1 more reason not to play on defiant
[/ QUOTE ]so this must mean that us on Defiant like the Challenge of Harder/differcult Set-up like petless MM, Tank/Brute without the Rez powers, and many more At like that, and you don't like a challenge
So Defiant is the Challenging Server and Onion is the Easy life I.E power leveling and everytoon playing each At set the right way "City of Clones"
[/ QUOTE ]
how is a petless MM challanging ... its stupid... Would you cut off your legs to have more of a challange to get around..?
I am on union and dont PL
I am on union and have never followed any guide to playing an AT
I am on union and have never created a toon that is already a FoTM
but if i were to play on defiant and joined a team with a ASless stalker a Petless MM i would know its a team thats about to die (nothing wrong with a brute not having Rez powers if you mean ressurect if you mean resistance... then they need to think about getting a new game) -
[ QUOTE ]
Stalkers aren't exactly what I'd consider fast levellers. Nowhere near the speed of a brute. Some MMs are pretty quick to level too (my bots/dark took less than a week to 33)
[/ QUOTE ]
i'd disagree my stalker was the quickest total time to 50 my MM was longest with brute second .. but i think my dom will beat even my stalker (now if i can just get a corr past 10 i will be fine!!) -
i never really thought i would like playing doms ... especially due to there minimal damage but i stuck with mine which is Ice/psi and now .. omg i out damage Corrs and brutes on teams thus is the amazingness of doms AoE attacks (you know the one i mean *wink*) i love it so much i am thinking of rolling a few more
but i tottally agree with eddy on this Psi is the weakest at the start but by 50 and IOset slotting your not gunna be beaten by many PvE mobs (took my first balista EB today was well chuffed :P level 39) -

Find a very dirty sirface, spray Dettol Anti-Bacterial Surface Cleaner on your hands and place on dirty surface. This will then create two 'clean' handprints...
[/ QUOTE ]
no it wouldent because your not removing the dirt you just making your hands wet and putting them on a dirty serface... as soon as you touch it you will become dirty -
wait ... how do you get clean handprints... handprints are the outcome of bieng dirty... surely

I am saying my opinion about the stuff i have seen í didnt say a word about the powers not shown in the video.
[/ QUOTE ]
"In my opinion a brandnew powerset should at least have 70% new unique animations or looks."
Have we seen most of the new powersets? No.
[/ QUOTE ]
The are no brand new powersets. there are existing powersets, previously only available to NPCs, that have now been adapted for use by PCs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, Shields will be totally new
[/ QUOTE ]
Won't shields be used by the romans that appear in Issue 12? So when it gets to the players it won't be new
[/ QUOTE ]
They'll still be a very new kind of old

shields are already in teh game! galaxy ascendant -

Thermo-nuclear weapons, giant cybernetic limbs, psychic powers combined with martial arts, a variety of grenades, lethal darts, great big frigging maces, distinct uniforms, army of killer robots...
..versus...
...the ability to change into a lobster or squid.
While the latter is very cool, I'll stick with the former. The prestige and OMG factor of the VEATs is enough for me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Omg i am only saying that i wished there would have been at least some new colours to the blood widow powers, i never said the VEATs suck to play.
The spider powers are new and shiny no doubt.
Its just having a 50 mind/psi dom and a emp/psi defender and mind/rad troller, claws scrapper, making a new char using the same looking powers all over again makes widows less appealing.
Btw 2 disruptor bots are far away from beeing an army of bots, and the disruptor bots are far away beeing killers at least the patron versions :-)
And if they are on same recharge as the patron which i fear judging from the post saying : emergency power, they will be pretty much skippable.
[/ QUOTE ]
from a PvE PoV i dont think they are skipable the moves we saw them using are quiet powerful (well atleast in RV)
so yea you have used up your tollerance for mind/psi so playing a fortuana may not be as apealing to you... but what about us that have never touched it? none of my 50s have mind/psi in so i think i'll be happy (along with alot of others) infact the only one that has been done for me is mace tank so yea i prob wont do bane spider but crab spider R mine -

I can think of plenty of reasons another player would reach such a build.
[/ QUOTE ]
Go on then, list them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can think of a couple... a pure solo toon (boring as hell, but to each their own) couldn't make that much use of end-draining aoe's, but high damage energy attacks, on the other hand...
And then of course there's the age-old "concept character" reason. Absolutely no GAME reason to choose those powers, but that doesn't mean there isn't another reason.
[/ QUOTE ]
also the fact that EA has a stealth which if building a good char may make you think (incorrectly) that AoEing will nulify your Stealth- this particular reason i have come accross a few times
does attacking from stealth raise your threat level? ( ie stealth is -threat level 1 does it go back up ) -

So because of one person doing something for a Laugh that means I best not play on Defiant.. Keep your comments like that to yourself thank you.

