Powernova is stalker fodder in Sirens
[/ QUOTE ]
Not when he's with me. The guy is clear-minded up to the ears. Seeing stalkers isn't a problem. -
[ QUOTE ]
on 1vs1 when they granite well there are issues. Plus on team fights allocating time for a granite brute while u getting hammered around is not that effective and u know it thats why u got Powernova and dont play innocent to me
[/ QUOTE ]
I guess I don't have any special tactics because vs. a granite I just sit in hover and stack holds until he gets held. Because of the amount of -fly I chuck around, they tend not to be able to fly up and smack me either.
Yeah, we're all addicted to SB+ID now. When I team with Powernova in PvP we're dangerously good. -
Really? I don't use hugely special tactics against stone brutes. Just stacking holds. Like I do on everyone :P

never knew that, thankyou
Will need to respec her if i am to impliment this tactic as shes designed not to go any where near meele. Shes a pure blaster not one of these blapper things. The concept never appealed to me, blasters to me are range hard hitting damage dealers, again i guess im still thinking in PvE terms.
[/ QUOTE ]
You don't need to be a blapper, but it helps to have a couple of toggle drops. Just run in, smack em a couple of times (Frozen Fists and Ice Sword both drop toggles) and then run out and blast away. -
If your blaster is ice/ice, get in there and Ice Sword them! It's 100% chance to drop at least one toggle, and with no toggles you can just repeatedly freeze ray/freezing touch them until they're dead.
-
Those missles work well against trolls when you're exemped down in the hollows, as Laustin d'Woods will tell you.
YAHAA! BOOOOOOM! -

Oh don't get me wrong. I DO want the IoP but while I'm there I might as well mess around a bit And of course you are most welcome to try to do that to our base.
[/ QUOTE ]
Quote edited for truth.
As Smooth said, the simplest thing to do is NOT get an IoP. It's the same case here as in the PvP zones, if you don't want to PvP then don't do it! -
Gah, I predict a massive influx of posts like that.
The thing is, my tactic in a base raid WOULD be to destroy other stuff in the base rather than the people first. If they've got no power, how can they use their base defences? If they've got no control, how can they buy inspirations? If they've got no medibay, they'll have to either get a rez mid-fight, or run aaaall the way to a base portal from a hospital. -

We could change that, but you boys/girls/misc would whinge about getting beaten too much

lol you know you are too confident but we forgive you

I have to be. That way people start getting scared, and they don't look at my build and go "BAHAHAHAHA!!!!" -

[Seriously, Talin isn't the only good PvPer on Defiant. There is at least one other supergroup that is VERY into PvP....
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually Defiant has A LOT of awsome PVPers and PD's are in my list amongst the top. Too bad for the server that PD's and Insinc usually are teamed up together. I am just more spamming in terms of forums and broadcast compared to the rest thats all.

Bah come to defiant to see the real PvPers
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL your PvP expert has Teleport, don't start.

I dont have Teleport

Bah, you beat me to it.

I disagree. People would abuse it too much.
Besides, a PvP build will always perform well in PvE. -
Drop crush and take Lift at level 1. You won't need it once you get Crushing Field. Slot wormhole 3 range, 3 acc. The other things aren't really needed. Drop Dimension Shift. I have yet to find a use for it beyond "in theory" uses. If you're going PvP, take Force Bolt. It drops toggles and recharges in about 3 seconds.
-
As much as I try, I can't talk to someone who asks me a question and then argues about the answer I give him.
-
mind/storm is nice for pure control, so is mind/kin (triple damage if you hit them with a hold when you do your heal, which drops an unresistable immob).
Basically, choose one of the controller sets you like the look of and it's not hard to adapt it for PvP -

Perhaps i'll try to get someone to do it on me later as Sulphur. If it is vaild, i'll withdraw my previous reply

I dropped MaxPowerz toggles earlier with brawl. -

Psi Mastery cos there some nice tricks in that Epic Pool, an undroppable Mez Resistance
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, that mez resistance is very much droppable. Just not in the same way as you're thinking. -

Get yourself into a decent SG. For example, The Paragon Defenders are looking to expand at the moment. Maybe you could apply for a place on their forum?
I hear they're the most awesomest SG ever.

They used to be now they got Powernova

Psht. Me and Powernova are an uberr0x0r PvP killing SQUAD! -

I still think you're wrong. If you're PvE'ing, you shouldn't ever have enough aggro to be held. Acrobatics is not neccesary for a controller, and you're wasting a power. End of discussion.
-
I think they've nerfed it on US test anyway...melee toons no longer are effected by it's -acc debuff, so just jump over the top and hit a nice big attack.
-
Lift is 2 acc 3 dam 1 recharge. GD (single target) is 2 acc, 2 hold, 2 recharge. GDF I believe is the same.
As I said, take hasten but use it as a click power rather than just auto'ing it, then click that when you need to stack holds and attack lots.
Edit: If you can get in game now, I can take you through the way I PvP and show you some tricks. -

Tanks= as above. Stone tanks forget about it
Blasters= these are the biggest problem. A blaster armed with a full tray of BFs will destroy you. only chance is to hope he dosent bring any BFs
Defenders. You will need invis to drop any Rad debuffs. Dark defenders i hear are very good but ive never fought one. Dont think you should have much bother with the rest.
Controllers.= Always a good fight and who ever gets the first kill often goes on to win it. Watch out for end drain.
[/ QUOTE ]
What are you talking about? The people I'm LEAST afraid of are blasters, but that could be because I'm a /emp and as such have a pretty damn good self-heal. So they have break frees? You're a controller. BURN THROUGH THEM. Throw ALL the mezzes you have at them and forget the damage until they have obviously run out. Once this happens, start going wild and spamming lift and gravity distortion field. Then you'll see why you don't want propel.
Stone tanks? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, no more granite. If I can do it, so can you.
Defenders are easy, it's just a case of hoping your invis recharges as fast as their debuff will (with the exception of dark miasma's, who have their damn dark servant to kill as well).
Controller vs Controller fights are boring. It just comes down to whoever runs out of break frees first.
Oh, and you can use Lift to bring down fliers. If you want an immob for containment, do what I did and take Crushing Field. It's especially good in the open PvP zones because you'll have groups of enemies more than you'll be 1vs1.
If you keep propel, come to the arena on defiant (or warburg) and I'll SHOW you why you don't want it. -
For a start, drop propel. In PvE it's very nice, but in PvP it's essentially useless as you're rooted to the spot while the animation plays. The damage it does isn't enough to make the animation time viable.
The gravity powers that are good for PvP are: Lift, Gravity Distortion Field, Crushing Field, Wormhole, Gravity Distortion Field and (of course) Singularity. Take hasten, but use it as a click rather than autoing it and then only click it when you come up against someone with mez protection, so you can stack over their hold. Slot wormhole with three range and three accuracy, and then use it to stop people from running away rather than to TP them to you.
For your travel power, take hover and fly. Use hover at ALL times, because most stalkers won't have a travel power that'll keep them suspended next to you long enough for them to drop an AS. I also have stealth and invis, but they're more useful in the arena than in open PvP zones.
I can't say I know much about storm, but I'd say drop 02 boost if you have it. Oh, and run hurricaine all the time. If you're standing on the ground, melee toons just can't do anything when it's on.
