Quote:In the first change, it was much like you describe. IH and Int together had the levels of the old IH. Which was great, because the set really needed more at the lower levels. 4 clicks in a set is just too much though.I used to be opposed to this. I like the twitch nature of Regen as an alternative to most sets. But Instant Healing isn't twitch - it's generally used proactively. So from that standpoint, as far as I'm concerned, it might as well be a toggle. I believe Arcanaville has also stated that if it was turned into a toggle, we wouldn't like how little it healed (and perhaps how much endurance it cost). But I'm starting to think I'd be happy to drastically reduce it's healing to have a little more consistent regeneration performance. Click heals seem fine, but click regeneration? I'd probably be happy with something like a second Integration, just with a slightly higher rate of regeneration to make up for not being your mez protection. Almost certainly never going to happen, but I don't think I'm opposed to it any more.
Really, the old powers team may have never been willing to look at it. I am not so sure about the new one though. Their philosophy has changed quite a bit over the past few years. The reverted Burn is a good example of that change. There may still be hope that Regen will one day be a good set.
Thematically speaking, click regen never made any sense to me. So, I can only heal in short bursts? To be blunt, the changes that were made were too heavy handed, and we can see that same method in everything Jack has had a hand in.
In truth, I will never play the set again unless it changes. I don't mind the clicks any longer, I just find it to be REALLY bad design at this point, and a representation of an era in the game that can R.I.P. as far as I am concerned.
Bottom line, compared to ALL of the other scrapper secondaries Regen sucks. It hurts to say that, and it really makes me sad. -
Quote:I had to go back and see what you were referring to.This is the only part that I didn't really follow you on. 2 of those level shifts only apply in the Incarnate trials, since everything there is level 54, you are still a long ways away from knocking things too far back, and the initial Alpha shift is only available to 45. That and the fact that KM has a KB move too.
Shock wave is painful enough when I am fighting even con mobs, if I am fighting things at -1 even it is even worse. I just hate KB in an irrational way I guess.
You are correct when it comes to where the other two level shifts are applied though. -
Quote:I agree with this to an extent. I would also like to see those places destroyed for a few issues.See, this is what I hate about all the new content we've been getting lately since GR. Skyway is NOT destroyed, I assure you, it's perfectly fine. I just took a flight around there and it's looking just like it always does. Same for Kings and Steel. All places wrecked by this "war" we're apparently in with the Praetorians.
Until such time as we SEE all of this happeing in the world zones, it isn't happening. It's completely ridiculous to go in to a mission, see a large area of a game zone totally wrecked, and then when you come out it's all perfectly fine.
It utterly destroys any kind of immersion or continuity, and tears the 4th wall down whilst mooning the players.
The flip side is that in a world with this kind of power, it would not really take long to rebuild that kind of destruction.
I like the new content, and did pick up on the hints about the well, the coming storm, and Raluruu. -
Quote:"in-set Rez? Regen might have the worst rez on any set that has one."
I have regen's fix.
It has no debuff protection yet? I suggest DEBT protection, that builds as you level, culminating with the self rez power. Put the Self Rez half the recharge as other self rezzes. Debt already means little, to a regen it should mean practically nothing. You are eternal, death is merely a temporary incapacition.
If death meant almost nothing to a regen I'd love playing it, I'd jump in, likely die, buy my teammates some precious time not getting shot, then, knowing my body would heal stand back up and deliver the fight to my newly unsuspecting enemies.
This is what regen needs. This would make it unique and remain thematic without being overpowered.
Regeneration should be the keystone powerset for embodied immortals, for vampires, for werewolves and the classically supernatural beasties. They seem to die, but they keep coming back for more. It's horror mythology incarnate... +wolverine and Prometheus.
Regen's REAL fix is to make IH a toggle as it was in the old days. I would stick it's constant healing at about what /WP's is with 5 mobs in Rttc. This will never happen, as I am convinced the devs really do hate regen.
