    Tanker Rivalry?

I enjoy being on a team with more than 1 Tank personally. I've been a Tank since I started. Being a "mature" player, I usually ask if the other Tank would like to play lead Tank, unless I build the team, like for TF's. I don't have an ego as such, however, if after a while the lead Tank seems skittish or unsure, I usually just take the lead (I tend to run missions very fast if I think the team can handle it). Nothing is ever said, there is NEVER any bickering, and we tend to run several missions before the team starts to break up (lvl'ing, dinner, etc...).

That being said, I like to look at other Tank's builds (and IO sets bonuses). I have no problem learning from another Tank, and if I see them do something that works that I like, I'll adopt it myself.

Probably Hasten unless you've got a buttload of cash available for IOs to add global recharge, which is my plan when mine gets there.

I did take Hasten. I used it taking on the Praetorians...man it came in handy. The End usage is a beast tho. I'm working on Mids trying to find a +Rec build. I still haven't found a way to add FE tho. Still trying to find a way to increase +Def too. I'm sitting at 13% all right now...trying to get to 20%.

    My first 50...

Gratz!! My first 2 50's were Tanks. I love to be a Tank!
  4. appreciate the comments. Hasten was my second choice. Assault was my first, and only because it was a constant 10% base damage which would stack nicely to all my +damage IO bonuses...on top of Rage. I suspect if I could get both Hasten and FE near-perma, that would definitely be the way to go. I'll have to look into getting FE into my build somehow.
  5. About to hit 50 with my Fire/SS/Fire. I hit 49 and haven't lvl'd yet. I would like to farm with this guy, and I'm not sure what to take at 49. I'm sure I'll end up respeccing him. which of these powers would be best?

    FE; Melt Armor; Assault; Hasten
  6. OK...not to threadjack, but if SS/FA is so awesomesauce for farms (and I have 2 Brutes and a Tank in this combo...love them), then why is it that AE teams insist on a */Stone Brute?

    /Threadjack off

Before I upgraded my Fire/Fire with high end IO’s I was sitting at 71 Res / 32 melee defense with the basic IO sets above.

Care to post that build...I'd like to see it.
  8. Bots/FF was my first MM when CoV came out. it took several false starts to get going with him tho. Now he's 45. Pretty damn solid with IO sets. I have several other MM combos I'm trying out. My favorite and most fun so far is my Necro/Dark that just hit 50 today. Just all-round fun to play, especially on teams.

    Invul/Nrgy Tank

    [ QUOTE ]
I seriously don't think you have an Invul saying something as ridiculous as that. I on the other hand actually have an Invul/Enrg. And still use Unstoppable whenever needed. Unless your at full set Io's at lvl 32, I seriously doubt your "powerful" without unstoppable at those early levels, and even then your saying no to a "god mode" power....tell me your new to CoH....tell me you like scrappers more than tanks...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I don't know....

I have a fully IO'd out Inv/EM Tank with Tough/Weave/Aid-Self. The only thing I ever use the T9 for is Recovery, and even then I rarely use it (IO'd +end/+rec). I thought about respeccing out of the T9 for something else...maybe Taunt.

My EM is also perm shelved.

    [/ QUOTE ]

All mine are now. 2 50's and a handful of lvl 20-30's. The nerf sucked too much for me to even care about them anymore.

    Playing a scrapper...
I could never say no to a tank on the team...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd normally say the same...until I ran on a lvl 20-ish team running the midnighter arc the other day. Inv/* Tank didn't have his status protection. But he did have both the flight and speed power pools and I believe he had 3 of the 4 powers in each pool. I thought something was bugged when I saw him flopping around...until I looked at his powers.

Have been thinking about an earth/storm. My plant/storm was the most fun ride i've ever had to 50, (not to mention fast too). So im thinking Earth/storm should be just as fun

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

I ran my Plant/Storm to 46 (perma now) in virtually no time. I'm a Tanker by heart, but the Plant/Storm was the most fun I've had in almost 5 years now. But, I do have a 50 Fire/Kin to pay for all the Procs that made it worthwhile. I'm lvl'ing up an Earth/Storm/(probably Fire) now. 1 more lvl and I can place all the lvl 20 Procs into him. The big difference between the Plant and Earth is the "BOOM" factor...and Plant seems to be a bit safer earlier (confuse power).

I get that seed capital by selling my 2 big inspirations from the tutorial.

Is remarkable how much of a boost those get you at the start

    [/ QUOTE ]

yep-yep. from there, a little bit of arbitrage will get you a million in under an hour.

Whoever said for the Empath to "stand behind the tank" doesn't play tanks much. One of the keys to proper tanking is to position yourself away from the mobs and your friends so as to direct AE & once attacks away from your teammates.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think it's a matter of playstyle actually. I run one Emp/* Defender and a whole lot of Tanks. Depending on what type of bad guys we're facing will determine where I stand/fly with my Emp/*. If there is little chance or small effect AoE, I will stand behind a Tanker...with a taunting aura, it's safer (for me anyway. YMMV). If there is a lot of AoE, I will move far enough away to miss the splash damage. This is no guarantee of course...those Crey that launch sleep gas, or DE mushrooms seem to find you no matter where you are.
  15. Well...did my "due diligence" here on the forums...knew what I was getting beforehand. First thing I did was jump to the top of the Atlas globe and down to the City hall dome for the badges. Seems to work pretty good to me. Oh, and I wasn't necessarily going for the badges, I wanted to see the operation and the recharge time for myself. My first impression, from on the forums, was that it would be helpful in Perez Park and other Hazard Zones...especially for those who were SS inclined vs anything else.
