I think the streak breaker kicks in before 11. This reminds me of a person I teamed with last night who kept complaining about missing and then admitted they hadn't slotted for acc even though they could have slotted DOs by then. If KM had accuracy issues, it would have been caught much earlier.

Quote:DA is very much a "If you are willing to invest in it" set. I have a DA/stone tank as well and it's definitely being looked at as being something I'm willing to break open the bank to see what it can really do. Even at 32 with SOs, I can see the potential of it. And yes, I'm switching to IOs before I level further.I had a claws\dark brute for awhile that got to the mid-20's. Didn't make the cut for me, but there was nothing technically wrong with it..I've even regretted the delete, but it as nice having death shroud to widdle some health off guys and then firing spin to finish them off (or the other way around), that plus dark regeneration and claws lower endurance cost really worked well...Even makes me want to give it another shot as I talk about it. For me, the only problem with dark armor is that dark regeneration is prohibitive to use unless you have the theft of essence proc in it, which on my dark\dark brute changed the whole game around.

Quote:What 2 AoE toogles? I only know of Lightning Field and if you aren't taking the damage aura then I would roll something else. Yes, I saw you went /wp, but was just curious what you meant.See I would roll a Kat/wp but I already have one :P
I guess I'm gonna go with claws/elec
power choices:
claws: everything but the first power and confront
elec: I have no idea on claws I need some help.... I'm guessing to not take the 2 aoe toggle
thanks!
Edit: I've decide to switch elec out for wp. -
Quote:How does the damage compare between Brutes and Scrappers when it comes to claws, anyways?
I think somewhere it was mentioned for scrappers it's more ST based and brutes it's more AoE based. I got my Claws/dark to 20 so it's too early too tell. Spin is so good on either build it kind of makes it hard to determine who it works out for early on. -
BS/regen likely from a max/min standpoint might win out. IOs can give /regen enough def to make things easier on the build and Parry will be a huge boost for /regen as well.
Claws/elec benefits from having FU fuel the damage aura. It will be much faster in feel compared to BS. Even IOed out, /elec likely isn't going to be near top of the pack in terms of performance.
If it's me, I go Claws/elec, but that's based on how I play. BS is just too slow for me and I already have a /regen at 50 so I know the pros and cons of it. I don't foresee me rolling another until I see what IOs do to my Claws/regen. -
Quote:Well, Ice/rad is a huge debuffer. You can switch Shiver instead of AA, not use RI as much due to the animation time, but in the end there's still a ton of debuffs and some toggles. It is what it is. It would be...difficult to make a Ice/rad into something it really isn't and expect fun to come out of it.Most builds I have seen are full of toggles, debuffing. I'm not sure I want to be a huge debuffer.
There's a ton of play styles across the player base. If you don't like one, then it's ok. Just go play something else. Me, I prefer debuffs vs. buffing in general. -

Being in melee also vastly depends on the blast set. A D3 is going to be at range to use the AoEs. With perma hasten, you can spam those rather well. Can you be in melee due to the safety a D3 brings? Yep. You just aren't going to be living there and maxing out your damage. Something like a /elec, or /rad will benefit more from S/L def.

He was hell on my Claws/regen even after using the lava to help cut into his regen. Trust me, when he keeps summoning another of his decoys after three attacks it's not even remotely fun to try and solo him. I've soloed pretty much all of the later game EBs and he was likely the most annoying. Did I do it? Yep. Do I want to do it again any time soon? Oh hell no.

I think I have it down to where I can pick a fav combo for any AT, so I could limit myself to just those. Too bad it took playing 40+ characters to figure that out. If CoH 2 was made, I would make a lot less characters. I really don't role alts in other games either. I simply make a character, and get them maxed out as much as possible.
-
On the cheap, Claws/sr. If you are willing to invest in it, Claws/dark. I do believe that Spin for brutes is better than it is on scrappers, and it's really rather good on scrappers.

