    I've been here since I2, and I can tell you that I've seen just as much call for a Dark Control set as I have for something along the lines of Titan Weapons or Staff Fighting. So I'm not sure that's really a good reason not to work on sets for varying ATs, instead of making 4 new melee sets and no new control sets.
  2. Heights, sometimes badly.

    When I was about 13, I was on a Boy Scout hiking trip. We stopped by this really big rock formation, and I climbed to the top. It had rained earlier in the day, and the top was covered in moss. As I turned to come back down, I slipped on the moss and fell down the side of the rock face. Someone very luckily was climbing up from the bottom. Also luckily, I was wearing a jacket with a hood on it. The guy climbing up caught me by the hood, and fell the rest of the way with me, but he slowed me down enough to save my life (and avoid any injury somehow).

    Ever since then, I've been afraid of heights where I don't feel in control or secure. Oddly enough, this means that I'm more afraid on roller coasters or drop rides on the way UP. Because once we start going down and I've therefore tested the restraints, I'm fine.

    Meanwhile, those giant's ladders you sometimes find at high element courses freak me out to no end. Like, not even off the bottom rung leaves me completely freaked. Since it's so wobbly, I never feel in control, and therefore cling to the bottom rung for dear life: a whole 2 feet off the ground.

    It was better when it proc'd on every single mob it hit, giving you up to 1,000 HP back every time you used it. I could Tank +2 spawns on test with nothing but Wet Ice and Frozen Aura. Man, those were the days.

    The "pulling in" part of your idea is what we've been told would need an engine rewrite. The positional resistance would just need a massive rebalancing of every power in the game.

    No, it means a fundamental change to the very basic coding of the game (i.e., the system that runs the game). So much so that doing so means a lot more work than you'd think, and if they were going to get down to that level of coding, they might as well work on a whole new game.

    This is a very complicated question with a very complicated answer. The problem is that almost everyone is going to have a different definition of originality. Even if we were to take the Oxford English Dictionary version of originality, I bet that some people would voice that they only agree with parts of it.

    That being said, I would include parodies and derivatives as being original, depending on how well they were pulled off. That last part is key for me. I've seen very "original" parodies, and I've seen rather bad parodies. Same with derivatives. Some people really stun me with how original they can be with a character that is an obvious rip-off of something else. And other people just copy outright.

    I don't require that somebody, in order to create an "original" character, not take any influence into consideration. I think that most of my more original characters have started off being inspired from some other source. It's just what we do with them once we have the inspiration that can make them either really original or really derived.

    He's not calling you lazy and unnecessary, he's calling the set lazy and unnecessary. Basically, if it's just a reskin of certain powers, instead of creating a new set entirely, then that is laziness on the part of the Devs, and a set that is only combining two different elements that we already have is very unnecessary, since we can already do that ourselves.

    Based on the evidence I've seen in this thread, I'm really thinking that this will not be the new set. And I'm really hoping it's not. If it is, I'll be severely disappointed.
  8. I would like a Judgement option for weapon sets. I'm not sure how hard it would be to createa single PBAoE Judgement option for Mace, Axe, Broadsword, Katana, and Dual Blades put together, but I would think that a similar animation could work for each of them.

    Then one for Assault Rifle, Beam Rifle, Dual Pistols, and Archery, consistent with each of those weapons would be nice.



    For a Gravity one, I would think something like the Abomination's power would be nice. The one where you get thrown up and down repeatedly would be both fun and in theme. Basically, you're reversing and normalizing gravity rapidly, causing your enemies to smash into the ground over and over.

    I don't see any "OMG OP!" in this set. I think it's actually very underpowered when compared to other sets. The reason for this is that a decent amount of it's protection comes from the Time's Juncture clone, which means that it depends on debuffs for basic protection. There are a couple of problems with this:

    1) Debuffs degrade against high-level enemies. Unlike a +Def or +Res shield, this power would get a double-wammy hit on it for a melee AT against higher level enemies. Not only does the enemy hit harder, but the debuffs are weaker, meaning that you get hit even harder still (meanwhile, with personal shields, the enemies only have the level increase to damage applied, not the resistance to your shield).

