  1. If a tree falls is an forest, does the guy watching the game remember every hearing it?

    ---

If trees could scream would we be so cavalier in chopping them down? Maybe so, if they screamed all the time for no reason.

What do you do once you have a level 50 with all purple IO sets in every power?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your other alts call him 'Sugar Daddy.'

    I15

Let that thread be that thread else you'll be 8locked.
  4. Kismet is a 120sec procker. Works exactly like the Stealth IOs do.

I tested it myself in game, the buff stays on for 2 minutes after a click power activates, then goes away.
  5. Update Windows.

    Update Graphics driver.

    Update sound driver.

Go to manufacturer's website and see if there are updated drivers for your motherboard chipset/CPU.

    Hard Drive cleaning ====

Also, you're starting to get close to a full drive on which CoH is installed.

    1. Go to control panel and then Add/Remove Programs and get rid of any programs you don't need any more.

    2. Go into Windows Explorer (not the Internet Explorer) and right click on your E: drive and chose Properties. Under the General Tab, you'll see a button for Disk Cleanup, run it and get rid of deleted (recycle bin) and temp files.

    3. Under the General Tab, make sure Indexing is not selected. Unless you need to do quick searches of your documents on a regular basis, you don't need this. It may take a while to propagate the un-indexing to all the sub-folders.

    4. Go to the Tools Tab and click on the defrag button. Run the defragger. It may take an hour or two to defrag. Make sure the computer doesn't power down during it (you'll find power options where you change the screen saver -- right click on desktop...).

    GUI Questions

When I got my Vista laptop shortly after Vista came out and everyone complained that their cursor was invisible, it was invisible to me, too, except in Windowed mode.

Windowed mode on widescreens will stretch any 2D screen or the 2D GUI (rarely even noticeable), but it will not stretch the 3D game. You'll wind up seeing more left to right than top to bottom.

Wired has a new article that... well.. blasts the MA system and suggests that the recent changes will cause players to leave.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reread the article. The author is on the side of management and acknowledges that Farming is a result of people's desire for shortcuts and giving them free reign is a bad idea, at least if you want your game to continue and not become a flash in the pan as people burn out on farms and completely maxed out toons.

It acknowledges some player's fears that they don't know where the line is (a most disingenuous statement... people know that leveling to 50 in one day is exploitive) and then explains the bind the management is in if they ever clearly delineate a line.

Your characterization that the article "blasts" the MA system is way off.

Running in Windowed mode on a standard resolution should make it work properly, but then you'd see your desktop on the sides while you are playing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not if you maximize the window. Then you'd only be left with the bar on top, which can be narrowed even further though the desktop options.
  9. Not to mention the a Threat Level reduction of -1 for squishies. And not having to remember to turn it back on again before the next spawn and accidentally taking the alpha strike.

Well I did something a little more creative and changed my Color to Full red in the options and then did an /optionsave to find out what it was, and the result was: 260140ff

Funny thing is that when I use that in the bind, it comes out Full Blue instead..
Then I did another /optionsave and the result was: 3f82c, which isn't even 8 digits. lol

Apparently the input for the bind is decimal, and then converts to hex.

To test this even further.. I took a standard RED value: FF0000 and converted it to decimal: 16711680 and used that in the bind.
    Result was bright green. ROFL

So I tried the 8 digit hex: ff0000ff (red with no transparency?)
    Decimal: 4278190335
    Bind resulted in Sky Blue
I tried a new /optionsave, and it showed the value to be 7fffffff.

    I'm really clueless now! lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tried changing the settings in the options.txt directly, saved the change, then loaded into the game and it still didn't work as expected. It should work as described here:

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Chat_Bubble_Customization

    Only with the /optionset command.
  11. I've just played with it myself and my conclusion is: it's broke.

    Hailing pohsyb...
  12. In the options.txt file, they're stored as simple eight character hex. Maybe only the background color can be made clear.

Other powers you have, can raise the percentage of successful usage of temp powers, like Darkest night which lowers an enemy's ability to resist damage, among other things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean Tar Patch (scroll down to Tar) which has a 30% Resist Damage Debuff (unenhanceable).

Darkest Night reduces the amount Damage the foes inflicts upon you (-37.5% for critters, -50% v. Players (unenhanceable)).
  14. Well, the mechanical reason of delaying capes to level 20 came about because capes were added after the game launch. It seems to me, in my opinion, that they came up with a poor introduction of capes with an in-game reason of Hero-1 and the omega team sacrifice. So they basically said to players, "The reason your toons didn't have capes, but do now is that capes were banned in the game world as a sign of mourning and respect for the Omega Team." OK, a sign of mourning. But when that mourning was over, they allowed capes... but only for security level 20 and higher. Which is really odd.

It would be like banning US flag lapel pins after 9/11 as a sign of mourning. And then when they allowed the pins again, only those in the government of the rank of governor or senator or higher could wear them. That suggestion would be roundly mocked in the real world. And yet, the cape back story is accepted in the game...

Even though there are half capes from level 1...

Even though there are magic and valkyrie capes from level 1...

Even though villains have to abide by the same rule even though they don't give a carp and aren't under Paragon City's jurisdiction...

Even though the Omega team has returned.

Perhaps since we have hints that the Omega Team time capsule is going to play a role in the story if I15, the Devs will do away with the cape mission and allow capes from level 1.

I wonder what reason they'll give that Praetorians can't have capes until level 20?

My favorite is: "Boy, that sun is hot."

Yes. Yes it is. A giant ball of nuclear fusion does tend to warm up a bit.
  16. Yes, the Acc/ToHit part. It helps with Sands of Mu, Nem Staff, Black Wand, and GS Axe which also 'resists buffs'.
  17. No power ignores Global +ToHit or Global +ACC if they're currently active.

Self Destruction's final ToHit is affected by Yellows. If one doubts this, then test it in game by checking your ToHit Roll v. a specific foe with and without Yellows as you use Self Destruction on them. I did when the power first became available and Yellows changed the ToHit Roll.

I do know that specifically calling them out on the forums is against the rules, so don't do that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That rule is long gone.

You can't *demand* a Dev respond or be abusive to them, but you can 'call' for one as long as you know they don't have to answer and don't throw a fit if they don't.
  19. It uses 8 characters. The first six are the usual RGB, the last two are the alpha channel that determines how opaque/invisible it is with ff being solid and 00 being completely transparent.

However, as I'm testing this to make sure I'm correct, I can't seem to change my chat balloon color either with the sliders or with the optionset command.
