Quote:Stone is more hard control as where Ice is more soft control. Neither are really known for damage, so soloing is slow before level 32. Both are solid builds. I actually got the name Shutdown on a couple of the smaller servers just because I think that's what Ice/rad really does. It pretty much debuffs anything useful your target would want. In the words of one of my CoH friends when we decided to make a themed SG and I wanted to roll an Ice/rad, "Making an Ice/rad is like cheating." Earth/rad will equally be awesome. It will be a /Rad Controller. I'm still not sure about the Primary. I don't wanna run Fire control twice. Plant has nice Powers but i don't like the look. So it will be a Stone/Rad or Ice/Rad. I'm not sure which of them suits my needs best. Maybe some1 who has experience with both Sets can help me.
If you want solo capability, Ill/rad is the top pick. With light IO slotting due to self funding the build, my level 37 Ill/rad can solo +4 missions. Yes, there are deaths, but as long I'm smart about it, the death count is reasonable to me all things considered. Also note I use a couple vet attacks to help with damage output. Mind/rad and Grav/rad are also good picks. -

Quote:The best cheap entry level IOs worth selling are level 50 uncommon set IOs. After that, figure out which ones are valued by players and work on those since there is a market for them. I have it figured out to where I should by the end of next week be cranking out over 200 mil pure margin per week and that's 20-40 minutes on the market with one character. I rarely if ever check the market forum as well. I just did out of curiosity to see if there was the thread about the devastation quad price being funny some time ago, maybe even 2 years ago. I PMed the guy talking about it because that IO typically goes for 4mil. I was selling them in stacks of 10 for 10 mil. each Fun times. So I've been told. I'm trying that now, but I'm just not getting it. I don't know if I'm picking bad recipes to craft and flip, but so far I've got a lot of crafted enhancements just languishing in the inventory. I've been doing this with a level 41 blaster for three levels now, and that's probably my mistake.

Quote:If you are new, then it's a no brainer. Ranged recipes can, however, be used by controllers.well it's a ranged recipe set and I don't have any blasters that could use it. I'm fairly new to the game and only have a 50 grav/dom... really squishy! and 50 ss/wp... NOT squishy at all! I think I might just end up crafting it and sellin it! I don't plan on collecting any other ones soon... Thanks for the advice!

It can't be that different to solo than my Earth/storm. Yes, before level 32 it sucks to solo unless specifically built for it. After that, it comes it's own and solos fine enough for me and I didn't drop anything more than common IOs into the build.

Quote:Considering on my Stone/wp I open with Fault, I'm willing to bet that's not really going to be that big of a factor.DB/ is better on Scrappers and /DA is better on Scrappers because you don't have to worry about negating your fury generators with OG and CoF.
And while DB is better on scrappers, you get better defensive numbers from /dark on a brute. -
I also like the mashup version with Rehab.
Link. The mp3 might be out there as well. I got it a couple of years ago. -
AE works the same, but there are mission specific for either side. For farming, you want x8 with no bosses on what whatever +x you can handle. If you do want a Fire/kin on red side, then go for it. I would be tempted just to make either of your other Fire/controllers a farmer and work the market as well since they are already level 50. I personally would pick one of your characters to be the market worker. Have other characters e-mail the market worker what influ. you feel comfortable giving and then have the market worker start playing with as much high end market stuff that you can find. I typically feed off of people being lazy so I grab enhancements, craft them, and them sell them for profit. Once I get to where I can crank out a stack of 10 at a time, I just skim the profit off the top and give it to other characters.
EDIT: Red side has many more EBs/AVs. -
And it can hit, but not heal if the target in question dies before the heal aspect goes off.

I do believe the real issue is if can Blizzard pull off all of it's ticks. If it can't, then other things win out.

I have Air Sup. and Fly on my Stone/wp brute. Some things just don't stand a chance against him because they have a hard enough time standing at all. I use Fly on a number of characters, but my preferred travel power is SJ.

