I think they were fairly correct, just not in the way they made their argument. "You have to read the book" should only apply to minor stuff. When you leave things like important plot details or character development in the source material it makes for poor cinema unless you've read the book. obviously there are time and budget constraints so not everything can be hit, but in general a movie should be fairly self contained and at least somewhat self explanatory so that most people won't be lost when watching. Viewers shouldn't be left asking questions like "Who is that?" or "Why did that happen?" and have the answer be "it was in the book". if you put it in the movie it needs to be there for good reason and needs to be justified, otherwise it's poor story telling.
There's a difference between "you understand things -better-" with the source material and "you -need- to read it to understand it". It's ok if you can appreciate it more for a fuller experience having read it, but it shouldn't be -required-, the movie shouldn't be lacking if you haven't read it. That was their point, but they didn't argue it very well. -
Yeah screw the 4 leg rig. Give us a no leg rig.
Mini-hamidon vanity pet! -
Quote:Vanity pets can be used by any character. Power sets can only be used by creating an entirely new toon.My main problem was vanity pets were released on top of each other but not powers. :|
And it's pretty much just Paragon playing catch up with the competition. I mean just go check out schmeverkwist zwei and see how much vanity junk they have. Junk for houses, junk for pets, junk for clothes (which btw are waaaay pricier than anything paragon offers).
Really, you have to have a lot of respect for Zwillinger. Anyone that has to deal with children day to day and not murder them has the patience of a saint. -
Quote:The timeline is pretty fuzzy. There's stuff that's come before (like the Faultline events -> Now with penny) and there's stuff that's -right now- (Galaxy).I didn't think Statesman and Sister Psy. were going to get replaced (in the TFs). Because in a time line they are still alive...*shrugs* could be wrong.
By all indications, the Devs are treating States (and presumably Psyche's death) as -right now-, so everything matches up to -right now-, even though 95% of the game predates these events. It's the same with Galaxy. Even though Galaxy being destroyed is the newest thing, everything that predates it that references it references it as if its been destroyed (or simply does not refer to it anymore).
Although, i don't get where the thinking that there's only 1 more trial in Praetoria comes from. it's a possibility? but doubtful. -

I'm sorry, the liger pet is god awful ugly. I think it belongs with the april fool jokes >>
Also, lions with manes? ok, color me slightly disappointed we didn't get -1- male lion with Beast Mastery. Oh well.
Yeah just another week I don't have to spend points. Which is great since I blew my stipend on Beast Mastery -
Well they've implied there will be higher level praet content and the story is nearing towards wrapping up now that most of the major Praetorians have been taken down. I'm thinking there'll be at least 1 more praetorian zone like we had First Ward.
Really I'd -loooove- a Devouring Earth infested area. I mean First Ward had some of it, the giant stone tentacles, the fallen seed with the blooming mushrooms, etc. I'd like to see an area that's totally corrupted and converted.
We -do- know that a lot of the issue will be overhauling everything that involved Statesman and Sister Psyche. First and foremost in my mind that means yet another revamp of the Maria Jenkins arc. And whoever will be the placeholders for the Statesman and Sister Psyche Task Forces. -
Actually its all part of an effort to phase out PvP altogether and the zones will be revamped to become normal hazard zones with their own story arcs. Bloody bay will be updated into a new 10-20 zone branching off from Atlas park's arcs involving the Shivan invasion and Warburg will be turned into a new 30-40 zone as a new lower level introduction to Malta as it battles it out with the returned Rogue Arachnos.

I'm fine with both. Not everything should be about the PC. We're already Mary Sues that can do anything, get out of any jam, loved by all, we're 'the chosen one' etc. It can be nice when done right like Dark Astoria, but at the same time it doesn't always move the plot forward properly. Even with DA we had non-PC related stuff with the personal story arcs.
I'm 100% fine with them developing the Signature characters. I mean, they're the Signature Characters. As much as we're awesome, it's cool to be playing around, beside, and against characters we actually care about. They're just not interesting if they're just cardboard cutouts. I want to play in a Superhero -world-, so its nice to have plots going on around me that don't just star 'me me me'. -
I'd guess within a week or two honestly. Doesn't seem like there's going to be a 22.5. If it isn't just down for the weekend.