laugh? this would pretty much cripple the char
this is along the same lines as petless MM and only having healing aura on an empath
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, that's up to them, no-one's forcing you to team with them. No need to badmouth the whole server for it - I'm sure Onion has its fair share of loonies too
[/ QUOTE ]
oooow ok yea.. i dint actually mean to insult the whole server... sorry to all who were offended.
what i meant is.. i already dont play on defiant and that comment dont make me wanna play on there anymore (no doubt to the relif of some) -

well buffed brute does better than a stalker?? but what about a well buffed stalker?
[/ QUOTE ]
A buffed brute is far superior to a buffed stalker. The much higher damage and resistance caps ensure that. Plus, the brute can support the team by holding aggro, and has more aoe attacks.
[/ QUOTE ]
yea they can take more damage ..but i am not sure on this damage thing... according to mids no brute comes near (not even EM) to EM stalker for Dp/s (Edit infact elec melee comes close... but still only close)
i am not just saying it because i have a EM stalker.. i also have a SS brute and i know what foot stomp is capable of but were as my brute foot stomps and ppl are still alive my stalker will 1 shot alot more (infact really only KO blow 1 shots ... hurl does but thats really quiet slow)
yes a brute can take the damage for longer thus can kill for longer but were talking about stalkers on TEAMS placating and one shotting all over the place stalkers can kill more effectivly than brutes and thus need to servive less
tho i have been made very aware of the face my build EM/Nin is an exception to the rule i am currently in the process of making a new stalker to see what its like
[/ QUOTE ]
Tbh it sounds like the brutes you've teamed with/play as are just not very good, especially if you think you can out-kill them (and anything else) in pve. Go watch a ss or elec/fire or a fire/psy dom tbh. I mean yes, EM stalkers have great ST damage and are good boss killers but a good SS takes a bit longer to kill a boss but at the same time kills the whole of the rest of the group. 1 kill vs as many as there are depending on team size. I have an elec/fire brute and an em/wp and I would never farm with the latter lol.
[/ QUOTE ]
Its quiet true i dont team with brutes very often they suffer from what i like to call PB syndrome (i R brute therefore I R gr8)
i have got an Ice/psi dom so i do know what psi is capable of (tho without the fire imps damage output, i really hate FoTM builds)
tbh i never considered any other ATs when i said that but i would still give any AT a run for there money (when my ET recharges in less than 8 seconds its gunna be hard for anyone really)
i think the same an go to you as what you said to me... perhaps you just havent seen that stalker that has wowed you yet... -

thugs are THE most annoying... atleast when you get the second upgrade.. my bruiser thinks he is a blaster...
[/ QUOTE ]
Does your arsonist think he is a brute? Mine does
Castle could easily fix this, add the arsonist... or even better, the fully upgraded medic from mercenaries AI to the bruiser and add the bruiser's AI to the medic.
All pets would work as intended.
[/ QUOTE ]
the problem is arsonist is AoE and much shorter range than others adding that to MM pets already higher threat rating and you have a recipe for disaster... i dont have any problems with my other 50 MM ninja the tier 2 pets love melee give him that AI -
[ QUOTE ]
*Sigh*
A mass of AoE isn't going todo jack squat to the Gunslinger boss thats owning the team with its over kill acc, or the sapper who just drained your aggro holder and now the corrs are under threat because they have been stunned to hell and back Examples above and many others we have all seen and done - the game isn't 'just' AoE = win and theres times when another AT pulls the team out of the fire when the brute has died in seconds. The Stalker isn't often that one because he wasn't invited to begin with. I believe that simply reducing the time it takes to regain Hide status from 10 seconds to 5 is enough to ramp up the damage without it being potentially imbalanced in PvE.Aside from Footstomp and KO Blow, I personally feel the brute is overrated for damage dealing in large teams, particulary if its loaded with other brutes stealing fury from each other.
Fighting AV's is a game wide problem for me and I wish it were more than simply 'spam hold & debuffs' at it but thats another topic
Edit: Essentially if Im on a team with a decent brute (rare on both accounts) then he's helping to keep me alive but I'm also keeping him upright by taking out whatever his set is weakest to. If theres no brute (rare) and its corr heavy then I'm aiming for the mezzers first and taking it from there. I'm _supporting_ the front line fighters like a dominator does with its secondary along with the corrs primary. It matters not that I'm doing 30 damage to 8 critters every ten seconds imho more that I'm taking out that critter than can kill you inside 10 seconds

