  1. OP, why don't you just slot KB enhancements in some of the other sets to get this kind of feel?
  2. It also depends on what you think you need. If you think you need to shore up some holes in your build, Incarnate abilities can be used for that. If you want to be more powerful at what you already do, they can be used for that, too.

It's WAAAAYYYYY to broad of a question to answer. What you're asking for is akin to asking what the best powersets for each AT are. There are too many different answers.
  3. It is within their usual maintenance period right now, and possibly I20.5 is going up today, so I'd say that the servers are likely down.

Please refer to: old /SS, old Stone Melee, old /Axe, and old /Mace. All of these used to contain several knockback attacks. The players hated them. Yes, not everyone would have to play a new set, but I doubt that the Devs are going to give us something they had to remove from previous sets.

Dual Blade's combo system doesn't get broken by activating another power from another set. I would imagine this would be the same.
  6. How would the set look when you use it against small creatures like clockwork, versus a Giant Monster? How would it work against things like Swarms?

How would it work at all with the collision engine that we have?

In short, a set like this (basically grappling), is very tough to do with the engine that we have. We can't really grab an enemy, since they occupy different space in the game. So, our characters could make a grab maneuver, but we'd never actually grab the enemy. Also, the same animation would play when used against a tiny clockwork robot (we'd "grab" empty air), and a Kronos Titan (we'd "grab" an ankle).

The devs have made it quite clear that they have no plans on running the name purge any time soon.

Bolded, underlined, and colored by me for emphasis
Ahhh...good to know that the Devs are going to run the script again soon.
  8. I will only be using the VIP server to create new characters on, since all names will be free on it until people start populating it. I won't be moving any characters to it, and haven't seen many people saying that they will move all of their characters there.

I think there is little worry that new players won't have any Vets around.
  9. If I've got no endurance issues, Leadership is the pool I usually go with. Assault is great with just an EndRed in it. Sure it's not a huge boost in damage, but it affects everyone in range, so it can help. And everyone loves a bit more Defense.
  10. I just did the mission you're talking about on a Stalker, and yes, the mobs do seem to port in early, and there's a room full of enemies just waiting for you.

Still, pulling at times can be beneficial. This is one of them. It might be just as easy, and just about as time consuming, but it works in cases like these. A good Tanker knows when pulling is the better option.

    Oh, and welcome back!
  11. 1) While we're not sure exactly how this will work quite yet, from what I've read, it seems like new characters will get a choice between starting in Galaxy City and Praetoria.

    2) The devs don't leave this script on all of the time. They have run it in the past, sure, but that didn't free up many names, from what we've been told. Basically, right now, players could be "hoarding" names, but that hasn't been much of a problem for me. As such, I don't see them changing anything for when Freedom gets here.

    1 Tanker only

Having more than one Tanker isn't bad, especially if they can alternate spawns and gather the enemies up nice and tight.

However, Tankers don't stack as well as some other ATs. Defenders, Controllers, Corruptors, and Masterminds have sets that make them force multipliers. The buff/debuffs sets can often stack together, too. However, Tankers don't have a lot of buffs and debuffs. Even Bruising doesn't stack from multiple Tankers. This makes having more than one on a slower-moving team fairly redundant, since the spawns aren't large enough to justify the additional aggro control.

Do I agree with this? No. I think that multiple Tankers can help in certain circumstances, and it's still more damage that doesn't need much support. However, I can somewhat understand where they're coming from.
  13. Yeah, if you're a Tanker, surrounded by 17 enemies, all attacking you, you'd get locked into a guarding animation, unable to perform an attack animation.
  14. Isn't the first one the Mother of Mercy hospital?

First Ward is Cole's first attempt at creating a Utopia. It failed, and he left it behind for all of the magical beings to control if they wanted to, basically. Since then, it's been (more than slightly) overrun by the Hamidon, but also contains a few last bastions of Cole's empire, such as the Mother of Mercy hospital.
  16. 12 open slots, just like any other server. With the option to purchase more.

Well, Jab is very different from some of the other Tier 1s. Faster recharge, but lower damage. Other sets have decent Tier 1s, or at least need them for complete attack chains.

    VIP server

Agreed. I'll be using the VIP server to make some new characters, but that's about it.
  19. Also, why did you think that you would? Trial accounts by definition should be new players, or very old players trying it out before returning. But those tend to be groups that you don't want testing new content (which is what those servers are for) because they don't know enough about the game to know the difference between what's working and what isn't, for the most part.

Also, allowing Trials to access features that are still in testing is a great way for information to leak.

Basically, I don't think it's reasonable to assume that trials would have access to those servers at all, and I'm kind of curious as to why you though you would have access to them.

Mastery over time is achieved when "telling time" becomes "telling time what to do".
And honestly, we don't even know if that ability is in the set.

    Thermal radiation for defenders.

    Could be done tomorrow.
/Poison would need some significant work to work for Corruptors/Defenders. Actually, it just needs some work in general. But at the very least, it would need a new/reworked Tier 9.

So, no matter how much the model succeeds at "giving people what they pay for", if it doesn't also succeed at showing these free people positive and enticing experiences, then it will have failed at it's purpose of attracting new money-bearing people.

You seem more concerned with what is "fair" than with what will actually perform a useful function for the business.
What you think will perform a useful function for the business I think would drive away all of the existing players. And that's definitely not a good business model.

Our Devs have learned from this community, and what they've seen from the successful F2P models of DDO and LotRO. I think that they've got a decent handle on what they need to do to find a balance between the free players and the VIPs.

Virtually every MMO in existence provides a superior solo experience for low level character even if it abandons that the higher you get. Even back as far as EQ, the low level solo experience was viable and enjoyable, even though it totally disappeared for most characters between levels 6 and 10. If we're looking at levels 1-10, the solo experience in this game is not exceptional in any way compared to most other MMOs. To claim otherwise is a case of looking at the game through rose-colored glasses.
Maybe the low level solo experience isn't great compared to other MMOs, but it's not that bad. And certainly, even solo, the level 1-10 experience goes by very quickly. And the level 12-50 experience is great. Whereas in other games I've tried, it's the reverse, where the level 1-10 or so experience is great solo, and then very quickly trails off. And I much prefer the former.

Even then, it's not nearly as bad as it once was for new players. I'd say that levels 10-12 are the worst offenders in the game right now, but with inherent fitness, the early levels are much easier. I almost never run out of endurance now, and by selling every drop I get from level 1-12, I have more than enough to outfit myself in DOs at level 12.
