That's kind of an interesting point.
You don't really see too many heals beyond Tier 3 that aren't in a Defense set.
[/ QUOTE ]
How many ATs don't use their Tier 1,2 & 3 powers at level 50?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think that was even remotely close to my point, sadly.
I was merely commenting on the fact that there aren't a lot of heals (Infact, none I could find in a Support secondary unless we count Regeneration as a heal - which I don't, but I understand where other people can and respectfully disagree on semantic issues; And in this case, only Regeneration Aura qualifies in this regard. Perhaps also Frostworks - Never worked with it, so I have no idea) above the Third Tier of power selection, where it's reasonably accepted that most of these powers are weaker then those at the upper tiers, but because of recharge may or may not be staples or 'filler' anyway.
Case in point - Tier 2 for Controllers is most often a Hold, and Tier 3 most often an Area Immobilize power. Once solid controls are developed, these often blossom up into the most often used powers in the set, for locking down priority targets and keeping mobs clumped for AoEs. While still not as powerful as, say, an Area Disorient or Area Hold, they're up far more often and can also be used as a solid source of damage.
Secondary Case - Brutes are often encouraged to take their first three powers, simply for the fact that they recharge fast and can be thereby used to generate Fury far more rapidly then upper tier attacks (letting those attacks hit harder).
But, at the same time... no heals above third tier. It's a curious choice, in my mind, and absolutely nothing more. -
>> When you get up a bit, I'd love for you to run Competitive Interests (#105556). It can be solo'd fairly well at most levels I've found, but for the most part I really do recommend being at least 20+. Mez-protection helps out a lot, as does having a few extra attacks to beat things into submission.
...Really, I'd just love to read an IC review of it. <.< -

Hah. 3pm yesterday here.
Delicious 24-hour wake cycles. -
I gave up on MMs after finishing my Bot/Storm. She was the closest villain I had to 50, and darnit, I was determined to get her there after putting up with all that crud.
Still, it's a fairly fun build, but I've also heard good things about both Necro/Storm and Merc/Storm.
*/Pain is the new 'in' thing, and while I can't recommend Nin/Pain, Necro/Pain might be alright. Nin/Pain sounds more like masochism to me, considering how darn squishy those dumb ninjas are. Necro/* will eventually end up not needing it (as almost every pet gets a heal), but all of the other stuff can still come in handy.
*/Dark is also good. It doesn't matter what primary. It's aaaall good. -
>_> I was being facetious.
Though, it's really hard to do so in a truly amusing fashion when tired/exhausted. Yay, insomnia. -
Blood Mandate is a goodie, especially if you have Storm Summoning or Force Fields as a secondary (Both get some +Def stacking capability, though obviously FF moreso then Storm - infact, you have to be fairly crazy [imo] to set Storm up for defense for the most part, but every little bit helps; Rad also technically qualifies, with it's -Hit toggle, but that's a seperate topic) for the defensive bonuses, if you're going to go through all the trouble of six-slotting the pet.
If recharge is more your thing, I prefer Expedient Reinforcement - 6.25% recharge and 3% damage can stack up pretty fast, though Call to Arms isn't that bad, either. I just find that as a Controller, your Ranged defense is more important. Blood Mandate and Expedient Reinforcement both give a Ranged Defense boost, though for purely defensive purposes Blood Mandate is probably better (3.75% Ranged/AoE at 6 slots).
You could also go with Frankenslotting, but that really varies a lot depending on which pet you're actually using. I really don't like relying on my pet AI, though, so I usually just damage-slot them out. >> Your mileage may vary, void where prohibited. -
I am thinking the 'g' and 'r' are superfluous, Emgro.

Okay, so a priest, a monk, and a rabbi walk into a bar. The bartender sees them and says "What is this, some kind of joke?"

Then a duck looks up and says, "I really wish it were, because then I wouldn't feel so bad about this bill." ? -

I'm not an unreasonable tyrant. You may have your alloted daily ration of doughnuts.