KM/sd. I like how the debuffs/buffs stack. /sd gives KM more AoE which is nice. Rather ST based for KM, but if you solo a lot then that's ok. I made a brute version of this, but it's too low to say much about it. I will say normally I skip the lowest damaging attack on scrappers, but KM tends to force you to take it since you don't get a 3rd ST attack until much later. You can respec out of the first attack later once the build has matured.
Fire/sd. Even if you just for FSC, it's a lot better of an AoE. You have to find out how annoying the DoT is to deal with. Sometimes it's better to switch targets after hitting them just to let the DoT take effect. It's end heavier. Fire will be less resisted which is a bonus. -
Ill was the one that I paused on posting just because it does rather well in it's ST and AoEish damage. Anything else is too ST based for my taste to be called "tons of damage." Note, I wouldn't consider a MA/sr as really going a ton of damage either. A high amount, or even a respectable amount, but not really a ton.
-
For any defender really, I would look at capping if possible ranged def for no other reason that's where most of the mezzes are going to be coming from. A D3 won't need to cap it, but any additional ranged def will help.

I figured clearly Super Strength would be the strongest power set.

Quote:Outside of Fire and Plant controllers, I don't see controllers doing tons of damage unless you have a much different standard. Even with /storm, Earth is rather low in terms of damage. It took me until epics before I felt like I was doing a rather respectable amount. Why would anyone have issues dealing damage w/ */Storm? Why would controllers as an AT not be looking to do tons of damage? If you're talking early on, sure, but late game? Even my Earth/TA (my least damaging controller by far) does more than his share of AoE mayhem. Now end, that's going to be a serious hassle (until you pick up Cardiac!).

One benefit of /traps is that the traps themselves can draw aggro so there have been times when I was near death and then the mob started to attack the traps instead.
Dark/dark is just a solid combo. You are literally a tanktrollercorr.
Dark/cold. More on the support side, but T.T. + Sleet is a nice combo. Dark adds -tohit to a set that already debuffs the hell out of mobs. Cold is underplayed for how good it is.
Dark/traps and even /ta really. T.T. again mixes well with keeping mobs in the needed debuff area. /traps will be more defensive, /ta will be more offensive with Oil Slick. I'll point out the biggest TA fanboy that I know of ended up playing a TA/dark defender and absolutely loved it so much they basically didn't play anything else. I don't see why Dark/ta couldn't work out rather well. -

My Ice/ice blaster is the first one that I really fell in love with. Breaks from the game and too many alts has it sitting in at 32. Working on getting it slotted up and I'll be able to make a run at 50.

I must have missed out on the day when EvilRyu became a poster we deemed credible. I remember numerous posts pointing out he was on various posters ignore list before the forum change over.
For my better builds, I'm soloing around x3/x4 with using SO enhancements. I can see going higher with a tank because they are suppose to take alpha from x8. -
Quote:They are taking Dark blast, what whey want is to figure out the secondary.A ???/Dark corr can tank the ITF without melee on the team.
A Fire/Dark corr can run at -1 x 6 as soon as you have tarpit and rain of fire - level 6/8 ish.
An Ice/Dark corr can tank most things in the game with all of its slows and debuffs and Blizzard/Tarpit is cheating.
Rain of Arrows and Tarpit?
Sonic + Tarpit?
Radiation + Tarpit? So minus defense and Resistance?
Do you like healing, debuffing, slowing, -to hit, -resistance, fear, pets and the damage buffed by 30%?
Stop by your friendly neighborhood Corruptor shop and take one for a test ride. -

The most glaring issue with Earth/storm is damage and that's not really the point of the AT. It will take time, likely 32+, but you can solo with it and even with SOs mine does fairly well, so ultimately damage wise you hold your own. Team wise, I've made people reroll their Emps after playing with me. I had people figure out I can handle the basic stuff so they intentionally pushed the envelop to just see how much I could handle. It's a lot. KB is handled with the immobilization powers.
