Give it 'til May. Someone'll bring up the whole anniversary badge "issue" all over again.
Still, kudos to the Devs for at least linking this gift to something 5th-themed.
(Now, how about giving people who had the anniversary badges AND the Kahn/Barracuda badges use the mini MekMan in gladiator matches...) -
Lothic, don't read this.
84th month vet badge, "Loyal Customer", is now live.
Quote:Auctionhouse code works fine; no recharge, pulls up like AETablet does, just no emote (yet). The additional server slot adds did NOT award, however, that's still TBA, looks like. You do get 7 gift merits.Badge Text: For 7 years in City of Heroes you will be able to remote access the Auction Houses with the slash command /auctionhouse and gain an additional Character Slot.
(Hrm. I got a bugged server slot add by accident earlier this month, around the time I used to get the vet award... wonder if that awarded early...?) -
Quote:This was my big weakness with the last map: Directional confusion. IMO, having the two Durays standing atop the skyway... waaay to the north... with no idea where to go... was confusion part one. Part two is exiting the collapsed area. And yes, the map issues on that final map confused the heck out of me. I felt so stupid cause I could not find me way out of the hospital/underground

I sent up a suggestion to get a waypoint onto that sewer exit to the surface so it shows up on the map, or if they don't want to do that, put some emergency police beacons around the sewer exit so it's visible from a distance. Same thing with Duray: He's got troops up there on that platform. Drop a Raider-design troop carrier onto the skyway so it's obvious where the heck it is, even from a good distance. It's an invasion, right? Invade RIGHT.

Goes faster than you think. The only way you really lose out is if you only do the one WST (where you get the Notice drop), and none following that for the remainder of the week.

Extremely helpful, Seigi, thank you!

I'll be regrettably unavailable this weekend due to a NYC run. GL to everyone on this!

Site itself is busted. Gamingangels.com has a placeholder up with some oddly nifty screenshots.

I call BS on whoever kicked you off. You'd make the perfect bodyguard for them during the Marauder fight. Take care of all the mobs attacking the squishies, since everyone ELSE is busy shooting at Marauder.

Quote:This is a good TF, btw. You guys'll dig it.I got 3 tips today...with no success unlocking the TF...I'll try again after tonight's respec trial.
BTW, it's the new SF that requires the unlock, not this one. This TF is like any other: Go to IP, talk to the Admiral, shove off, ya swabbies. -
Giving an opinion here.
1. Signees here agree to a Master team run, so IMO they should ALWAYS take priority over anyone else. IF we need to fill, then we go to our Friends network, i.e., people we know and trust not to be idiots. Last in line should be the random player in broadcast. PUGs may yes things to death, but in the end, there's no accountability for their actions. Master teams can't risk that without taking every alternative beforehand.
Having said that, I've had wonderful Master teams with PUGs (most failed, my most recent one actually succeeded). But you DO open the door to the risk that, because someone wants to be done 10 minutes earlier, they'll just fling a grenade to start the non-Master mentality.
2. With that in mind, future sign-ups should be done with the agreement that, if the Master run is ruined SPECIFICALLY due to griefing, everyone quits out for a quick reform. Why should the griefer be rewarded with the trial reward, at everyone else's expense? Do this often enough, and they'll get bored/frustrated enough to not do it again. The first two phases go fast enough anyway.
3. Accidents happen, even on Master teams (as anyone can tell you about the fastest Master LGTF failure on record... what was it, six seconds, my fault?...). If you screw up, (wo)man up and say so. So long as I'm getting consistent performance on a team, I won't chide you if you have the occasional goof. Right now the trials are a learning experience for everyone. NOW is the time to screw up and learn from the errors. But if you do, take the lumps, learn, and move on. If you blame other people for your errors, you do everyone a disservice.
I'm really sorry this run didn't work out for everyone who took the time to show up and participate. Don't let this discourage you; just learn from it, and be more zero tolerance with the idiots. -
Update: I just got this badge earlier today, so if someone who wants the badge is currently on the alt list and wants in, I'll give up the seat for them. If not, I'll be happy to help everyone with Doc T to try to ensure the win.