The initial regen "tweaks" are the reason I started posting on the boards. This is also still a topic the Devs are very touchy about. I have friends who have spoken to Posi about it at cons, they say his eye starts to twitch...ok they didn't put it like that. They did say he said it is fine, and Castle said "Regen is still awesome" to me in several beta tests.
Regen is stuck. If it ever changes I will be so happy I may be moved to tears. -
I have an IOed Claws/Da, and a KM/ElecA. When it can time to choose characters to become Incarnates it was the Km/ElecA hands down. First it is one of the coolest looking combos I have ever played. Mixed with items from the Ninja pack, or the Conical Hat it really gives a god/avatar of storms/thunder Feel to it. I could see it doing the same with /DA though.
In the end for me it was the t9 that made the decision. I detest KB on a scrapper, really I hate it in general. As the claws t9 is KB it has a way of frustrating me, and my teammates who are melee. Adding a level shift (or 3) could only make that worse in my eyes. So, Km it was.
There is also the Energy component to its damage, it is a nice change from what scrappers had for so long. Yes we have fire, and elec now, but KM is somehow...cooler.
For secondaries, Interface REALLY shines with a damage aura, I mean really. When I play my DB/WP scrapper who does not have one I can see massive differences.
All in all, I just have more fun with KM, the spiffy animations, the change in damage type, the cool utility of Siphon, and the nice -dmg secondary effect is great for me. -
Quote:As much as I would love to say go with Regeneration, I simply cannot. Go WP.
As an aside, then, what happened to /Regen? I love the set, but I could really no longer recommend it to anyone, either. What is its biggest draw:
Quick Recovery? WP has that with a resistance to Recovery debuffs, even though it comes later, and everyone gets passive Stamina at 2 on any new roll.
Passive Healing? WP has it beat there, too, and can sustain high levels of regeneration simply by being in a crowd. Regen has to rely on Instant Healing for that, and it is not permanent (although, admittedly, not reliant on outside sources).
Burst Healing? Dark Regeneration and Healing Flames say hello.
Moment of Glory? Too short to hang the whole set on it.
In-set Rez? Regen might have the worst rez on any set that has one.
IO capabilities? Regen might fall furthest behind there unless you have a sword, and even then having a sword with other sets gives you more freedom.
And it hurt to type all that...
The truth contained in this post made me want to cry.
WP really is the better of the two these days. It is everything Jack and Geko nerfed out of regen...fun.
I have 3 /wp characters at 50, and a ton more in the 40s. My first toon and namesake was /regen, and I will never play it again. -
Yeah, I would never skip siphon. The -dmg still works with it off, but what it does do is transfer the -dmg stolen to you.
There are far better powers to skip in KM. I have skipped confront, and the KB cone on all of my builds. -
There really needs to be a skip option like GW uses. If everyone skips, we all get to fight, if one person doesn't we all watch it. I know it would suck to watch the cut scene, only to discover that phase one was over, and phase 2 was half way done.

This does nothing to address what many of us feel is an extremely unfair cost inf cost for the rare and very rare rewards.
I do hope that what you have explained will alter some of the idiotic behavior many of have seen in the past few days. -
Quote:First, it is always good to hear from you Posi. Second, I am glad that you guys heard the outcry of the player base. Your willingness to change things based on player feed back is the best I have ever seen in any game.Hey guys,
Baryonyx has written up a great post addressing several of your concerns, but we only finished finalizing the wording moments ago. We understand how important this is to you so we wanted to make the post as clear as we could in the areas we are talking about. It's now in the hands of Zwill and the OCR department for translating before we post it (and it's not small), unfortunately it won't get up today.
Suffice it to say there are changes coming to give you guys a better reward experience in the next major patch.
I am excited to see what is on the horizon. -
-
I think it is impressive. I also think we will see more things like this as the Incarnate powers are released.
-
No real need for the queue, just let people know you are looking, and the invites com pretty fast. The zones are posted above.