couldent have said it better myself :PP -

Kinda going over old ground and away from the original point but not really a surprise.
Stalkers are shunned because their initial flaws still havn't been fixed - a placate thats not 100% reliable; an inherient that isn't good; powersets that near cripple player choice to ensure 'typical' PvE ability; player choices for PvP that drive down their value even further in PvE teams. Not to leave out a great deal of players playing Stalkers still to this day think its all about the AS and struggle todo more.
I believe each AT can be played in a variety of ways, the Stalker included and while the Dominator isn't the shunned AT it once was, the Stalker is because its received one rather underwhelming buff to Hide and its flaws and bugs still need addressed. Once thats done, hopefully the Stalker will be welcomed more often by more people.
In the mean time, I'll continue to play my favourite PvE AT and look forward to my fifth level fifty Stalker
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixing those bugs wont help much. AVs aside, in Big team PvE this game is all about AoEs which are mathematically far far superior to STs.
Stalkers have the least amount of AoE powers of practically any AT out there.
[/ QUOTE ]
/disagree
IMO its about kills/Pm
i agree MOST if not all others (naa not all ...doms AoE is poor) do this best with AoE but the recharge and amount of damage given out by stalkers ST is better than all others. And seems ST suffer less penalties (AoE modifiers and acc) ST are much more reliable -
[ QUOTE ]
Aside from the tier 9 and the fact there's a snipe (why??), this set looks pretty good to me. You have those 3 great melee powers, one of the better damage cones in the game and Build Up, which is a most welcome buff power for Doms.
It should make a decent secondary for any melee-minded Dom.
[/ QUOTE ]
lol 2 points
i like snipe in my dom (mainly solo) when everyone is held/mezzed/or anyother state of incompacitation(ed :S) its a very good damage dealer... and seems i am solo i dont mind about slowing down
in teams its good to pull with then hold them away from mob
a none melee minded dom :P thats one dom i would never play...ranged attacks (apart from afore mentioned) are weak for doms -
[ QUOTE ]
It's a bit silly that an /ice or /energy dom would be better at draining endurance than an /elec, due to Power Boost and Power Sink (Mu Mastery). A little bit of end drain is no mitigation at all, and it completely useless, it's very much an all or nothing tactic, and this set to me seems to be very much in the 'nothing' category.
A shame because I sorta wanted a Plant/Elec dom for mez madness... alas.
[/ QUOTE ]
after all the moaning about this set i have read on the US boards (specifically about voltaic sentinal WHICH I LOVE) this is the only thing i actually agree with... if you cant drain ALL the end eventually then end drain is kinda null... tho if they still do that writhing in agony thing its better than a kick in the teeth -
[ QUOTE ]
Does domination effect powers in other sets than the Control primary? As in if with Domination active would it double the magnitude of the patron power Electric Shackles?
[/ QUOTE ]
yes
It will help all powers that has a mez effect wether its KB or stun on your secondary or an immob in your PPp (which incidently none of the Dominator PPp's have)
it also increase damage to all attacks tho alot more for melee attacks -

I had similar experiences when I played a stalker for a bit, it was not as much I felt people shunned me but rather that I felt like the teams were doing me a favour by letting me tag along. (or that I'm just filler to get bigger spawns)
And thats kinda what I felt like I was doing tagging along.
AS is awesome and all, but even so I always just felt like a fragile, weak brute in bigger teams.
Which is too bad because I really like the concept of the stalker!
[/ QUOTE ]
alot of the times stalkers do just that hang back... my stalker is up front one shotting left right and center... only seen that kinda damage on full fury brutes... and rage

well ive teamed with many stalkers. the only time i wont like one in the team would be say MORSF otherwise i dont mind them at all

[ QUOTE ]
Ok, I guess we better spell it out:
1) For a stalker to do respectable damage, they have to be hidden. In order to be hidden they have to be not hit. In order to be not hit they need defense.
2) Stalkers have low hp and a low resistance cap. So even at the cap, your hp bar will fall much more rapidly than a scrapper, brute or tanker. In addition to a slow falling bar being generally better, it gives them more time to regenerate and/or self heal. However, with def, you can, for a time and without bad luck, keep your health bar full by not being hit.
3) With low hp you regnerate more slowly, so it becomes more important to have a +max hp ability, or at least a self heal.
Conclusion: Ninjitsu has lots of +def, and a self heal. This makes it by far the best stalker defensive set. Electric Armour has no +def, no +max hp, no self heal. This makes it by far the worst stalker set.
As for end recovery, well, you will run out of hp long before you will run out of endurance!
And sapping as a defense? This only works if you can zero the mobs endurance and keep it there, since most mob attacks have a very low endurance cost, and the AI does not try to conserve end when it is low. Powersink on it's own cannot zero any mobs endurance. Electric Brutes can just about manage it by supplementing power sink with a constant barrage of end draining attacks and Lightning Field. Stalkers will not get Ligntning Field, and they do not attack in a continous barrage. As such, Power Sink is useless to stalkers as a defensive power.
[/ QUOTE ]
ok i completly missed the fact that you were talking about the resistance of the set for stalkers and not the set itself (like EnA for brutes ppl moan about that but my EnA brute pwns)
in that case i can see your point but as we dont know the numbers we cant comment (whats DA and WP like for stalkers?)
it might be stalkers get higher resistances (...might) but personally i would much rather test it out than listen to all the doom here too many ppl moan about too much stuff that does not need to be moan about.
and really you dont need to be so condescending