Whew.
Finally got this beast. What a cardio workout. Thanks to @PF, @Maxwell Blast, and all the others on-team for the seriously smooth win! -
-
Grats to my old EG buddies here.
My gang'll be trying for this one again tonight, wish us the luck and skill you guys had for getting this DONE! Cheers!

I'll be there with bells and whistles on Supreme Soviet.

PERC: Thanks for a great contest idea.

For my entry, I'd like to submit the first time my main villain, a Cold War-era robotics genius, was approached by an old adversary, a modern-day sorcerer, bearing woeful tidings.. Their coming together, after all these years, burying their tensions and distrust to face a grim and implacable foe, was a turning point in both of their character developments.
I hope you enjoy.
============================
Karl Svorsky's lecherous grin widens as Isabelle slides her way to him on one of the Golden Giza's open air terraces. He sets down his snifter of Napoleon Armagnac, and brushes the small but bright brass-and-enamel hammer and sickle on his lapel. Even in the night sky of St. Martial, its ability to capture the scantest reflection and shine was a pride of his.
"Padrone Soviet," she says breathlessly. Those whalebone corsets the Carnival damsels wear always has that effect on their women, Karl mused.
"Da, my pet?"
Isabelle's eyes, shining through the white porcelain mask, flinched slightly. This was unusual for her. "I... I bear a message from a common enemy. He said... you would know it for what it was. With the Padrone's permission, may I deliver it?"
Karl frowns, his white brows angling down suspiciously. Isabelle has only ever been... giving... of her attentions to him, and had never betrayed a suspicion or secret - even the ones he dropped to test her. Still...
His fingers dance on his wristpad. A split second later, half a dozen of his best mechanized warriors fall from the sky with a metallic thud, unfolding and unfolding like some monstrous paper toy. Eyes glowing a steady, dull red, they take up defensive positions around him, and stand at attention.
"-=Orders, Master?=-"
"Guard me. You may proceed, Isabelle."
Isabelle sighs, fluttering slightly at the prospect of facing his infantry. She nods, and her eyes close. She begins, subtly, to sway.
Karl moans silently. Oh, no. It's him.
On Isabelle's blank mask, a face takes form. A thin face; crisp goatee; arching eyebrows; those damned blue glasses. Isabelle's body hangs limply, as if that ghostly face were the only thing holding her up. The face pans around a bit, and catches Karl's eyes. The face turns to stare at Karl directly.
"Karl Svorsky. Code name, Supreme Soviet."
Karl shuts his eyes, rubbing them with his fingers. Well, this spoils the entire night. "Ivan Turgenev. What do you want?"
The spectral eyes appraise him through those hazy, blue-lensed glasses. After a moment, they narrow, and the face speaks. "The Rikti march to war once more."
Karl barks a laugh out loud. "Are you mad? They wouldn't dare."
Isabelle's hand raises limply, to point towards Karl's face. A glow suffuses her hand, forming an arcane sigil that dimmed when you stared at it, but glowed brighter when you glanced away.
"Learn, Supreme Soviet."
The sigil leaps from Isabelle's fingers, and brands itself on Karl's mind.
"-=Open fire.=-"
Amidst the racuous roar of laserfire and napalm scorching the evening air, Karl sees what Dr. Turgenev wants him to see, understands what Ivan wants him to understand: Ranks upon ranks of Rikti infantry, armored and armed, standing in precise formation on an alien plateau. Before them, a world gate thrums slowly, glowing like a crack peering into Hell itself. Airborne destroyers, combat champions, wicked weaponry our world has not seen in years, all pointed towards that gate.
Towards Earth.
"The Second Rikti War is upon us, Supreme Soviet...
"And you owe me."
Those were the last words spoken by the spectral face on Isabelle's mask. Its white porcelain was marred by a violent spray of blood and gore, stemming from where her torso once was. The mask hung there a moment more, holding the remnants of Isabelle's very dead face behind it. Then, like a fallen star, it drops silently into the gore and bloodpool beneath it.
Karl rubs his eyes, remembering it all. He whispers to himself, "'And you owe me...'"
He sighs. "Oh, дерьмо."

