I think the issue here is that you are comparing a control heavy primary versus a rather lite one. Ill/rad still gets Blind, PA, Spectral Terror, Flash, and EM Pulse. This says nothing of the debuffs. You can rotate the AoE holds as need be. ST recharges fast enough to be perma. PA can with investment be made perma. I would say that's a decent amount of control considering the damage output Ill brings.

Really good since BS it lets you target other stuff when building around IOs due to Parry being so good at capping your melee def. Parry will help out a lot as you level since /sd is going to take it's time coming together as you level. It's a very good pairing and it works wonderfully in terms of style. I would make it 1b in your list of builds if you are looking at PvE content. I'm not sure how much of a difference there is between invul and /sd when it's all said and done, but both are going to be really good. Kat is better at DPS so it wins in that regard. Granted, DPS is something you figure out on paper and the actual game isn't played on paper. Headsplitter backed by AAO is going to do a ton of damage though.

Make sure to get Titian Sentinel so you can post your live build into Mid's.

I would want it to be much more of a straight dark melee port.

Quote:Last I knew /regen was best for PvP. For AV soloing, MA/regen will have significant issues compared to Kat/regen since MA lacks a DA type power. The best overall for PvE might go to the Kat/invul.I'm looking to make a new scrapper, and i've come up with. Kat/regen ma/regen bs/sd or kat/invuln. I'm wondering which one would be the best for both PvE and PvP, and which one would be best for AV soloing. I don't want any of you guys' builds, but I have a lot of money, so that shouldn't effect the build I choose. Please help me decide what build to play as.

If you are really feeling lucky, have then work on bases too.

Kin/rad wins in terms of pure synergy. Kin/dark wins for the oil theme. I would just see about coloring /rad to be oil like enough to make it work.

I'll safely assume my being a SG founder helped in dealing with such people. Everybody assumed I would lead all things and I pretty much did. This meant it has been rare I have ever been on a team on Freedom and not been the lead, nor not been playing with friends.

I pretty much use BG mode all of the time due to my aggressive nature in how I play my Bots/traps, but I was just thinking making individual defensive mode binds for each pet might be a quick and dirty fix for this. It's by no means perfect since the pet would stop attacking and start running back to you versus just attacking from a distance, but at least it would alter it's current AI path.

Quote:Ice is a buffer although it's a debuffer as well. I would never kick a Cold defender. I would kick somebody else to make room for a Cold defender if I were a power set elitist. Stupidity happens on all servers. Freedom is my main server for 5+ years and have yet to experience even remotely what gets talked on here about Freedom. Some of the best and most knowledgeable people on the forum play on Freedom as well. Anybody who kicks somebody due to their power sets isn't worth playing with.I joined a team looking for "buffs"...then promptly kicked and told my lvl 46 ice defender is NOT a buffer. Huh? Ice shields and extra hp are not buffs? What kind of buffs are teams looking for then, when they "want a buffer"?
(Keep in mind, this *was* on Freedom) -

Not sure how many of my guys I'm going to incarnate, but Reactive to me is just another option. I also don't feel like going outside of concept even if that means taking the less uber option. I know the boards are home of the min/maxers, but sometimes I have to remind myself there are other options based on how much Reactive is talked about.

Dear playerbase,
Reactive isn't the only option like you treat it as such.
Sincerely,
The Devs. -
The heals can cover where everything else fails and you start to take on psy damage. On a small team, Emp really should be looked at.

Quote:My guess would be WP would benefit the most on a higher up costing build. I'm just not sure it will be that more survivable to make it worth rerolling unless the /sr is already on the lower level side.I'm rerolling my main, a Claws/SR, as either a Claws/WP or Claws/Regen. Like the title says, given the same budget (basically unlimited for anything short of purples or PvP IOs, and a purple set or two is possible currently), which can take the most punishment while still dealing good damage?

Saw it on another site. They said it looked true to the original movie, so here's hoping the rest pans out.

Dark would be my first pick if I rolled a def these days. I really like TA's atypical approach to being a defender, but I just feel like I have to pair it with /a and I would like options so I go Dark first. Traps is a pretty good set that you get to be left alone as well. Traps/dark filled with procs in both sets has potential.

Quote:While post patch numbers will get altered, I will point out that even if there is a farming rate difference in the top end builds it's small in the grand scheme of things. One build generates 3-3.5 in a minute. One does it at 2.8-3.3 in a minute. Both are cranking out farms at a brisk pace.Prior to Tuesday's patch, I clocked my Plant/Storm at a hair over 3M inf/min in a fire ambush farm in AE @ +4/x8/with bosses. I have not seen any Fire/Kin numbers for comparison, but the top-end SS/FA brute numbers were around 3.0 - 3.5 M inf/min.
Since the patch, my best has been 1.9 M inf/min. I definitely can't handle +4 ambushes with bosses anymore. -
MA/sr is more stylistic synergy versus actual synergy between the sets. It's as classic of a pairing as this game has though.
EDIT: For BS, BS/dark with be a tough scrapper due to a number of mitigation tools even if on the end heavy side. Getting IOs and being incarnate only adds to the build. BS/elec would be good as well. High resist, end management, and +recharge to help with BS's slower recharges.
