Earth/Storm Combo Question
Earth/Storm is a great combo. My fave. atm, and the only combo I've ever been tempted to write a guide for.
Two great KD powers - Earthquake and Freezing Rain. With a few slots and proper timing, you can keep cycling these pretty much indefinitely on a mob.
Two Slows- Snowstorm and Quicksand, just in case anyone had the foolish notion of trying to run away from the Earthquake/Freezing Rain Permaflop. Plus a nice defense debuff to boot.
Stuns, oh the stuns! Stalagmites + Thunderclap will stun damn near everyone, including bosses. Plus Tornado has a chance to stun. Throw Cages on them so they don't wander off.
Throw in Fissure from Stone Mastery for a Stun so deep, you can go make a sandwich while your team mops up the drunks.
Stay Gold, Paragon. Stay Gold.
Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.
Earth/Storm absolutely kills. When you want to, you can pretty much bring everything and everyone to a screeching halt. Tons of slowing, disorients, lots of -def. The two powersets stack together very nicely. A little slow starting off to solo, but once things pick up, it just rolls. And in large team settings, its even better. TONS of "control" (provided your team can handle all the noise, flash, and chaos.. lol)

Earth/Storm is probably the most dramatic power set combo in the game. Nearly every single action you take is followed by a huge BOOM sound and a shaking screen. I actually have to turn the sound down on my computer every time I play that combo.
I just got my earth/storm to 50 last night. Oh what a ride. Love this combo. I found for about 75% of the game quicksand, freezing rain, earthquake is about all you need. You amost forget about your other powers lol. So to mix it up ill stalagmite or volcanic gas their [censored]. I dont use tornado much but i do have it. Same goes for hurricane. But like Mahabone23 said. You can litterlly make a sammcih if you drop the stalagmite + thunderclap + fissure combo lol.
Earth/Storm is tied with Illusion/Storm for my favorite build. It is incredibly powerful, but honestly there's almost no chaos to it. The mobs are so tightly controlled through every situation at all times that they never get to fight back. Never ever. Some times it appears to be chaos, but if you want true chaos, opt for Illusion/Storm. Even then, Tornado is pretty situational or it actually slows your pace by causing scatter.
You are right though, Earth and Storm have a lot of possible synergies, which lets you pick and choose the best way to dismantle any give mob of bad guys.
One warning: even with both Veteran attacks, and a LOT of procs, Earth/Storm will solo very slowly till the late 20s and doesn't solo quickly till the late 30s. If you tend to team though you will be their best asset, adding to their damage potential in multiple ways while keeping the mobs helpless.
My Earth/Storm is level 41 and is terrific. I love playing her, and you're right: Quicksand, Earthquake, and Freezing Rain are an awesome combo. There are times when I'm at a loss as to which of my many powers I want to use next.
However.......I still remember the pain of leveling up throught the teens and twenties. Trying to solo prior to lvl 33 (when Stoney is fully slotted) was terrible. How many times did I have to spam Fossilize/Stone Prison/Air Superiority (all slotted for max damage)? If not for a marathon 12 hour, 2 TF all-nighter on a great 8 man team, I don't think I would have made it through the 20s with this alt. Also, Double XP weekend got her through the 30s (with Tornado and LS as prizes).
I love my Earth/Storm now, but I don't think I want to start another one!
Please try my arcs:

I'm strongly thinking about creating a Earth/Storm/Fire Controller myself! Any sample builds people are particularly proud of and wouldn't mind posting? It seems like this is one of those combos that you really need to know what you're doing to play effectively.
Have been thinking about an earth/storm. My plant/storm was the most fun ride i've ever had to 50, (not to mention fast too). So im thinking Earth/storm should be just as fun

This.
I ran my Plant/Storm to 46 (perma now) in virtually no time. I'm a Tanker by heart, but the Plant/Storm was the most fun I've had in almost 5 years now. But, I do have a 50 Fire/Kin to pay for all the Procs that made it worthwhile. I'm lvl'ing up an Earth/Storm/(probably Fire) now. 1 more lvl and I can place all the lvl 20 Procs into him. The big difference between the Plant and Earth is the "BOOM" factor...and Plant seems to be a bit safer earlier (confuse power).
50 Inv/SS Tank, 50 Inv/EM Tank, 50 FA/SS Tank, 50 Shield/SS Tank, 50 WP/SS Tank, 50 Dark/Dark Tank, 50 EM/Elec Brute, 50 SS/FA Brute, 50 SS/SR Brute, 50 Fire/Kin Controller, 50 Plant/Storm Controller, 50 Earth/Therm Controller, 50 Necro/Dark MM, 50 Bots/FF MM, 50 Elec/SD Scrapper, 50 Arch/MM Blaster, 50 Emp/Psi Defender
i've never had more fun with a build than my earth/storm, and never been tempted to roll the exact same build a second time just because it was so much fun, except for my earth/stormer.
you won't do much damage early on, so hopefully you have vet powers (earth's -def makes them viable) or plentiful teammates.
I'm still new to the whole controller game, more of a defender actually but I recently rolled a Ill/Rad and am having great fun with it. However, I was looking and began to wonder, how would a Earth/Storm do? I don't plan on trying till I get my other to 50 but I was curious. There just seems to be tons of chaos that could be had there. Earthquake for bouncing, tornado for tossing, Quicksand for slowing em and Lightning Storm for makin'em bounce. It all sounds kinda fun but I was curious has anyone here done one to any great extent? So chime in and tell me what you think or what some strategies you have used with this combo.
I'm thinking, when earthquake is down that Stone Cages and Tornado could be fun
