  1. Hmm, time for something a bit more exotic, I think.

    Krakow.

Not often used, but oh so effective (I hope, crossing my fingers).

    My Arcane Base:

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, so here are several rooms. I would be happy to give you a tour if you want, just PM me here or in game @AdAstra.
  3. Base Raiding (and the restrictions on base building due to raid pathing issues) was removed in Issue 13, IIRC.

That was a part of the PvP revamp that is on-going. It will likely be back sooner or later, but the Devs have not given details as to when that might be.

So it seems that there may be a future use for defensive items.

I am finding my Sonic/Energy a lot of fun (her name is Pam Demonium, what a coincidence, eh?). Sonic gets an AoE Sleep relatively quickly, which aids soloing.

Fire/Ice is also good. Lay down an Ice Patch, back up to let them chase you, add Rain of Fire - much hilarity ensues.

Actually all my blasters are fun, just some need a bit more strategery than others.

Nope - It just makes it easier for me to read. I hate the font on the new forums.

Nice job reading something into a post that wasn't there.

I guess it was my mistake to open your thread and post - something that hasn't been done by others, I see.
  8. Hurray! Looks like I can make it after all.

If there is a spot on a team (I *really* like playing on Team 1, but it looks like it may be full) - bringing Isotope 167 (rad/dark, level 45), but Maurya (eng/elec/elec, level 50) is available if blasting is needed!
  9. I'm not sure if I can make the first one, but I will try - bringing Isotope 167, most likely, but may be it will be Maurya.

    How to Fix AE

Why did this need yet *ANOTHER* thread?

There are at least another dozen on this very topic ("fixing AE" or "AE is horribly broken") in this forum, Issue 15 (still can't figure out why they are there since AE was new in Issue 14 and therefore it's not an Issue 15 issue), City Life and probably everywhere else.

Please add to an existing thread next time, m'kay?

Anti_Proton - I still don't see the point of switching the Primary & Secondary. Are you suggesting changing the numbers to make the Defender switched "primary that used to be a Secondary" match Corruptor or Blaster(?) numbers?

I can choose to emphasize either my Primary or Secondary now by using my second build. The solo build uses more blasts from the secondary and ignores the teaming powers like Heal Other & CM.

I think the Devs' answer to the issue of difficult soloing by some powersets was to add the Second Build feature (more than adding the Vet Powers as suggested by Lothic, though she? has a point). I think by using a second build, you make soloing a defender much easier, no matter the powerset.

I'm sure somebody could figure out a way to farm that as well, but it would be fairly tedious to arrange in real life thus badges like that would have a certain aura of "legitimacy" to them. Badges that just key off of total time in game would become (as others have pointed out) the prime example of "badges you get for AFK farming".

Actually, it would be easy to farm being "active" since the most likely measure of activity would be a power being fired off - just put your character somewhere and set up something to auto-fire (aura heal, PBAoE, etc. - something that doesn't need a target) all night. You could even auto-run or auto-fly into a wall.

I'm also not in favor of the OP's suggestion because I don't see any value to promoting that kind of behavior and it doesn't really offer any kind of "marker" to distinguish playing ability or anything else.

    What's a "Natural" Blaster?

I don't know if I can make it this week. I will show up in Portal Court if I can and take my chances at getting an open spot, but the hubby is on break between trimesters this weekend, so we go do something like head over to a friend's for a cookout (gasp - the sun!)

    Good luck!
  14. 4, almost 5.

My Villains are on Triumph because that's where I set up the VG.

Liberty was my original home because that's where my husband was playing at the time (before he got sucked into WoW).

Guardian -not sure how that happened exactly, but still there.

Infinity - when my sister & I decided to set up the SG, we settled on Infinity, and I've been happy there ever since, especially once I discovered the Saturday Taxibot TFs.

I also have a small presence on Victory with another SG I inherited, and characters on every server except Freedom.

So, since we already have one, can I ammend the suggestion to: Fix the 'go to first unread post' button?

QFT to both of these. Very irritating. I first noticed it late yesterday, but it may have been going on for longer than that.

The extent of my planning is "dang, my fire/rad REALLY burns endurance....I wonder what sets will give me +rec?" On the Goat I went for +damage, just because it sounded fun. On my kat/regen I went for regen, even though defense would have made more sense from the 'powergamer' perspective.