    2) Unless it tics really fast, you can get hit with an alpha strike before the -ToHit and -DMG go into effect, meaning that you take a higher proportion of the alpha strike than a similar +Def or +Res shield would take, where their protection is constantly on. This would be especially important for lower-level characters, who would be relying on this for their entire protection scheme.


    Given that, I'd say that you need more protection in some of the other powers, at least to S/L damage or something.

    Devs have said no to this multiple times. It would also be a huge problem with the new business model. Freebies (and some premiums) are limited to two character slots total. If people could just respec to basically make a new character, what would be the point of buying new character slots or subscribing?

    I was wondering if anyone could look over this build and see where I might be able to increase either survivability or offense. I'm liking the build for the most part, as it seems like it gives me a lot of different options for each spawn. I know that Trick Arrows isn't considered a top-notch (pun intended) set, but I wanted to give it a go.

    If this is a new set, it will likely have new animations. I don't think that that is what anyone is complaining about. I think it's more that it will just feel like a combination of existing sets, and not like a new one. I don't think I've ever seen anyone ask for a combination of ice/fire control set before. But I have seen plenty of people asking for a Dark Control set, or Dark Illusion. I know that I'd be heavily disappointed if the new set that we're told we're getting is just a combo of ice/fire effects.
  15. Simple* Suggestion:

    Leave the Dr. Kane's mansion zone in the game year-round. Just leave it as an easter egg that you can find if you know where to look. Don't necessarily leave the mission there, but at least the zone for people to explore. Have it be accessible from each of the three sides in the game from some sort of appropriate location.

    I was thinking that someplace in Dark Astoria for Heroes, by the hanging tree for Villains, and I'm not exactly sure where from Praetoria, but somewhere.

    Ahhh...missed that part. I would think that that would greatly clutter up the compass, though, as if you're in the corner of a zone, everything would overlap, but if you're in the middle, you'd have to stand there and turn around to see everything.

    Still, as an option, this couldn't hurt.
  17. Can't you already do this with some of those categories?

    In the lower right hand corner of the map box, there's a drop down menu (well, technically, it's a drop UP menu) that allows you to check/uncheck certain things that you want displayed on the map.

    People have been asking for a Dark Control set for a while. Never seen a call for "autumnal control."

    And yeah, looking at the pictures and knowing what War Witch's theme was, I really do imagine that she's just got some Ice Control and some Fire Control Powers merged into Autumnal Control, and same for the assault sets. It doesn't look like a new set, just a combination of two sets' powers.
  20. I doubt that this is the new set that they are talking about, but it could be. Just seems like a way to get War Witch into Praetoria, and give her sets roughly equivalent to what she was on Primal earth.


    I'm still thinking that we'll be getting some sort of Dark Control/Dark Assault set, but maybe we'll get more than one, and Autumnal will be it.

    Ice is pretty much where it's been at for a while now. It's pretty consistently in the middle of the pack, so it doesn't get tweaks up or down. The visuals are the real reason I see people not wanting to make an Ice Armor character.

    Performance-wise: it's really easy to soft cap it to S/L/E/NE damage with one enemy in range of EA, and then you've got a heal and CE as backup. You've got a damage aura (for a total of two aggro auras). You've got pretty comprehensive status protection, at least for hero-side content. And, if the fecal matter really hits the oscillating unit, you've got Hibernate to hide in until you heal back up.

    Not a bad set, if you ask me, but I might be a bit biased.
  22. I'm sure that this list won't be exhaustive, but here's some things you will lose:

    1) A lot of character slots. You'll only be able to unlock 2+whatever slots you've paid to unlock/vet reward unlocks.

    2) SSAs, as you mentioned

    3) Time Manipulation will become locked, as will any characters you've created with it. As will any other new free sets.

    4) Any Incarnate abilities you have and the ability to participate in the Incarnate System

    The last image on that site does kind show just how much underbrush Otis was shooting through to hit the deer. And the fact that Carl was walking around a corner, such that the deer would have been blocking most of him the entire time he was behind it from somebody on the exact opposite side of the deer. And he was wearing a dirty-brown jacket, not exactly screaming "high visibility" to me.