Quote:Perfect answer.in a game where ANY team of 8 makes all content trivial, the the implementation of leagues obsoleted everyone...... with enough of any AT, the use for other AT's is negligible. but this game has never been about the holy trinity of MMO'ing, and any full team will work, therefore the AT's exist strictly for YOUR benefit, as something you want to play, not as a needed asset for someone else. so play what you like, enjoy it, and stop stressing over game mechanics in game where mechanics always came second.

Quote:This is one of the hottest costumes I have ever seen, no lie! Here's my main, spine/DA. I usually make a new costume every few weeks but this is the one I'm currently using.
My first toon and 50 was a spines/regen. I took the set because of how ugly it was, at the time no one else wanted to play spines because it was so ugly. -
That's cool, and I think most of us guessed that was the case. It still would have been great to let us know sooner that 30 min before the servers were brought down.
-
Quote:I can solo them on my main Km/ElecA scrapper, but not so much on the toon I was playing today. It is still frustrating to look at them and wonder where they are going, and what they are thinking.People can also use two acids on the same door when they're throwing them if they're not careful.
Oh and I can agree with you OP, haha. I know the layout for the caches and chambers pretty well, but lord knows getting people to follow me can be like herding cats. That run where we had three grenades only was when people just kept spreading out.
Too bad my brute buddy is sick IRL, we would just duo all of the objectives and let the others sink or swim. :C -
Quote:It would be random then. When I did my master run, we got all 10. I have been on several others that got all 10 also.To be fair, I'm now convinced that there's something buggy about the temp drop assignment because I don't think I've done a single Lambda where we've got all 10 containment units and *not* had to farm at least one acid temp off the courtyard drops to close all 10 portals.
Statistically it's unlikely that every single Lambda I've run has had at least one of the 10/16 players who got the acid drops who's incapable of doing their job properly.
Also to be fair (bit more calm now ) some people just don't know where to look, or what they are looking for. We had a guy today that didn't even know about league chat, so it may be just a matter of time and education. -

If you are on a map, and you don't know the way, and someone else does, why not follow them?
I am sure there will be an overlay for the Lambda map, but till then I memorized the locations of the vats in the training facility. I am sure I am not the only one who has done this. So, rather than typing out this long explanation, I say "Follow me" in team chat. If a person has no clue where else to go, why not follow? If the team leader is following, it may mean it's a good idea. Even a "Why should I follow you?" would work.
Now if you also know the map, and you feel that it will be faster to split, the say so. But why wonder around lost?
I used to run the STF with friends of mine and they would get so frustrated and angry about things in that TF. I always said that the STF takes great people and turns them into Jerks. Well, Lambda is my STF. I love the trial, I think it is massive fun, but people who don't listen during it frustrate me to no end.
We collect 10 acids, and only 8 get used. Why? Same for Grenades. ARGH!!!!!
Today were were on a tight time limit (early server down warning), we thought we had till 3pm. I am thinking, we will be fine, we have plenty of time. I can usually clear the acid map with time to spare to help the other team with grenades. Well, the other team got 3 grenades, and it took my team (who wouldn't follow ANYONE), ok the team lead and I were together, the full time, and bonus time to get 9 acids. And STILL we had to farm 3 more vats in the yard for acids.
I am not uptight about anything else in the game. Dieing is just another badge, we fail we will do it again, but for some reason Lambda really brings out the worst in me. -
Marauder was at 1% when we got kicked from the server.
-
IF it is not too much to ask, could you tell us before you change the down time. We got the 30 min warning while in a Lambda that we never would have started if the original post hadn't said that it started at 3 pm EST.
Marauder was at 1% when were kicked. -
It also stacks up faster and better if you have a damage aura. I think most people take that interface for the DOT as much (if not more than) for the debuff.
I crafted it up to t3 today. I already have Grav t4, but want some variety. -
Quote:I am trying to figure how how that is really any different than deliberate griefing.I don't know why, but the mental picture of a "little sub-group" that is "coordinating with themselves on teamspeak" that fails to listen to the league leaders in a trial and jeopardizes it for the entire league actually makes me even less likely to feel sympathetic than the idea this was deliberate griefing.