If it's thematic and it sounds fun, I'll do it. The 'numbers' don't usually factor into my decision making.
    This is me as well.

Although if I do have a numbers question - my sister plays the game about 10 feet away from me and she is really a number-crunching kinda gal a lot of the time - so I can just ask her if my general impression is supported by the numbers.
  18. Given that the last several issues have included either new sets or tweaks to existing sets - not to mention the tweaks to entire ATs (blaster, stalker, dominator) - I would think that *of course* that's on the Dev's radar.

Although my teachers always said "There's no such thing as a stupid question" I almost want to say that this is a silly question - but maybe there is a subcontext we don't know about here.

As Cat asked - what are you looking for specifically?
  19. OK -here's a few.

    2 of my Elf Girls:

My spell-slinging Being of Pure Magick, Nerys

    Elven Warrior, RainbowBryte

And a Norse Warrior I made for the theme "They Were Soldiers"

    Haakon Ullrson
  20. The Paragon Arcanum is a pretty mystic base, though not exactly demonic. Here's a slideshow (from when we were in the Scoop) - see if any of the rooms work for you.

You may also want to check EnnVee's archives from her Scoop articles for others who missed your thread.

    Afew rooms:

The images were lightened a bit for the purpose of the slideshow, but can be adjusted darker if you want them done that way.

A blaster should stay at range, while a tanker/scrapper should stay in melee range. My Dual Sword scrapper can`t throw one of his swords like you see in cheap movies, never seen a tanker throw his axe either.
Those 2 punches Energy blasters get have poor animations too, and one has knockback, one has ... damage. Wheres the energy manipulation in that ? The first one might say that uses some kinetic energy transfer for the knockback and thats about it.
    http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Energy_Manipulation
5 melee power that have absolutely NOTHING to do with energy manipulation. Maybe with inner energy or some chi stuff.
Why not a pbaoe knockdown or knockback ? Why not a toggle power that has 3 balls of energy spinning around you (simulating an atom and electrons) that explode in melee range ?
What i`m trying to say is that outside AIM, Build Up and Conserve energy, that set has nothing else useful. Fun,maybe ... not useful. And if you don`t believe me look withing the blaster guides see what other people say.
Please link me to these blaster guides which diss the use of any of the melee attacks in the Energy Manipulation secondary. I'm gonna say you have been selective in your choice of guides, because there are many out there that do not support your point that Blasters need to stay at range.

If your Blaster is staying at range, yer doin' it wrong. Enemies don't always let you do that and you need a better survival strategy than "run away!", like smack it back out of your face. Not using the melee attacks in your secondary means gimping yourself unnecessarily and limiting your use on a team.

First of all, I think that I am capable of making a difference between 2 graphic engines. Second of all .... if you`re trying to be ironic or sarcastic by making ridiculous and unnecessary remarks about what I mentioned as a reference its really annoying and stupid.
Now, if I remember correctly it has been announced that we`ll get better dancing and proper "cylinder collision" when it comes to standing emotes.
Was just re stating it along with the weapon cleaning emotes. And why wouldn`t we get those ? Are they tooooooo complicated to make ? Oh no .... they developed a whole mmorpg and .... this is the impossible step.

BASICALLY the power customization and the latest Positron interview has just showed that anything is possible to be implemented in this game. It all a matter of importance, need, timing and priority.
Its as you said, stuff gets in the game when lots of players say " WE WANT IT NOW " They`re not going to mobilize a whole developing team just cause i say we should have weapon cleaning emotes. THATS the reason for this forum section, suggest an idea and see how many people like it and say WE WANT IT NOW.

    Rrrrriiiiight.....
And it seems like a silly use of their time, based on Zek's point that the weapons are many different sizes and one emote would not work for all of them. Suggest away, but don't be hurt if someone comes along and says that they think it would not be a good use of development time.
  22. I also would not like to see it replaced. I rarely log out at the base - frankly, I don't need the prestige bump and some of the other Day Job perks are better for most of the 60+ alts I'm running.

Logging out at the Base Portal is a choice you have made, but others have chosen differently.

I frequently use my Base Porter Vet Power to go to my base to hit my Workshop to craft stuff or stash drops in my vault (during a long TF like Quaterfield, for example) when I'm not going to take the time to hit the CH immediately. Also good for quickly hitting the base for stored Insps.
