  1. So a few things here:
    • Please refrain from posting accusations of exploitation. If you believe someone is exploiting, go through the normal channels and file an appeal regarding it.
    • As some players pointed out, there was a bug just after the release of i20 which could cause players to, through no fault of their own, end up in other players missions/instanced maps. Now this issue has since been corrected (very shortly after i20) but in the meantime there were some players (not just the one referenced) who were able to get badges they weren't normally able to, without malicious intent. In summary, we're aware of the issue and are weighing our options on how to best proceed.

    In this case, we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

    At the time we originally announced the go live date for GSA, everything was progressing on time and we were on target to hit the date. If we did not give the players enough of a heads up, they would be unprepared and surprised by this development. Also, consider we were going up against the Royal Wedding (something we could not consider in our development schedule), which while completely separate, demanded a lot of attention from players in the EU.

    Unfortunately an unanticipated issue demanded that we push the date. In this case, we would much rather give our Community an overabundance of information and look bad in pushing the date back than to not give our players enough forewarning.

    It wasn't about the badge for me. To me, the issue was trying to do an event on one server when there's already a queue involved. With the ability to switch characters without getting off of the server, you'd have less people being able to log in than there used to be, especially in a three hour window.
    We don't anticipate the queue being an issue as we will be cranking it way up for this event. That's the purpose of the event, and the entire reason we created this badge, is to get as many people as possible onto one server with the improvements as possible.

    We'll have more updates later on today.
  5. We have been discussing your concerns since we came into the office this morning. It's likely that we will not have an official decision or update for everyone until later this afternoon, Pacific time.

  6. I moved the thread back to our staging area.

    Because the details of the awarding of the badge are likely to change by tomorrow at some point, it's better to just reset the conversation after we've had a chance internally to discuss the options.

  7. As an update: We are currently working on a fix for this issue, sadly however I cannot give an ETA for implementation on live servers short of "Soon™".

    Bingo bango, although we've had some suggestions about possibly recording the audio portion and hosting it elsewhere. Not sure how compelling listening to audio of me bumbling along would be.

  11. To reiterate what Avatea said, we've been in regular communication with the Web Dev team trying to sort out the issues affecting the forums. We consider these operational affecting problems and as such are giving them the proper amount of consideration.

    Thanks to everyone for being patient with issues such as the slow load times and random log outs. As these forums are a part of our day to day work, we understand that these particular problems can be very frustrating.
  12. Servers will be down for maintenance tomorrow (Avatea should be posting something soon if she hasn't already), but not extended like we had originally planned for the GSA.

    For those asking about conflicts with Trial global handle names: All trials global handles will be renamed to "Trial-[RANDOM STRING] once the global auth merge has completed.

    The reactivation week will be postponed (we're working on sending an update out to all players and will be making posts on the main page, forums, Facebook and Twitter) until we're ready to pull the trigger on Global Server Access.

    Of course as I'm writing this, Avatea is probably posting everything I just said .

    This is an accurate statement. We actually have a fix in the works, the timing of implementation was something that we considered at risk enough that we are rescheduling it.
  14. We are continuing to look into reports and experiences of performance issues within the Trials, BAF specifically.

    We'll keep you updated if and when we have new information.

  16. Due to difficulties encountered during the testing process we are postponing the launch of Global Server Access. At this time we do not have an ETA for launch. We will keep everyone notified of any updates as they develop.

We considered allowing for the reactivation before the actual date of the Global auth merge, but realistically it doesn't make it any easier because we're issuing the Global renames during the downtime (it requires downtime to issue them). We decided that this is the most straightforward approach as it's utilizing already scheduled downtime rather than adding additional.