Let's make an superhero MMO where the players can't remake their own version of one of the most iconic superhero scrappers, or brutes. Don't go into marketing. Ever.

I haven't played around with the difficulty setting with my Bots/traps, but x8 seems rather doable. Just note there are some things in the game that will wreck havoc on a MM, so doing it at x8 might be much in those specific cases. Outside of that, cake walk. I haven't even started to IO out either at 34. I'm in need of switching over because a number of my enhancements are level 25 common IOs.
Blasters can be doable depending on how much ranged def you could get out of the build. -
+1. The short version of the term Offender. It's a term that's used in response to "healers" that vastly focuses on their primary at the expense of their secondary. It's about being more of a balanced defender than anything really. Also see the Repeat Offenders network of SGs that have even specialized SGs(Kins only, Stomies only, etc...).

Token Stone/wp suggestion. One of the few brute builds that has really stuck with me.

Quote:Not auto hit, but just not widely seen before tohit values. I really won't put too much into deciding about stuff considering how much Praetoria/end game content and the Incarnate system will change things. I just can't imagine the devs doing a simple buff to mobs tohit and giving something like a /sr scrapper/brute no counter. Not to disagree, but just a note to keep in mind: It seemed like in praetoria there were quite a few abilities that were auto-hit, which would bypass a defensive set. If the devs have this in mind for new content, could be a strike against one trick ponies like maxed defense sets (down the road, maybe, lol)

Quote:Even outside of Praet. I was on two levels 50s. One being my namesake and thus a Kin/elec and one a scrapper, see sig. The scrapper got no tells for teams. The defender got three.I haven't seen that many Defenders OR Corrs on Freedom or virtue. To be honest we need more support out there...to many times on teams have we had nothing but dmg type AT's with no type of support what-so-ever. Yeah, sometimes we get 1 on a team but still that's just sad. My Pain Corr and Dark Defender gets a lot of invites!

Quote:I don't even need the forthcoming respec. I have respecs to burn as a 5 year vet. I'm not ever sure if the build in question has done any of the respec trials. I was thinking of putting the i19 build in the alt build slot so that way I just finish it off when i19 comes and then switch. You could build it now and just respec with the free one we'll definitely be getting when Fitness goes inherent. (there is absolutely no way they would make a change that will affect 100% of the characters in the game without giving out a freespec)
The only thing you would have to buy new IOs for would be whatever 3 powers you pick up in place of Fitness. If you have a decent build already you'll probably be reusing the rest of the IOs anyway.
I'm still working on my Claws/Regen's S/L defense build, even though i19 is still a ways off, because I'm quite sure that the only thing that is going to change is my ability to get Combat Jumping and Super Jump back (I dropped them in favor of other powers, using Ninja Run to get around). And that will still leave me with a power pick...I might pick up Revive again just so I don't have to hit the hospital if I drop without a wakie or enough stuff to make one. It needs no slots and it's basically going to be a free pick, so why not? -
Quote:Yeah, dinged 41 tonight and I'm just mostly taking token powers to a degree and waiting for i19 before I really worry about an official build. I just don't want to drop "x" amount of influ for it to be changed around within a couple of months.I think you're right, but I think it would take either skipping Fitness (or I19) or significantly overslotting all your defenses. I think it's much better to just spend a few million on a Steadfast Protection, even if that's your only IO. We could then say that you're better off getting a Gaussian set and so on, but the cash and complexity starts mounting quickly. It's just a matter of how far down the slippery slope you want to slide, and I think it's worth taking at least that one, initial step.

Too early, but there seems to be a nice mix so far. If something is on the lower side for being played it's tanks and defenders, but those were the lesser played ATs before anyway. I would even say there is still a decent number of defenders, but defenders numbers drop off more compared to other ATs as you get higher in levels. Right now I have been vastly playing in Praetoria so I'm restricted to 1-20.