One of the ideas the devs tossed around which seem spretty feasible is just making it so you can trade them in for one as an account item on a one for one basis.
That is, you'd go to say Astral Christie and give her a catalyst and poof, you'd have 1 sitting in your 'account items' e-mail box. -
Yeah I've had it happen a fair amount too. It seems like any time I come to DA via Base Portal (pops you out at the Bulwark) or 'teleport to contact' via Ouroboros (Heather) the glyphs won't load. In fact it seems like the extraneous NPCs in the spot don't load either, whenever I teleport to Heather it's just her by herself.
I'm thinking its a bug. -
It is kind of curious how he was able to summon aspects like Rudalak yet is unaware of the info Faathim has. Then again Rudalak is pretty insane so he probably wanted to subsume Wade.

I still love Hami-Os as the only source in the game where I can get mez boost + damage in 1 enhancement. Seriously, all this time in the game, there's no single IO set that boosts both atrributes. What's up with that? Sooo many control powers have damage baked in, yet -all- mezz sets (EVEN THE ATOS!) don't enhance damage. So weird.

Quote:Villains can never win and co-op doesn't make sense if it's villainous. Those are just the facts of life.Considering the problem of villains being typecast as replacement heroes in essentially all co-op content, cheekily making fun of that does make me into a bad of rainbows and unicorns. When a player points to a systemic flaw in a game and makes fun of it, it's funny because it's true. When a developer points to a systemic flaw in a game and makes fun of it, it's frustrating because he's part of the team that introduced the problem in the first place.

I giggled.

Quote:Actually that stuff was added when I22 went live. Not 100% sure where it was spawned from, I don't think anything else has said there's a level above Incarnate. Maybe Diabolique? Dunno.Talk to Prometheus after completing the arc and choose:
- I have earned the right to know more about the Well.
- Care to explain to me why you never told me I could ascend to become a "Well", Prometheus?
Mini rant: Also lots of the blue jack*** pushing you around. Seriuosly Dev's, the thing I hated about playing red side was the way NPC's talked down to you like you were dirt and threatened you and here we are, godlike incarnates and there's an NPC that talks down to us like we're dirt and threatens us. It isn't fun and it isn't good storytelling. I'm at the point I don't even want to read the storyline you've put a lot of time and effort into writing if you have an NPC like this tell it.
As for the other point: The story doesn't assume you're an incarnate because it's for the 40-50 range, so (even tho most won't) lowbie heroes can still run it, so it can't assume you're an incarnate, unlike Dark Astoria which is 50+ only. So you're 'famous' but not necessarily 'godly' -
Yes. Now that have to roll new toon, run 2 DFBs, buy converters, pick up enhancements emailed from other toon, convert them, email them back, delete new toon, repeat.

Quote:Lying or not, it's not really a chance many would be willing to take. Rularuu taking control would be very very bad. Like Earth vaporized bad.
Now to play devil's advocate: How bad would it have been if Wade hadn't been stopped? He did all this because he wanted power and knowledge, but he didn't seem to have any plans for ruling the world with that power, at least none that he mentioned. What if he really could keep Rularuu under control? The only information suggesting he couldn't was what Faathim said, but we don't know enough about him to know if he would lie or not.
And during the fight he pretty much says that the problem with the world is super powered people and they need to be wiped out. So, pretty sure he had no benevolent intentions. -
Quote:Which doesn't even make sense since he's a huge magic user, which is an -extremely- common hero type. Like, I get where they were trying to go with it? But it made no sense since he's clearly a magic origin villain. Honestly Malaise was way more compelling in the whole "normal talents are overlooked because of superpowers" thing. He seemed to have quite the inferiority complex when it came to super powers, so I think it was less a convienence thing and more of a "these are two of the most powerful and well known super powered beings on the planet, killing them will SHOW THEM ALL!!!" sort of thing.
Ahh, fair enough. Which still just illustrates a problem with the SSAs: One side got all the explanations, the other didn't. I don't really wanna make this a "redside got all the cookies" thing, but... really? 7 episodes and we can't trade it up at all? There wasn't a single episode where Heroside got more of the story. -
So, Statesman gets his death spoiled, it happens, he gets a big funeral piece, commentary from the designers, etc.
Next episode, mums the word from anyone. Psyche bites it. Nothing. oh and Penelope Yin makes mention of her. Everyone else says nothing or talks about Statesman.
May as well just be a footnote in the game. ;p
