Where are new players even getting the idea that they should be farming in the Architect, anyway? Isn't that something jaded veterans do?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't want this to turn into an farming argument but since you asked...

They are likely learning it from the jaded Vets

Newb: "Hey, how do I level fastest?"

    Jaded Vet: "Farm AE."

Doesn't help that there's an AE in Atlas Park...

I feel that this is one of the reasons the Devs want to crack down on farming, before it becomes a pure farm fest, where even new players are farming... that's the quick route to a game dying.

Anyway, back to regularly scheduled programming.

    Hello there

Hey Animal, I've been here on the US side for five years now, welcome!

I hear that UK and US servers will soon be connected so joining there or here might be moot.

There is no longer any farming in the AE. There are hilariously inept attempts at imitating farming.

I agree, no need to get bent out of shape the first time round O.O . I don't even remember how many STF's I was a part of that failed until I finally got one that succeeded. 9 times out of 10 it was ghostwidow that halted the team, not even lord recluse.

Try it again, see what teams succeeded, build up a different team based on the info. They may tweak it as well.

Sometimes you can be lucky, sometimes not.
    /e shrug

    [/ QUOTE ]

Although I try not to go hyperbolic, I can see why people are kind of angry, unlike the LRSF where it's just really hard, a lot of people here are doing it correctly, it's just broken... which is annoying...
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Wait, so you NEED an MM on the team?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, you would if the power they got actually worked...
  7. Current theory seems to be the MM's power is bugged to not work...
  8. Oddly, we got the 5th to stop attacking us after a heck of a lot spawned and will killed them all with the failsafe device.

We still couldn't defeat Reichman however...

Edit: Ah, discovered what the problem was, I renamed the Updater to Starter to get around Vista's admin only thingy mabob with things called "updater". And that was causing problems since the updater was updated for I15

For all the complainers about the "lack of information" in the interview:

Every question posed to Positron at herocon '08 that he responded "no comment" to has become (or is in the process of becoming) reality.

CoH for Mac, Going Rogue, Color Customization, etc.

Chances are that the "no comments" are a way of not giving the competition the heads up on what's planned. It's now a competitive market. No sense in giving away all your secrets just to have someone else rush it into a competing game.

Also, City of Villains was announced in 2004... a year before it became a reality. Going Rogue should be no different. It's their way of saying, "We're finally able to do what you wanted... just stick around a bit longer."

[/ QUOTE ]That's a stupid reason. CoX people are getting paranoid by CO. The reason why anyone in a game business says "no comment" is because it is too far off to confirm and it may change.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am not paranoid of CO. I don't understand why ANYONE would be.
City of Heroes has survived the likes of Prototype and InFamous... Why would CO even dent us? Really?

City of Heroes has been competing with WOW for 5 years... WOW for Christs sake...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, Prototype and inFamous aren't MMOs and WoW is a Fantasy MMO not a Super Hero MMO...

    Just sayin'...

Not that I think that CO will destroy CoH or anything.
  14. You'll notice a few missions here and there that you won't be able to solo if you have the "wrong" AT or set up. However, for the most part you should be able to solo most content.

And of course, there's always Mission Architect, that has plenty of solo friendly stuff.
  15. I'm just glad we can change our height at last! I've had a hero and a villain too short for too long!

I didn't know that there existed ANY letter combination that would give ZERO GOOGLE RESULTS AND NO ALTERNATE SPELLING SUGGESTION!

However, this thread now shows up on Google...

Wasn't there a website dedicated to search terms that would only show up ONE result in google? Dunno if it's still around now though.
  17. I'd like to see some ability to edit the effects of the powers, like alter particle effects and stuff, but I highly doubt that you'll be able to change the animation your character does, considering how complicated animation time, rooting time, activation time and various other thing are.

Hero: Valkyrie because I like Norse Mythology.

Villain: Ghost Widow cause.... she's a pretty ghost. Seriously though her and Recluse are the only villains out of the big Arachnos 5 that I don't think look lame.

Huh, I think they all look pretty cool in their own ways.

$6 to save a 100k file? No thanks.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gotta go along with this. I don't mind them selling more story slots, but the price is WAY too high. I'd maybe pay $5 for like 10 extra slots, anything more than that is a little ridiculous.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They really should allow us to use some of the slots as added storage, for like custom groups and stuff, I'd buy all 5 then, use a couple for some villain groups and the rest for arcs.

If my Dom has the END issues of heavy-duty melee-types, then I will be expecting the DAMAGE she does to be equivalent. But we're not gonna get that and..... *reaches for top shelf of the storage-closet*...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bad, what you're missing is that Dominator damage got buffed twice. Once their base damage mods were increased by around 50%, for which they paid with the damage buff in Domination. Thing is, though, the increase makes their attacks deal as much damage as before, only ALL the time. They got buffed a second time when their attacks were almost all increased in scale damage INDEPENDENT of their base damage. For this, they paid with a recharge and endurance increase. However, DPE is a constant defined by power type which remained the same, and DPS is defined on a sliding scale ever so slightly favouring faster attacks, which also remained true.

The net result is that you do more damage with fewer attacks and pay about as much per enemy. What changed, however, was that now they have "gaps" in their attack chains. People are trying to fill in those gaps, which costs more endurance, and they use silly stuff to fill in, costing themselves more endurance still. I don't know how Dominators played before, but I can clearly see how they're supposed to play now. Rather than needing a full attack chain to loop over and over again, they play like Blasters, applying heavy damage quickly, then pausing to control. These "gaps" are, in my eyes, to be used to apply your actual control powers for the sake of controlling the enemy.

The damage buff is significant. Dominators now have enough damage to rival a Blaster outside of Aim and Build Up, and some Assault sets seem to have those, to boot. Dominator Snipes, for instance, do more damage than Blaster Snipes even at a ranged damage mod .1 lower. With a melee damage mod the second-highest after Scrappers and overpowered melee attacks added to that, the damage output is SIGNIFICANT.

This is a buff all around, there is no question about that. It's a CHANGE, of course, and a change people will have to adapt to, but it is nothing short of a significant buff, Psychic Shockwave notwithstanding.

This sounds good to me. Of course I never used Perma Dom...
