Power suppression... thingy.
Movement suppression doesn't necessarily make it detrimental to use a travel power in combat, it just slows you down. For super speed, it basically brings you down to base running speed. So you might as well turn it off, unless you really need it up to travel between spawns.

If you attack with a travel power active and try to move immediately afterward you will be suppressed. with Super Speed on, you will move at normal running speed until the suppression effect wears off.

Yes, for a few seconds after each attack your friend would have SS suppressed. I've tried it on my elec blaster and find it very annoying.
It's kind of like being speed boosted without warning, you run really fast, shoot and then go really slow until the suppression ends, then you go really fast again. I guess if you get used to it you could anticipate and be ready for it. You can also get around it by jumping in combat instead of running.
Having a travel power active while fighting is going to drain your endurance more, yes (by having increased endurance consumption). That's not really power suppression though... maybe you meant Travel Suppression? That prevents you from fleeing a fight really fast within a certain period of time. That makes some people say it's pointless having it active because all it does is eat up Endurance.
Some characters have high enough recovery, or you can get enough recovery buffs so that it doesnt matter to some people though, which is probably the case here.
Ahhh... and here I was, ready to tell her "the forum experts have insured me that you have a 20% accuracy penalty when you SS in battle so turn it off or I'll boot you faster than you can run with that travel power on!"
...
I play with her every night and she's a really close friend, I wouldn't really boot her, but I would be making fun of her a lot :P

There once was an accuracy penalty on superspeed, but that was shortlived and a long time ago. They changed it to the suppression that the other posters explained above.

Yep. As I recall correctly it was the first early attempt at stopping people from trying to attack something and speed away before it could respond. And it was intended to make it more on par with flight which originally had an accuracy penalty associated with it.
Needless to say, that change didn't go over very well and was quickly removed in favor of suppression. Which also didn't go over very well, but it didn't make nearly as many people angry as the accuracy penalty did. So here we are.
despite the speed supresion, there is the +stealth factor of SS to consider, which may be helping her more then having SS on in a fight is hurting. just a thought.
Oh yeah, that was the time that girl got her whatchamacallit stuck in that guys dooblickitz and then what his name did that thing with the lizards and it cleared right up.
screw your joke, i want "FREEM"
Not to mention the a Threat Level reduction of -1 for squishies. And not having to remember to turn it back on again before the next spawn and accidentally taking the alpha strike.

Yesterday evening, I was playing with my friends and one of them, an AR blaster, kept fighting with super speed turned on. She kept insisting that her end bar could sustain it no problem. I know for a fact that it's entirely possible, my Sonic/MM blaster doesn't even have stamina and she doesn't ever run out of End.
However, I seem to recall somewhere that there was something about suppression or what have you, made it detrimental to use a travel power while fighting.
Have I been dreaming this or is there some truth behind this?
Thanks.
