Here is a very long discussion of the topic:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...ght=vet+reward
I don't think we need to repeat all these arguments again. -
Besides using terrain to your advantage, remember that *you* are also mobile.
If your anchor closes on you and the others stay at range, take the fight to those others by closing with them. Yes, that will aggro them on you, but now they are all in the debuff, because your original anchor has followed you over to them.
Take out the other baddies, then your anchor last. -
Quote:^^^Very expensive common salvage has its advantages. My lowbies frequently finance their early DO or SO buys by selling the Luck Charms that dropped when they were beating up Hellions in AP.
This.
My new lowbie alts would be very sad pandas if someone took away their income from overly expensive Common Arcane Savages.
I also like the flavor that varying salvage gives to the inventions system. I mean, it makes perfect sense that an Accuracy IO takes some Luck from a Luck Charm and some help from a Boresight to focus your aim to make a better shot, doesn't it?
Switching to OP's system would be bland & boring. "I combine two White thingies to make a <generic IO>". At that point, since every basic Generic IO would have the same recipe, then why not eliminate the different IOs as well - why keep Accuracy and Damage Resistance as separate enhancements? Making a single Generic IO that could be anything would be the next "logical" step. -
Quote:Reference back to own post on prior page (3?) detailing every failing said game has and how City is much superior.Asks for level cap increase to confirm OP's opinion.
Mentioning of other MMO and how it has higher levels.
Gently answers noob question, well aware the answer will be lost in piles of other dreck engendered by this thread. -
Quote:Huzzah! Attack Walrus AT confirmed for GR!
"Did I need to steal an attack walrus in order to win my freedom from that government research facility? No. But at some point we all must chose between what is right and what is awesome."
P.S. I really, really want an Attack Walrus! -
Expressing amazement that the thread is still continuing.
Threadjack back to pix of cute kitties, LOLOL. -

City of Villains launched Halloween weekend in 2005.
Following their purchase of the IP, NCSoft gave all subscribed accounts access to both City of Heroes and City of Villains in November 2007.
That's 2 years - not my definition of "shortly", but I guess it might be shortly if we think in terms of geologic time. -
One word reply preceded by a slash, harkening back to a departed poster, which became a much-abused term for "no".

Quote:Umm, excuse me, but the Mirror Universe concept where the hero's counterpart in now eeeevil was old when classic Star Trek did the episode "Mirror, Mirror" in 1967. That franchise used the same trope in pretty much all the later Star Trek series. Why not expand the cannon-- add something new to the game.
As far as your remakrs about "copying", obviously the COX team doesn't have a problem with that. The whole "Going Rogue" expansion is basically ripping off of the "Destiny's Hand" arc on JLA or the Justice Lords episodes of the TV series. Marvel also did a similar thing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_Lords
So lets not act like ripping off an idea from another comic IP is a bad thing.
That's where we got the image of the "goatee <character name>" as representing the mirror universe, because Spock had a goatee in the mirror universe.
Justice Lords was "ripping off" any number of older IPs (to use your terms, although it's certainly not copyrighted anywhere I know of). -
Quote:Response in terms that echo petitionable attack (sure to get me edited or deleted by Mod8) stating that poster is clearly delusional (using folksy phrases including reference to the excrement of a flying mouse).Rude, possibly petitionable personal attack with no attempt to address Ad Astra's experiences in other game.
Accusation that player did not really play other game, or wasn't playing correctly. References to carebears and inference that player has weak skin. Reference to massive popluarity of other game.
Poster asserts that the reason he plays this game is because of the similarities it has with other game, but only lists the attributes that actually make it DIFFERENT. Completely fails to see the irony.
Welcome to my Ignore List, Poster! -
Quote:Assertion that I also played that game and found it severely lacking.Admission that poster actually prefers that game, and thinks it is far superior to this one. Suggests that for this game to succeed, it obviously needs to become more like other game. Poster is not suggesting that CoH should learn from that game, because that would imply that the other game had both positive and negative attributes--he assumes all attributes of the other game are positive. He simply wants to turn this game into a smaller, carbon copy of the other game, warts and all. Or this game will die.
Long paragraphs dissecting every flaw in Night Elf Mohawk game, pointing out clear superiority of City franchise.
Repeating suggestion that poster should go back to it if he finds it so superior, why is he "wasting" money/time here? -
Quote:Snarky superior-sounding comment, correcting bad grammar & spelling of entire post.Rude, obscene suggestion about what Ad Astra can do wif hiz sok pupet. Pur grammr continues, but it becomz clear taht poster doesn't konw who Jack Emmert iz. makes reference to all the ppl who arnt posting but must agree wif him.
Suggestion that this quoted poster should go back to that game with the Night Elf Mohawks. -
Quote:Accusation that Solicio is obviously a sock puppet of OP.LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERS AND EXCLAMATION POINTS!!! INSISTANCE THAT IF THIS RANT ISN'T TAKEN SERIOUSLY, POSTER WILL QUIT THE GAME!!!! rest of post has no punctuation or page breaks wif okaszional mispehlingz. poster actually takes the time to admit this but not actually fix it. because fixing it would compromize his odd principles wich somehow insist that using or requesting prohper english iz a sign of elitism rather tahn commun courtesi and basik communication skilz. posters point iz mainly lost becauz ppl haf to balance the fact that in additon to his views, teh poster also bileeves stoopidity and ignoranc iz virtues. poster reiterates teh need for hiz point to be takken seriouzly.
Is that you, Jack? -
Attack based on Post Count, Reg Date and/or Both!
Adds another cry of "elitism". -
Threadjack picking up on small insignificant piece of OP.

