Does anyone know what the damage debuff on running Chilling Embrace is? On Ice tanks I think its 14%. Also is this damage debuff S&L only or is it across the board?
-
Thanks Cynic. I could swop out the recreds from GIS and BIB for end redux'ers if I am going to pick up Hasten.
What I have found is that I play my Dom in a very similar manner to my Brute (suicidal?) in that I rush from mob to mob and build up Domination in the same way I do Fury and then whammo full endurance again.
In regards to the travel being late. I know, I just can't help it! The build is really tight as it is. I would have liked to have got the Fighting pool and get Tough but just can't fit it in. I should imagine the CE damage debuff + Tough + Patron shield would lead to a very resilient character.
Also I can confirm that the irratating delay at the end of ISC has now been fixed.
Cheers Idris. Ill drop the Holds from Jack and use them to boost Shiver with an extra slow and AA with an extra Confuse duration. -
To illuminate the OP I have included a proposed build:

My Hero Builder is a little out of date but there you are. -
Hello All,
I had all but given up on CoV due to the lag I had been experiencing but my B'day is coming and with the thought of getting some more RAM I decided to get a head-start on rolling a Dom.
Having chossen Ice melee as my Assault set I expect to be in melee on a regular basis and have already picked up Ice Sword and ISC. To this end I have a couple of questions:
1. How should I slot Arctic Air?
2. Given that I hope to be meleeing a lot is running Arctic Air and Chilling Embrace a viable strategy. I beleive that just running those two toggles will mean me hitting the -recharge and -slow cap on even level mobs which should mean lots of ISC fun.
If anyone has any observations on this or advice on Ice/Ice dominating in general please post it up - it will be much appreciated. -
TY for the comments guys. I think I'll go Haste/SS and save some slots and drop Fly.
This might also let me squeze in the Leadership pool. I've also taken note of the FF slotting points - not played a bubbler before so need all the help I can get! -
Well it was really a choice of that or Medicine. Heal Other for the Singualrity and then Heal Self for when I'm bubbled.
However I also figured that Tough + TI would give me very reasonable S&L protection for anything that got through my bubbles.
Was going for a Troller/Tank type idea. What do you think? -
Hello All,
Please have a look at this as a proposed build for PvP. One notable weakness is the lack of tactics which I just couldn't fit in.

Comments please. -
Knocking people without a vertical travel power off the top of the tower would be fantastic amounts of fun!
-
Thats a pretty firm no.
Looks like just a +Acc and possibly a Recharge if I have the slots.
TY guys. -
Hello All,
I've just rolled a Grav/FF troller and wanted to ask if Force Bolt was any good? I picked it and am planning to slot it 2xAcc 1xRec 3xDam.
I was planning to use it as a filler between Lift and Repel as an additional attack on Contained targets and to annoy people in PvP.
Is this viable? -
Good for you.
I think Defenders have been neglected for a while as ED put a lot of "Offenders" off. Having said that, their lack of popularity has made me roll a few recently. Including a Storm/Elec and a Kin/PSI both of which are great although for me becuase I solo a lot the Kin wins. -
Currently messing with a Kin/PSI to ultimately get into PvP.
1. Kinetics primary allows me to pick more powers from my Secondary as I am concentrating on self-buffing.
2. Nice secondary effects from PSI like -Recharge and Immobilizes stack well with;
3. Siphon Speed for increased attack rate and -Recharge and -Speed on foes.
Just pick a concept you like and go for it. Don't worry about being uber. All the powersets are good fun! -
Beers, Steers & [censored] - Ministry
Jesus built my hotrod - Ministry
$10 Dollar Bill - Cop shoot Cop
for Animal Mutha EM/Inv Brute. -
Taunt is useful because of its little recognised secondary effects. Taunt immediately creates polarised opinions on its utility and has a powerful distraction effect making forum users post for hours and hours on wether a tank can be a tank without taunt.
-
There's a clear distinction between RP'ing the game i.e. doing door missions etc in character and milling about under GG having a chat with your mates.
The only player I've met who actually grouped and did missions in character was Red Commissar and very good at it he was too. -
I think that he could just be levelled without a respec. As for levelling he would obviously be mainly team based and kind of run round the fracas shouting "Please stop fighting", "Can't we discuss this like adults" and "Freakshow aren't bad people they're the result of a bad enviroment."
I've also thought of a name: "Not in the face." -
Thats why he's "bad-Superman". A very, very bad Superman.
-
I've got a mutant SS/Inuvl brute on Union called Dog-Boy.
He's a cross between bad-Superman and an Alsatian. -
I really want to help people so intend to Grant Invisibility, heal and ressurrect to buff everyone, friend or foe.
-
Hello All,
Please comment on my proposed new PvP build. He's called the Pacifist and has been inspired by "Offending" defenders. Basic concept is he runs and hides and avoids getting into trouble at all costs. What do you think?

This is my first experiment with Hero Builder so don't be too harsh. Shame I can't spec out Thunder Kick. -
If you find Brutes inadequate in comparison to Tanks then you might find the same true of Dominators if you are used to playing Controllers.
The only thing abouts Brutes is that they are clearly not Tanks (I think they are more similar to Scrappers) but you should look at them without your Tank hat on. Tanking (i.e. taking one for the team) is a very non-villianous way of looking at it.
Maybe Dark/Dark was the wrong power choice for you. How about Fire/invul for higher resistance and Fury-fuelled AoE madness. I'm playing a Fire/Fire Brute at the mo and he plays in a very similar fashion to my old Fire/Fire Tank (pre-Burn nerf of course).
I think that you should have a look at a Corruptor and focus on control (ice/dark?) but then again everyone is either a Corruptor or a MM.
Seeing as you are already a PvP of renown will you be looking for a PvP toon ultimately? -
Any feedback on how the Brutes performed Kin?

As a PvP armour, Fire isn't so bad for Brutes as it's usually painted, you just have to adapt to the resistance limitations of the set and take as much "offensive defence/control" from your primary and power pools. Healing Flames/Consume are the main tools that give /Fire Brutes any longevity in PvP, in terms of allowing you to build Fury and then giving you enough endurance to use it. Build Up + Fiery Embrace is also really helpful for on-demand burst damage, something Brutes tend to lack from a standing start.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is really good advice. Most Brutes will struggle to build Fury in PvP so two really good self-buffs will be a great way to make a quick start.
In my (albeit limited) DA experience you have to be selective about what shields you run and when. This means that it is more demanding to play in the first instance, but ultimately more rewarding and flexible in the long run.
If you intend to sit there with all your shields on, pummeling away with few end redux'ers slotted then yes, end will be a problem.
The other point to make about DA is that it is a Jack-of -All-Trades. Equally it is the master of none. Your S&L resistence will be low and I found that unless you're very careful you can soon get out of your depth. A BS scrapper will have you for breakfast.
The same could be said about FA but at least you get Healing Flames, which is IMHO the best Brute or Tank combat heal. Well slotted and with Hasten it will be up regularly enough to making you a lot more resilient. -
I believe that they (Cryptic) are looking again at toggle dropping because of the gimping effect it has on certain ATs and powersets. Hopefully the chance of it occuring will be lowered considerably. 33% is just too high.
The other reason that Brutes struggle PvP wise is that Fury builds at such a slow pace when one on one as opposed to being pounded on by hundreds of minions in PvE.
It goes without saying that if you don't have a well slotted secondary and either a good combat heal like Healing Flames you won't last long enough to build enough Fury to kill things.