Damn late night prose. I can barely get a paragraph through before my morning coffee. I'll give this a read later today when I'm a touch more coherent.

As a reference, Sr. Designer Baryonyx posted this Q&A article breaking down how the encounter is SUPPOSED to run. Seems to me it's easier to try to get Master now in one shot, than do it in three separate runs. Yesterday's hotfix did NOT change the encounter yet, so we can still run this as previously planned.
Quoting the relevant portions of how the encounter is designed to run below. This is NOT currently live, but will be as soon as they "fix" it.
Badges
There have been a few questions about the Well-Stocked, Antacid and Lambda Looter badges and how they are acquired. The hints for these particular badges don't go far enough in explaining the details. Theres additional confusion due to a bug where one of the badges is improperly awarding the other two. Both of these issues will be rectified soon, but until then here's a quick guide on how these badges are intended to work so you can be prepared when the bug is fixed:- If your league is working on the Antacid or Well-Stocked badges, the objectives are:
- The league gathers all 10 of one type of power without acquiring any of the other. The league can enter the other area, but cannot actually destroy any of the power-granting targets there.
- After the Sabotage phase, the league does not use any of the gathered powers.
- Also, during the final battle, the league does not make use of the Shipments to acquire any powers.
- More succinctly: the league gathers all the powers in one area only within 5 minutes and then completes the event without using any of the gathered powers.
- If your league is working on the Lambda Looter Badge, the objectives are:
- The league gathers all powers during the Sabotage phase (all 10 Acids and all 10 Grenades).
- After the Sabotage phase, the league does not use any of the gathered powers.
- Also, during the final battle, the league does not make use of the Shipments to acquire any powers.
- More succinctly: the league gathers all the powers in one area within 15 minutes and then completes the event without using any of the gathered powers.
- If the league gathers one of both powers, the intention is that your league can only attempt the Lambda Looter badge. The Antacid and Well-Stocked badges are actually the harder pair of the three, since both have the same basic requirements of Lambda Looter, but also feature an additional time pressure of gathering 10 powers in one area within 5 minutes.
- If your league is working on the Antacid or Well-Stocked badges, the objectives are:
-
*see above, guess Leo's not as lazy as I thought*

Quote:Could be. I know that, singly, the individual badges are not awarding; and from the few people who got it, they said they got all three at the same time, which would indicate to me that the various requirements were not exclusive of one another, unlike what that support article shows. My assumption is that the support article isn't worded properly to clearly indicate the requirements for the badge. On a side note, the Support Article lists slightly different requirements as well:
The main difference being the two badges are asking us to get one power OR the other, not both. That could be why some people are running into issues with these badges to begin with.
To be more clear, it's a difference of:
- Support Article: Get 10 of X, get 0 of Y, to earn Z badge.
- Experience: Get 10 of X to earn Z badge.
I could be wrong on that, but I haven't been in a win-encounter yet to personally verify the circumstances. Beef_Cake or Kotchie might be a better resource.
EDIT: Looks like the bugged status of the badges is verified, and the REAL badge requirements are what's listed in the support article. Sr. Designer Baryonyx posted this Q&A article discussing how the badge set is intended to be rewarded. Seems to me it's almost easier to try to earn this now. Last night's hotfix did NOT address the Master badge issue, so now's the time.

