I am convinced of one thing today. Avatea should be on ALL of the ustream chats...

Quote:May want to take a look at this thread.Since the pre-reqs for pool powers are being altered in i21 you can make a Fire/Shield with top tier DPS and fit in Aid Self without having to take Aid Other or Stimulant. That's worth thinking about!

Seems to no longer be, or not have been the case. -

If you like this show, I would suggest reaiding E.E. Knight's Vampire Earth books.
-
Sure, if you want to spend RL money for inspirations, I would love it. The more money people spend on items like this, the faster things like powers will come out.
-
The new Monster Hunters Inc. came out the same day. I will be reading Ghost Story this week. It is good to hear that it was good.

I was REALLY impressed with this. My son was picking on me at first, because I had attempted to watch the original with him a few years ago. He thought is was pretty stupid then, and he was 10. Tonight (he is 14 now) he sat down and watched the reboot with me. He said "WOW! This is cool!" which made me happy.

Mako: There is just nothing else like him in game imo. That and sharks scare me.
Nightstar, or the other Viki models: Their arm blades are just wicked.
PPD Hardsuits: Man those are amazing!
The Warworks: Our Preatorian CW costumes are pretty cool, but the face body and gloves of the Warworks is just crazy! -
I think there should only be player rigs, with the exception of GMs. This may would include new RIGs for players to cover the less humanoid costumes, but it would be worth it imo.
-
I think it would be a terrible idea to tell the players first. The tone of the other thread proves why closed beta is such a good idea.
-
If there are costumes, and powers that I don't have involved, then you can also have my money.

I really hope a change to Hasten is in the plans somewhere.
Ice Armor is the power set that comes to mind when I think of what needs an update the most.
Claws and Broad Sword are tied for second. Both of these powers are pretty dull compared to the rest of the melee powers. -
I loved it! It was everything I wanted to be, and the only thing that could have made it better was if it were longer.

Best part was when Posi said "Kick em in the jimmy."

Quote:I have. And what I remember being said about that poll was that shield was #1, and Dual Weapons was #2, nothing past that. I do know a realistic fighting set has been requested forever, so much so that players have tried filling that hole with Super strength, DM, and EM. Let's face it, MA just looks fruity like some TKD demonstration, and the punches added were not that impressive. As a RL martial artist, I would like a set that looks like you could actually be fighting with it.
Have you've been here from the beginning, and I mean City of Heroes ONLY BETA beginning?
To ease the pain, expect new powers every few months after Freedom goes live. Just don't expect them to all be free. -

Quote:Maybe by the time the con is over we will get some video. I am pretty excited about any new scrapper set, but a dirty/street fighting set has been requested for a LONG time.Street Justice is a combo-centric melee power set for all the melee archetypes(Brute, Scrapper, Stalker, Tanker). All the powers have their own secondary effect as opposed to other sets like Dark Melee that focuses on to-hit de-buffs. Most of the set's powers and combo points that make your Finisher powers stronger. This isn't the same as dual blades in that it's not going toward a buff, but almost like a Rogue in WoW. Street Justice is mostly Smashing and Lethal damage and the attacks are punches and a couple kicks with some lighting effects. -
Quote:While you may not like it, I am betting those of us who primarily play Melee toons are going to love it.Street Justice I'm going to have to see a lot more of before I make a decision on it but for now? Eh I'm not feeling it.
I know a "Down and dirty, back-alley" martial arts style has been a hotly requested feature, but it really feels like something that would have been better suited as just customization for MA. The features it seems to have would have been great for some kind of transformation-based set, with each transformation having a different effect.
Furthermore, if they were going to go out of their way to make a "Street fighting" set, I would have hoped it involved more unique aspects instead of kicks and punches. Use of "Dirty Fighting" tactics like throwing rocks/bricks, slinging mud/dirt/sand in the enemy's eyes poisoning weapons, spiked knuckles/brass knuckles, that sort of thing. I'm sure it has all of the new animation team's signature flare and will look amazing, but said flare would have been better for MA if it was just going to be more kicks and punches. I can(and have) make a passable Kicking & punching dude/chick already.
Giving me a different thing that's just a new "Flavor" of the same thing when I could have gotten
A:something completely new or
B: More flavor added to the existing thing
doesn't sound encouraging.
Finally, if it visually fits certain characters more(and it probably will) I'll have to consider re-rolling in the future, versus a simple visit to the tailor. -
You should post this on the For fun general boards too.

Quote:I was with my wife when I started LARPing, so I will say that HOT is in the eye of the beholder. The statement was a sarcastic one, and one meant to poke fun at myself as much as anything else.Because who cares if she has the same interests as you, if a chick isn't hot she's not viable girlfriend material, amirite?
There are some very well done LARPS, but there are a greater number of the well done ones in Europe. Here are some trailers for several.
Here is a US larp based in the SE

Here is one of the larger European ones.

Both were filmed by film students.
The budget of some Euro LARPs is larger than some of the movies that go straight to video. The second of the two tends to have about 3k people attend for the weekend at I think it is 150 Euros a pop. US LARPs tend to have MUCH less money to spend on FX and such. -
As luck would have it, I just got an order for a $200 sword, which I have all the materials for and will not need to spend any money out of pocket. I think I am going to stick that money in a safe place (under the mattress, or buried in a coffee can), and spend it on market points when Freedom comes out.
So, I should have the points to get whatever I want. -
