Quote:Exclamation: Stop! So, I was playing a level 10 toon in Ae Building in Cap and received a reverse team tell. I figured why not. The player was level 10 in Mercy. I asked him to come to Cap. When he finally got to Cap via Port Oakes (new player, he didn't know about the helicopter service), he said, "You got all the way there, wow!"
I got a mite suspiscious and asked, "You do have your Raptor Pack for flying, right?"
New Player, "No, what's that?"
Me, "Stop, head back to Port Oakes, I will meet you there."
I then took him through the 3 radio missions, giving bits of advice, and just as we got the bank mission (for Atlas Park, yay), he said he had to log off. I was sad to see him go because we were at the point I was trying to get him his Raptor Pack and I gave a couple of pieces of information.
Me, "Ok, when you do the bank mission, destroy everything that is not purple on the way and stop when you see a Longbow say, "Freeze."
I am hoping he was ok, but that was a bit of fun, teaching someone about the game.

Quote:Enabling: Human speech functionYou my good sir are a pain in the *freem!* to read

The tool was faulty alright, no doubt about it, they just should have pulled something else in the meantime though instead of leave it open. They should have cut off the SSK in there, dropped tickets altogether, or best of all perhaps, drop inf gain entirely until it was as it is now. But it was left as is.
As for the rapid experience, if the character went from naught to fifty in six hours, yeah. That's pretty fast. Unless we're talking about cars.
But those people that actually stood there for hours on end trying to get into a team, they spent more than 6 hours... in a way... and slipped through the holes in the net. Still, while hobbled, they did get that XP in about 6 hours. They just took longer to use those 6 hours..
This is all assuming the Devs can re-code/fix stuff at the snap of their fingers. We, as outsiders, have no reliable way of knowing just how hard it is to fix stuff like that. Also, it wouldn't immediately be apparent that it was an exploit, not until people actually exploited it. Then, when they did, it became en masse. It then became apparent, but it takes time to fix anything. During which time, it only escalated, as people presumably tried to cram in as much PL'ing as they could (for those who wanted to) and/or farming (again for those who wanted to. And no, I'm not saying farming is a bad thing here, I'm just saying it happened)

Now, none of this thread makes much sense to me...For someone who plays a lot of tech characters I'm really, REALLY un-tech-literate ^^;
Also looking at a new PC. An actual desktop. My laptop can run CoX on minimum settings fairly capably, but thats kind of...meh.
I also do a lot of Photoshop stuff, (Read Did, still need to get my hands on a new version) and am on a Digital Animation Degree.
Also means a student budget, although I can probably get a bit of support there at any rate.
Meshcomputers seem to do some good rigs, and my cousin got one there for about 500 squids that outperforms something twice the price on most sites like Dell.
Any help/advice out there? -

Quote:Statement: UntrueOkay, in all fairness.. there was no exploiting in levelling this fast. The tool released gave the tools to make missions that people could then use to level insanely fast. So... to a degree I agree with Nethergoat. There was no exploiting. Not in that respect. And no, you can not call an MA n00b an exploiter, they're basically overpowered level 1 characters. Sadly enough..
Like I said, in that respect there was no exploiting. There was in another way however and I think that may be why some people get so worked up every time the PL's in MA get mentioned.
I feel that those people that would start a team on their 50's and pull in a bunch of people ONLY to get 8-person spawns so THEY could grab a lot of cash and tickets were exploiting.
Not on the game. As I said, that's now history and was just a tool that allowed insane missions to be created.
The exploiting here was the exploiting of new players, making them into AE n00bz, MA neWbz or whatever name you wish to give.
The saddest thing though is that someone who is new to the game already has more knowledge than the others with at least one 50 (judging from the 40 WS).
Reason: Devs considered the Rapid Exp: Exploitative
Otherwise: Why changed it?
Also: Why STATE that they believed: It was broken?

Quote:Stone is seriously offputting. At least for me. Was entertaining the idea of a stone tank, or brute, right until I fired up Mids, and remembered just why I deleted the last two I tried to make.I love my granite tanker...
I made her completely based on the concept of being a little girl who turns into a massive armor.
Now if the character isn't massive and keep tiny and just with overlay of rocks, it would be far enough if the character can jump... and then they will add more penalities or reduce the bonuses, and then stone wouldn't be like it was now.
Bleh.. I am attached to my granite >.<
It's really, really horrible.
I'm sure it's fine, yes, IF you can get to 50 and be IO'd to glory. ANY AT and set can be great if they are at 50 with all the shinies.
That, and looking like a DE...eh. I'll stick to cobbling something together using Super Science size edit and big armour stuff =S
If something that can keep everyone happy(ish) can be done, all the better.

Since i16 has hit live, there seems to be waves of blind sg/team invites again! Now whether this is good or bad i'll leave to you!
On a similar note, i had my search comment a few days ago saying "not lft sorry". This is what happened [obviously not exact words]
Player A: Hi there want to join us? Doing radio missions in kings.
Me: No thanks im semi-afk so wouldnt be much use but ty anyway.
Player A: Ah sorry just noticed your search comment, sorry for the PM.
When a player actually says sorry for a slight mistake like that, they instantly get some form of positive rep in my eyes. -
Quote:I Call: Absolute B.SExploiter is an insult. Applied to a stranger in the context of an MA Baby whine the meaning isn't hard to grasp.
If you meant it in a happy funtime casual friends jokey way, that part got lost somewhere between your brain and the keyboard.
You aren't a mindreader, sorry. You don't know how that guy got his kheldian.
It isn't like level 50 is some tremendous grind any more. "regular" PL'ers can do it in short order with no 'exploits' required.
It is funny how you claim you didn't insult anyone, then in the next paragraph heatedly defend your insult.

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with people who levelled from 1-50 when they were new using MA. Mistakes happen, ones the Devs corrected, things can carry on and all that. Its done and dusted.
That ISN'T, afaik, the issue here.
Ignorrance is one thing, but that, frankly, isn't ignorance. Thats just rampant moronism and base stupidity. And yes, it could have come from anyone, not just because they were AE levelled (and if they had no defeat badges, no exploration or whatnot, that leaves very few options now)
And also, what Bill Z said.

If we could have it without the scatter effect, that would be nice, but I don't see how. They could gives us MM's more control over when our pets use their powers, but that would be very difficult i'm betting. Like let us tell them when exactly to use which power..
Also, I would say that act of standing in one place no matter what goes on around them does a very good job of distinguishing them from other players

I tend to thoroughly enjoy teams with new players, most of whom just don't quite know where is where and what does what. So long as people are willing to learn, and can manage a laugh when stuff goes wrong (Multiple faceplants on a Frosty/Atta mission, for example) then things run really, really well.
If you run into a self opinionated little child who thinks they can do what they want, and has no intention of taking advice, well...whooole different ballgame.

Quote:Realisation: Easy Mode request
I've been advocating lowering it to a much less annoying amount.
Short term click buffs suck. I get yelled at constantly that I'm not speed boosting people. I'd trade recharge enhancements on those powers for duration increasers in a heart-beat just so I'd be clicking less often. But the developers only feel that mezzing should get that bonus.
Though I wonder how hard a 'buff duration increase' enhancement would be to code?
I play (almost exclusively these days) scrappers and brutes because they don't get mezzed often.
Why play a game (or even have part of a game) that is just annoying?
