Quote:The best use of Statesman in a long time was killing him off?I dunno, have you run the arc? Statesman's death was sad, and probably the best use of him in a long time. It helps put into perspective just how long he's been a hero.
Honestly, it was only sad in the fact that the devs threw him away like a chump. He didn't fight anything. He just gave up. He walked into the world's most obvious trap, lured into a smoldering crater in an exotic location by a man with no ability to actually fight Statesman. He didn't even show up at all previously in the arc, so there's no chance to actually establish any sort of emotional connection.
It'd be like if the Death of Superman didn't have Superman in it at all except for the last page. And instead of Doomsday killing him, it's Toyman. -

I'd buy one if it didn't have the advertising on the back. I dig the basic star/Arachnos logo on the front, but I just don't like shirts with stuff on the back. And I'm def not a fan of walking around with a blatant product name on me, either.

Quote:The AT was only a part. The story would've involved an actual aftermath to the Rikti war storyline (something we never got), having Traditionalists integrating into human society instead of chilling out in Vanguard HQ, while also revamping a dead zone into one with life. It would've also answered questions and fleshed out Rikti society and history more while continuing Hero One's path to regaining control and becoming a hero once more. Crey could've had more presence, as well, since it is Crey's Folly being revamped. They might have tried spearheading the reconstruction efforts while trying to get in tight with Vanguard or the government.I almost certainly enjoyed the Praetorian War story more than I would a Rikti-inspired archetype.
And no, that's not meant to be damning with faint praise. While the Praetorian War wore on a bit longer than I might have liked, I had no major issues with it as a concept for them to dwell on for an extended period.
Instead we got the goatee universe transformed into a not-so-goatee universe, time spent focusing on alternate reality versions of Primal characters while the Primal characters themselves are neglected, stories that had nothing to do with Primal Earth or even the important people in Praetoria (First/Night Ward), and in the end there was hardly even a genuine resolution as Praetoria was completely destroyed and the Hamidon won, making everything that was worked on pointless.
Plus Prae never even gave us an epic AT, anyway, which was a very hot topic many people asked for.
I'm not saying the Prae story wasn't enjoyable at parts, but I genuinely think they could've done way more with that Post Rikti War story, instead. -

Quote:This.Thank you very much for this. I would have really looked forward to the Crey content, I always thought that they were under-used. But ...
Seriously? Four whole issues of Battalion, and what was going to follow them was yet another, even more powerful, invasion of Earth? You guys really were stuck in the Lensman rut, weren't you?
Seriously. Last thing we would've needed after two years of Praetoria would be two years of Battalion, followed by two years of Dimensionless, followed by two years of Frieza, followed by two years of Cell. -
Quote:tbh I tried really hard to answer questions we knew the answers to already, while cleaning the list of repeat questions (every other question was "What was the Batallion", not kidding). We all kind of assumed someone else would spearhead things more and I don't think they did. So I hope we do a Part 2 as I think there's still a lot of major questions that weren't asked in the google doc and some of us can be more proactive in making sure the questions get asked (And.. seriously, let's cut the 'joke questions' plz? We're getting enough jokey answers already )
Also, definitely agree with your last part. Felt like as they went through the questions Matt just kind of gave up on effort. -
Already been asked by me. Zwill's response was that it'd only open the forums up to more griefers and the few mods they have left would have to work that much harder to police posts.
I don't agree with their reason at all, especially if they post in Announcements so that more and more people can't get involved, but that's their stance. -
I up voted, but just as a warning Reddit is filled with ***-hats. Like, not as bad as 4Chan but they can be pretty bad. So expect a lot of grief and douchebaggery.

Calm down.

Most of it's pretty stupid, IMO, and I'm kind of glad we won't be seeing that stuff.
But hearing they did want to customize VEATs, didn't actually hate PvP or bases, and the stuff about Crey was pretty cool. -

Quote:The entire studio's already been disassembled and scattered. I'm not saying anyone should be fired, 'cause they're all are already gone. And it's highly doubtful they'd all come back at this point, since some probs already have new jobs. So if Paragon Studios ends up finding a new publisher and can spring back and reform, that'd be the perfect time to make a better team. Jus sayin'.Okay now, look: We're on the brinks of losing this game altogether, and things aren't looking too hot for ANY sort of CoH to be up and running after November 30th, if we even make it that far. Quit the nitpickin' there, buddy, and just hope we have *something, anything.*
Quote:For all that you look in disdain at the DA arcs and their alleged 'grindy-ness' it is a thousand percent better than what people who's hardware cannot handle the trial based method of end game stuffz had before.
That said, what I quoted above is the equivalent of saying "I'm starving and all I have to eat is poop. Therefore, poop is is a five star, gourmet meal." It's not. It's still poop, and the solo Incarnate path is still way more grindy and punishing than it ever needed to be. The devs being shocked that we wanted a solo path was ridiculous in and of itself. Then coming right out and saying that they wanted people to run the iTrials instead, so they were going to make the solo path as minimally rewarding as they possibly could was just awful. That's a horrible mindset to have towards your players, especially when a good majority of this game's content is so solo-friendly, and some of it solo-mandatory.
To put it in perspective, I ran one and a half DA story arcs, which took me around two, maybe three hours, and got about 10-15% iXP on my first two iPowers. Immediately afterward I hopped on an Underground Trial, which takes roughly an hour or two on a casual league, and that one trial gave me the remaining 90% iXP I was missing.
That's not fair, and if Paragon Studios reformed that's not the kind of thing I'd want to see being passed as "Okay". -

Quote:We can't pay for it. NCSoft cut that service, not Paragon Studios. And good luck changing their mind on the matter. It's good to know, and I might look into it. But I still don't think going on to Beta should be required for accessing this content.
I mean, let us pay for it, or give us access to it. Don't cut off our access completely.
Zwillinger isn't going to unlock everything because, as he stated, it would damage the game's economy and create a massive mess. If the game is saved, there'll be a lot to clean up. It'd also be a lot of work on their part, if they even have access to the tools to do so, to go through the market and flag only certain items as free.
Beta, however, is the exact solution you're asking for. It has all the things you said you want, with none of the problems listed above. It even has new stuff we won't see on the live servers. So bury whatever problem you have with Beta, hop over there, and gorge yourself on free content. -
I'm not sure about the Incarnate Content, but Beta server is open to all, VIP or not. You can also buy anything in the store for free; costumes, powers, IOs, etc.

Quote:Honestly, if Paragon Studios did reform, I wouldn't mind seeing two or three specific people replaced instead of coming back onto this game. Not gonna name names here but the person who managed our end game and made DA so punishingly grind-tacular can go, and a certain member of the writing team can take a year or two break to practice his skills.Although I see your point, the key figure is Matt Miller. We got to keep in mind, team changes have happened in the past, as long as the Matt manages to stick around, the core vision may stay. Obviously i would love for Arbiter Hawk, Synapse and Dr Aeon to stay, though!
Everyone else, though, particularly folks like Dink and Synapse, are amazing and I'd love to see come back. -