*Faceplants into coffee.* JAVA~.
Insomnia and some weird, mercurial energy that I get every now and then (I'm sure it's fueled by ADD, and takes awhile to build a proper charge) have decided I no sleep today.
To that end!
I require all of your coffee and doughnuts. Delicious doughnuts, I must eat them. -
Interesting Fact:
Is it better to defeat an opponent gently (knowing you won't inflict any grievous, permanent injury at the expense of inflicting injury), then to allow that crazy, spined fellow with foot long quills shooting out of his body and covered in either flames or the dark chill of the Netherworld do it for you?
What about that guy throwing fireballs the size of basketballs and flame bolts you're sure could start a forest fire (and for all you know have) with reckless abandon? That big, giant, ambling rock dude that you just saw pull up and throw a boulder bigger then your Great Aunt Agnes? And you're sure that other guy is fine, but you really question his tenuous control over that giant, jagged ice-creature he just summoned with the sword like something straight out of a horror movie.
You're at least guaranteed that while it may hurt, you could be saving them from something more terrible. Not all heroes have such a tight grip on their morals and ethics, or Punisher wouldn't have been popular enough to warrant multiple movies. -

Poison for Corrupters plz. I would most enthusiastically enjoy re-rolling my Thugs/Poison MM as a Pistols/Poison Corrupter instead. >>

Advanced targeting reticule and HUD readout display. A bit more low-tech then the ACCUAHUD (one of the other combat aura options), but fairly efficient, and you don't have to worry about some odd light source making it hard to read.
Targeting beam could either be a side effect of the targeting system itself, or an intended effect to provide an easier method of coordinating combat assault maneuvers between other members, or even just as an aesthetic choice.
...I spend far too much time thinking of this stuff, don't I? -
Wonky head crests have been a regular feature of alien monsters since the Tyranids were introduced to Warhammer 40k (insofar as gaming), or if you want another significant moment, the day that Alien released in theatres.
It's so basic sci-fi, you can't even really point fingers at who exactly started it.
EDIT: Not to say that there isn't a link, because there may well be, but there's no real clear, easy way to tell whether there was or not.
EDIT EDIT: Oops, shot myself in the foot there. Alien came out in 1979, whereas the Tyranids were not introduced until the '80's first as Genestealers in Space Hulk, before finally being fleshed out further in 1992 in Rogue Trader.
The more you know! *Muzak.* -

Seconded: Wut.
People only bash Devices if they look at a pure damage angle. My feelings on the matter are that if you're not going to be using your Secondary all that much to start with, why does it matter? If you're not taking Energy to blap or Ice for the added control functions, Devices does as much if not more for you in the long haul.
If just because it has more tricks you can use. The only thing Ice or Energy have over Devices are Build Up and a few damage tools. Fun fact: Devices has just under Ice-level mitigation as well (in Caltrops, Taser, Webnade, and Cloaking Device). Mental is another good choice, but there, you're most likely taking it just for Drain Psyche. Elec and Fire? Hah, what's wrong with you, man? If you're not blapping with those, what are you doing?
(DISCLAIMER: This is just my general opinion on blaster secondaries. The end point is that none of them are exactly awful, and it really depends on what you're doing with your Primary that determines which secondary offers more synergistic options. Assault Rifle, honestly, does do a little bit better with a secondary that offers more mitigation and more damage options, but in that case you're better off taking Ice or Mental over Energy. And AR/Devices can still rock the house.
One of my favorite blasters to have riding shotgun is AR/Dev, and he still manages to impress me every single time with just how epic he really is.) -
I have a controller named 'Thermal Kinetic', and a scrapper named 'iClawed'.
If it makes you happy, who cares if it's corny and/or lame? :3 -
I second Grav, but I thought of /FF instead.
Very nice, all the same! -

...oh lord, the mental images.
Idly, I both do and don't hope we get a Rikti AT at some point. >.>
On the one hand... I absolutely love the Rikti armor style, and Psi-heavy characters faskinate me. Plus, badass Rikti rifle-axe. That's downright metal, I don't care who you are.
On the other... Oh man, those ceratopsidae frill heads. I dunno what they were thinking with those, but I always found them sort of goofy.
Honestly, I'd just be happy with some of the Lost and Rikti armor being proliferated to normal hero characters instead - particularly the Chief Soldier and Chief Mentalist/Mesmerist armors.
