What? No thread yet on Extra Slot announcement?
Five bucks a slot? Geez.
Actully, $6 bucks for one ... $10 for 2 and $20 for 5.
Does anyone think that they're looking at MA as the new cash cow of CoX?
Personally, given the 8 extra slot limit per account ... I think they're shooting for the whole enchillada ... because 1 + 2 + 5 = COINCIDENCE (I mean, 8).
Will they get us to fork over another $36? (Only time will tell.)
And just like ... um, drug dealers? ... they're offering you your first "taste" FREE ... on test.
That is a bit pricey. Hopefully they're testing the price targets as well as the technical infrastructure.
On the other hand...I'm not sure we want some of these folks writing 8 arcs, are you?
Oh and hey! Does this mean if an arc is DC'd you get some money back?

It's not a max of 8 EXTRA story slots; it's a max of 8 slots TOTAL. The patch notes make this more clear:

Players can purchase up to 5 additional story slots with a maximum slot count of 8 slots. Please note that players start with 3 story slots.

No, I would imagine it's just like now. Right now there's a max of 3 slots per account; getting a DC or HoF frees up one of those slots so you can effectively have more than the "max." Once the max is 8, I don't see why the mechanics would change.

The money-back thing was a joke.
But the 'extra' slot granted when an arc gets flagged CD or HoF is an aspect I hadn't considered, I guess I was assuming they would change it to a 'hard' max of 8. I'm sure you're right, they probably won't change it. It's not like they're handing those out like candy anyway.
$6 to save a 100k file? No thanks.

Gotta go along with this. I don't mind them selling more story slots, but the price is WAY too high. I'd maybe pay $5 for like 10 extra slots, anything more than that is a little ridiculous.

They really should allow us to use some of the slots as added storage, for like custom groups and stuff, I'd buy all 5 then, use a couple for some villain groups and the rest for arcs.
Damnit! There goes my twenty bucks!
Imagine if you PAID for extra slots and your arc got complaints and got locked?
Probably not a problem though ... since you'd have to get all three of free slots banned BEFORE they started in with your paid ones.
I'm tentatively for paid slots. I'm not sure what the MA server's capacity is, but when you increase the data from thousands of users by more than double, there could be even more lag and the like.
Not to mention the new deluge of phoned-in farms and bottom-rung origin stories.

ok, this is even double ubber exploit, you got offered more slots for a price, but the size of your missions will exeed your stock anyways.
So i bet next move will be: ok, we sold you more slots, but your story arcs exeeds the stockage limit, so we offer you more space for only 5 usd per SA??????
Keiser Soze got hold of NC SOFT.
No wonder why mod 08 told me we would have some explanations very soon.

nope, ashes to ashes.
You get 3 arc slots for free (well, for your subscription cost).
I have a real job, so I have no problem paying $20 for 5 more arc slots.
I realize a bunch of people are going to complain about the cost, because it's "just storage space" (not considering the cost it took for the devs to actually create Mission Architect), but consider that you pay more than that for:
* Dinner in a restaurant. And that's just, you know, ingredients that probably cost almost nothing.
* An oil change. That's just some cheap chemicals, after all! Why should it be so expensive?
* A hardcover book. It's made of paper for chrissake! You can get blank paper for way cheaper, what's with the huge markup?
* A ticket to a concert or sporting event. That's not even something material! It's just rental of a seat for a couple hours! Why should it cost money at all?
In summary, everything is a rip off! But CoH is less of a ripoff than most.

[/ QUOTE ]It is just storage space. Access to the MA and three slots worth comes "free" with your paid subscription to CoX. The only thing you get for the additional money is 100k of storage. That's what? Around 1/16th of a 3.5" floppy disc?
I said in another thread that it's good that the developers came up with some sort of option and if you think it's worth the money then go for it and God bless. I'm glad you think it's worth it. But other people saying that it's a rip-off for the price seems perfectly justified.[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]CoX is a wonderful bargin for the price. The extra storage slots for MA arcs aren't (in my opinion, YMMV).

Lol well put.
I've got no problem with the price either. I do feel sympathy for those who aren't as rolling in filthy lucre as me, but if the West hadn't won the Cold War, well our Mission Arkitekt Slotz would be free of course, paid for by the State, but we'd all be wearing identical dungarees and going schitzo trying to deal with wonderful idealism vs the corruption of human greed while we toiled in the fields.
Consider the $20 as a retroactive War Bond payment in the fight against Communism.

You know what is funny, why even offer the packages?
$5.99 for 1, $9.99 for 2, $19.99 for 5.
Anything less than five arcs is a total ripoff at that pricing, the other two must only exist to make extra money off of people who really suck at math.
Works for state lotteries....

Funniest post I've run in a long time! 5 stars, one just for a Cold War Communism reference!
I think the slots are rather pricey, and I'm hoping they'll see this feedback and modify them a bit. It will mean the difference between my buying 1 or 2 slots and buying 5.
What are you guys waiting for????
