power instead of deciding to attack with a new power) and they don't try to predict action anymore so they would't know to wait.
Then, getting to the attack decision. They would once again use melee attacks in turn, without any method to consider if it was a desirable option to. This would have them consider range in forcing them to move into melee range to use the power.
If they have no attack powers available, my theory is they are forced into a move action, with no real ability to choose to wait, deciding to move closer to the target for some reason. Really until this thread I would have sworn the AI had them check to see if there is an action available, if not move closer, if yes execute. At whatever frequency or triggers it is they did checks.
I've yet to discover what causes a decision state, but durring runs on the dummy to see what the pets do with regard to ranged vs Melee, attacks seemed to have a very high "Priority", if that's a good way to put it. -
Quote:Sort of what I meant, but I didn't say it well. If they don't consider range, the Attack, move, wait decision is skewed from it's original Implementation. Now, critters that have melee attacks will use them; pushing them into melee, while critters that don't have melee attacks suffer from a seemingly conditionless move choice (when either attacks are unavailable, and there seems to be no wait condition) once they find themselves unable to attack. It wasn't fixed by having nothing fight at range, it was fixed by having the critters not dwell on range for any period of time. They should no longer care if a power will eventually become available at a given range.
Meaning, in a somewhat roundabout way that the fix meant no more range.
Am I missing something that makes that not accurate?
As for the recharge part, ah well. It'd be nice to see a grave knight cycle headsplitter perpetually but ah well -
Quote:Here's the thing, you're misunderstanding her and looking quite silly in the process. A flow chart of the progression of this conversation:I am definitely not misunderstanding her. And I can guess as what reason she has for lying and why others are supporting her, but then I'm not allowed to say why because of certain reasons I can't mention.
Durakken: Show me a non-obvious solution to a bug so I can say it's obvious
Arcana: That's silly do you think I'm naive enough to think you'd tell the truth? TPN seems to have such a bug, fix it
Durakken: Well I can't be bothered to find a non obvious bug and fix it, do you think I'm naive enough to think you'd agree it was non obvious
Arcana: Fine Pets skipped certain attacks, it was especially bad for MMs Sometimes they'd stand around and do nothing. After testing we found out a major part of the bug was recharge
Durakken: Sounds like an obvious enough example, (somehow) not the first thing you'd think of, but you'd pick it out instantly
Arcana: How is that obvious, what would you test? Because recharge wasn't the bug, range was. A problem with range, that screwed up Pet AI, was mitigated by making them immune to recharge
Durakken: Liar, how can I say it's obvious if you only give me the fix and not the bug
Arcana: As a followup, AI considered both range and recharge. If they had too much recharge, they'd wait for certain attacks to come back up, because they knew they'd be up before being able to use the ignored attack. It took tons of testing to determine the range component of the bug (Probably where she learned how to make recluse stand in awe and do nothing in the pressence of her math!)
Durakken: Well that's obvious
Spectators:
Also, the whole I18 ignore range thing is making me nervious about pet AI. As a secondary and threadjack, if it was range that was the problem and now that's fixed (by having nothing fight at range) can we give pet's recharge again without killing all existance? -

It's gotten kinda bad when people see bots, stop, and assume it's paired with traps.
The thing you need to be careful of, on a time especially, is you have power boost on with your toggles on mids.
Before farsight, your 42.5% S/L defense, 40.8% E defense, and the rest is 26% or higher. With a vannila farsight, you add 14.87%. With a PBed Farsight, add 21%. PBed farsight puts you to iSoftcap on S/L/E and standard softcap to everything else.
EDIT: And I almost forgot, I don't know if mids adds the Probot bubbles. If it doesn't you could add those on top of what I just said. -
Quote:One of the first things I did when I logged in from my break was check all the long term market stuff I set up, and was happy to see that the sleep purples I had for sale sold for 17-20mil and I bought and crafted them for less than 2mil.A hundred sleep recipes for one million each in the last month? That's ... interesting.
Edit: hmm, that now seems improbable. When precisely did you buy all those purple sleeps?
Looking at where they are now, I'm QQing on the inside.
