Grave Accent (`) not working?
Since I moved to a new laptop I've had a problem where the grave accent key (`) wouldn't work in any binds, including ones I'd already setup, as well as trying to bind it in Options (it simply ignores the keypress). I'm on Vista and my keyboard layout is 'US' (so I don't have any deadkeys defined), and it works perfectly fine in every other application I've tried (including opening the console in other games).
Anyone got any suggestions for things I could try? Also, does anyone know a working link to CoH Helper? All the ones I've found just lead to a comcast page that'll never actually open. (plus, what's with the white pixelated boarder on my faces? ) |
Won't even hide it with text.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Oh right, roadrunner and not comcast Still doesn't load for me...Oh well, grabbed it another way

Chances are, the image either uses White or Grey for the transparent color. If the images were .PNG files with true Alpha Transparency, you wouldn't see that, regardless of the BG color.

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
Hmmm. Something appears to have stripped out the color tags that alert us to problem areas easily.
Video drivers are very much out of date. You may want to try out the Omega Drivers here or get the Mobility Modder and the 185.85 drivers and follow the instructions on the Mobility Modder site EXACTLY to modify the drivers to work in your laptop.
Otherwise, I've no idea. I don't use that key for any binds, and unless it's bound by default to something in the game already I wouldn't even think to use it since it's a bit of a stretch for my fingers to easily reach it..

As for the drivers being out of date, I simply haven't bothered to update them yet, mostly because the video is working perfectly fine (I'd be rather shocked if it was related... although I'm probably gonna eventually update if nothing else solves it).
I'm tempted to try remap the ` key to something like F13 to see if I can isolate where exactly the problem is... Also would be a good excuse to brush up on my C# to write a program that catches ` and sends an odd key if CoH is the active window...
IIRC, it's not bound by default. I love using it for my travel powers (on/off, or toggle between the different versions). Basically, every one of my characters over 14 uses it, including several over 6... so it not working leaves me being a sad panda

Weird. I have a popmenu bound to TILDE on a few of my characters, and it works just fine. I remember attempting to bind it to ` and not having it work...
Maybe it got changed recently, and won't accept new binds as ` but will let old binds using ` as the 'name' work?

Edit: Also, just to be clear, this isn't only impacting new binds. It's impacting all the prior binds I setup using ` on every character I tried.

?? ` isn't an accent, if it was it would go over a character, like è. It's officially called a.... oh! {ahem} Never mind. {blush}
To the point, though, I've heard of other folks having issues with `. And with ~, for that matter. I don't remember anyone finding a solution, but you can try doing a /petition - they keep a LOT better records than we do.
P.S. Colors are working on CoH Helper now, it's just that Kitsune's drivers aren't very old. Less than 6 months old, actually. That's not too bad at all, IMHO.
Good to know Zloth. I thought I'd seen yellowed drivers about that old before, but I guess it's just my swiss-cheese memory.
Getting old sucks, but it sure beats the alternative.

Interesting. In the game, since I started playing, I've always used this command for all my characters:
/bind tilde follow |
` "follow" |
Since the last COH patch, this issue has now started affecting me. I cannot bind the tilde button either using "tilde" or ` and no keypresses using that key are being logged if I try to bind using the menu.
However, the key is being accepted if I try to use it to type into the chat bar.

..and no, it's not just because I had something bound to that key previously, but I actually rebind it on-the-fly several times a day:
/bind DIVIDE "beginchat /bind TILDE targetcustomnext enemy alive "
I simply press / and type the name of the enemy I want to search for (usually a boss, or General, or Cyst), then spam the TILDE to search for my intended target.
Still works flawlessly for me. Not sure anybody has figured out what makes this stop working for some people.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