Quote:1. Depends on the team. On the most successful (but failed) runs I've had so far, we trusted the players to not kick it off, with universal success. YMMV however depending on the players.turg,
About the grenades, did you have 1 or 2 members(maybe the team leaders) hold all of the grenades(did you try to pass them around?). Also, do you want to lead one of the teams?
2. I could head up a team, but I'm still a noob as to where the boxes are located for the debuff weapons (I just don't know where). Kotchie's a pro at this from what I've seen, he'd be a better resource. Dr. Turg can inviso through and be a spotter for boxes, however. I have a macro that lets me find the blinkies relatively quickly if they're on-screen. -
Quote:See, general confusion, I can understand. It'll happen. If you invite people to a trial where it's "Master mentality in mind", you get less of it, but once in a while you get someone who *****'s, usually accidentally.Well, last night we had 3 MoLambda attempts, during the first one there was a bit of confusion, and we ended up using the temp powers.
The second run, everyone seemed to be on the same page, but one player went and used an acid on the NW corner door while everyone else was fighting the AV in the NE corner. Because I don't generally have names on the minimap and the offender was too far away, we couldn't even say who the offender was. The real shame was that we had Marauder down 18% in under 5 minutes at that point.
The last attempt we waited until there was about a minute left and 23% health before using the grenades.
(Heck, I boffed up a "Synchronized" attempt last night because I typo'd, quite inopportunely, with a "dropping box in 1-0 seconds" when I meant "10" (typing too fast during the fight, I hit the - and 0 keys together). It was a sad slip up on my part, and what's worse, I was the one who suggested coordinating. ;()
The difference of POV with you and Dark One is that he assumes the Master badge requirement is too balanced towards griefing. -
I think I can be there. Dr. Turgenev (@Turgenev), Illusion/Storm Controller, Lvl 50 +3.
Some strategy notes for you that I wrote up in another thread. Feel free to peel apart, mix and match.
Quote:Here are the ongoing theories:
1. It's bugged to where you HAVE to get the following three badges at the same time in order for ALL of them to qualify:
- Well-Stocked (acquire 10 grenades AND 10 acids but don't use them)
- Antacid (acquire 10 acids but don't use them)
- Lambda Looter (acquire 10 grenades but don't use them)
The fourth badge requirement awards independently and is not bugged:
- Synchronized (destroy a weapons cache and Incubation Pod within 2 seconds of each other)
2. (RUMOR) It's possible that the badge check daemon goes in to "count" how many temp powers people in the league have before it permits the badge reward. This means that if you get the power, don't delete it from your power list (but you CAN remove it from your power tray).
3. (RUMOR) This also means that, if someone has a grenade/acid in their inventory, and they happen to disconnect during the final few seconds, the badge system may not reward the players because it was unable to "count" the temp power in their inventory.
4. (RUMOR) This ALSO means that, since you can get the above-ground weapons drops, counting those might also interfere with the badge count for Master. Best advice here is to don't even bother to make the attempt on those caches - don't destroy the containers, and ignore them and their mobs completely.
Having said all of this, all the Master team needs to do is the following:
- Don't die. Death means downtime, and maintaining a steady DPS on Marauder is vital.
- If you're not lvl 53, you should be. If you're 51, it's a start; but especially if you're a pet herder, your pets will be at significant disadvantage vs these opponents. Get to lvl 53, and you diminish those negatives.
- Marauder appears to be vulnerable to Psionic damage. Seer pets are like MM pets: Target them on Marauder each time to help your DPS. The more Psi damage you have on your team, the easier this will technically be.
- Once everyone has the temp powers, ignore 'em, but have them parked and ready to throw "just in case" (I'll explain afterwards.)
- Bum-rush Marauder. The killzone the players will unleash on him will vaporize any enemy mob that enters it. He also hops away regularly, taking you away from any clustered mobs. It's actually amazing how much you can ignore the mobs once you get a good rhythm going.
- ...if you're in the last 30-60 seconds and you've got no hope for Master, you might as well pepper his butt with grenades to break Enrage. At least you can try to get the trial win reward. Do this ONLY with FULL team consent, however.
