And if you are running under the same account. If you run the game as administrator then turn around and run it as somebody else, it's going to forget a lot of your settings (including where the game is installed).

Quote:Eeewww! That search function was awful! This auto logging out really makes me miss the old forums...and I think I liked the search function better there as well...
Ummm... about bolding the threads with new posts, though... what the heck is going on with it? There are threads here that didn't exist at all last time I logged in but they still aren't marked as new!? -
I'm not sure why that limit is there for the URL. I'm also not sure why it doesn't allow ~ characters, which is why I don't have an Avatar.
But....
We do have signature pictures and you can actually upload those. I wonder what happens if you don't fill up all the space? Well.... I know how to find out! -
This does actually sound familiar. There was a driver problem (on ATI cards?) that caused HUGE contrast so that anything remotely dark was just about black and everything remotely bright was VERY bright. Your drivers are probably up to date, though, so I doubt that's it here.
You say you adjusted your gamma, have you adjusted contrast? Have you changed settings on the drivers or just your monitor itself? I take it this only happens in this game and not on your normal desktop or other full-screen games? Speaking of - do you play in windowed mode or full screen? If full screen, have you tried windowed mode?
P.S. What's with the message icon choice? All the choices are in the same place every time! Where's the fun in that?? -
While that would help the servers, it would be awful harsh on the moderators who have to try and pick out the "important" bits from an old thread and answer the complaints of those who don't agree with their choices. I would say let the mods and Paragon Studios figure out how to balance server load against human load.

I've seen it a few times, too, with my brute. For whatever reason, a minion will go after my pet instead of me. (Though I don't know if that's such a bad thing - that's one less hit on me unless it's an AoE attack.)
But yeah, definitely for the Suggestion forum. -
I'm guessing it's just flat out overloading that PC. A 6200 isn't even a graphics card, it's a little chip that makes your CPU do most of the graphics work. Like Hugginator said, turn down ALL your settings (starting in Safe mode will do that automatically) and slowly turn graphics settings up until the game starts slowing down. Also, make sure nothing else is running while you play. No browser, no instant messaging - just a virus scanner and a firewall to keep safe.
Then start looking for cash to buy a new PC, because that one isn't going to be gaming for very much longer. -
You could try the 190.38 drivers released in late July. They've been great for me. (Just remember to reset your digital vibrance setting after you get them installed.)
-
?? ` isn't an accent, if it was it would go over a character, like è. It's officially called a.... oh! {ahem} Never mind. {blush}
To the point, though, I've heard of other folks having issues with `. And with ~, for that matter. I don't remember anyone finding a solution, but you can try doing a /petition - they keep a LOT better records than we do.
P.S. Colors are working on CoH Helper now, it's just that Kitsune's drivers aren't very old. Less than 6 months old, actually. That's not too bad at all, IMHO.
-
I'm seeing it - but only from about 7 to 9 or so central time on Justice. It's also definitely worse for some than others. I was getting annoying lag but never got logged out. Most folks in our SG weren't having any problems but one guy was getting lagged so bad he couldn't get into missions. When he would try, it would just leave him on the loading screen forever. He would still be on team and 'entering mission' for 5 or 10 minutes!
-
SOMETHING is up on Justice, too - at least for me. It's been fine most of the day but in the mid evening (prime time) the lag gets pretty nasty. Lots of little red spikes and the occasional near-mapserver. I haven't been booted all the way out yet through.
-
Hmmm, so what are these tag thingies at the bottom?
-
Wait, nip is banned? I haven't heard that used in a derogatory sense over here in a few decades! Isn't it a holdover from World War 2 or some such?
Well, the preview let's me say it, let's see what happens when I post.... -
-
You can do it by hand, but easy quote pyramids are DEAD. I'm liking these forums more and more!
-
Well, I've been having the issue for about three weeks. I need to snag that Ping Plotter and see what's going on, because this isn't going away and it's making the game very hard to play.
-
Quote:It's different, people are bound to get upset. You see it all the time. By the way, did you notice how you can hover your mouse over a topic and see text from the post? Now THAT will be handy!!I think it's a bit early to give up on it. It's different and will take time to get used to.
Got the color thing fixed, version 1.1.8 of the CoH Helper is ready. It also flags people who haven't got Vista SP2 yet.
(And I fixed my board text coloring program. Muuuhahaha!) -
I'm all for one less account/password pair. Master account AND game account AND forum account was getting a bit silly. They definitely need security on the username/password set, though!
-
Well, I'm liking the newness! I was able to go back and fix up my old sticky thread in just a few minutes. I thought sure I would need to re-post the whole thing.
So far, the only sad thing for me is setting my avatar. The new software still won't take a ~ in the URL. (Though the software they used for I13 beta let me do it.) Oh well, with signature pics, maybe I don't need it.
So how does the CoH Helper output look?

Hmmm, it uses color= now in the BB code instead of color:. OK, easy enough to fix, and I needed to turn it yellow on folks that haven't got Vista SP2 anyway. -
Well well well, I've fiddled with the security before but I never have seen the Ownership tab! Thanks!
-
Wait, what? Changing ownership of a folder is easy? Since when? What is this about the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit? I thought that was just for checking compatibility before switching your OS??
-
I know having two monitors can confuse this game a bit but I've never heard of that problem. I'm not sure what it even means! Is your task bar set to be extra tall or something?
-
While you're at it, though...

Set Steam so it doesn't run all the time (unless you need it to run CoH?). You might want to to into your registry and keep that Acrobat/ITunes junk from loading every time you boot, too. And what the heck is that Curse thing? -
Oooo! Heck, that could just be a timing thing. Whatever disconnected you is still in effect so you can't log in until it stops. If you quit out of the game and come back, that gives the whatever more time to vanish.