Quote:I think you may have different definitions of the word "content". I'm pretty sure Sam is using it as "more stories, more TF/SFs, possibly new zones" - which is how I'm defining content. And that content need not be written so that you have to be level 50+ to do it. Hopefully it will be spread out throughout the existing levels of the game.Sam, you may have felt you argued against what I was saying succesfully, but all I saw was you taking a very roundabout way of agreeing.
The devs aren't going to add another 10 levels of content. They decided this before CoV came out, as I recall, and said something to the effect that they only added Grandville so CoV would match CoH.
They will add systems, like another power enhancement scheme, but they're not adding content.
That doesn't seem to be your definition of content, Konshu, so I'm wondering where you see the difference? -
It's really not that hard to get to the SC Icon on a low level - IF you understand aggro ranges and keep your eyes open. The spawns are usually in the exact same places every time, so just avoid them.
Typically, I am running a lowbie across SC to get to the train to go see Annah and turn in salvage to get the extra costume. Then I run across the northern end of SC to get to Icon. If I'm feeling ambitious, I then run back to the AP entrance, but if I'm being lazy, I suicide and then only have to run from the hospital.
Of course, if I'm just looking to change a costume and not open another slot - I use the IP tailor cutting thru King's Row.
I keep forgetting about Trina in the D. -
OP - are you suggesting that any character (*hate* the word "toon", I'm not Bugs Bunny) would be automatically added to your SG?
If that is the case, then "no thanks". I have some servers where my alts are in different SGs for a reason and making them go into one SG automatically will mess that up.
Also - your idea kinda assumes that people have solo SGs for only their alts, which isn't always the case. Larger SGs with multiple players would not want every alt added to the SG automatically because they could quickly reach the cap on members. Those larger SGs alao frequently have alt-SGs to handle overflow, so determining which SG the character would automatically go into could be bothersome.
On the other hand, if you are asking for an OPTION to make it easier to add alts to the small SG, I would say "yes, please".
I can't work out what would be the best mechanic to do it though. Someone else brought up the problem of spam invites if email SG invites were added.
I'm just trying to define & refine the OP's idea, which was sketchy on details. -
I don't have any villains on Infinity (they are all over on Triumph), so I wouldn't be joining any of the SFs except for those that are coop (unless you wanted to limit them only to villains.
It's not a binary choice, though. If there was interest, you could run both, or perhaps as alternating weekends.
Have fun, though! -
Quote:Try this experiment -Well it seems more complicated than I originally thought, but they already have got jetpack animations and models in the game which as far as I can tell work fine on both characters and npcs, I am simply surprised that they didn't expand on it a little bit (which surely the devs can do with their godly powers) ages ago and simply make it so for example the Raptor pack could be a permanent costume choice.
Make a character using the Huge body type, maxxing out all the sliders. Level the character up to the point of getting a Raptor Pack from the Mayhem Safeguard. See how the pack embeds itself into the character's back?
Now make a character using the Female body type, pushing the sliders the other direction to make the tiniest character possible. Level her up to getting the Raptor Pack. See how the pack stands out from her body as she moves around using it?
Move either character around while flying, firing off various attacks - see how the pack really doesn't move in a consistently logical way in response to that?
They really don't have character animations done to cover all the points Steampunkette mentioned. -
Quote:Actually LISAR - for the strict vegetarian, putting beef on top of the rice *DOES* ruin in and make it absolutely unplalatable and inedible.Putting beef on rice doesn't ruin the rice it just makes it unappealing to vegetarians.
If PvP ruined EQ wouldn't have remained a viable property for almost 11 years.
Clearly from a realistic stand point you are delusional.
Have a nice day. XOXO
So, for P_P, adding PvP to her CoH makes it unpalatable. Her choice and her opinion, which she is tating pretty clearly as "her opinion".
Whether PvP works well or not in other games really has no bearing on her opinion of PvP in this game. -
Welcome to the forums, falloutsurvivor!
Your suggestion comes up rather frequently, and the answer is generally what you see in this thread so far. Checking the other thread linked by tanstaafl lists a few more arguments why not.
I agree with Hyperstrike & DumpleBerry and the rest - NO. -
Except maybe he should be taller. It's kinda embarassing that most of the Player Characters loom over him when starting the STF.
In fact, they all should be taller, except for Blue Steel, because I think part of his awesomeness stems from "Short Man Syndrome".
