  1. OP, since you have so kindly offered the potential of your artistic services, I'll provide some screens and hope you're amused! Sifting through my (many, many) alts, I settled on one with a more lighthearted backstory. Meet my DP/Poison corruptor, Axel the Brewsmith. Hope at least someone is amused

A dwarven engineer turned brew master, Axel found that his passion did not lie in the forgery or the smith's shop, as is most typical of dwarves. No, for Axel, his passion lies with the humble brew, and the perfection of the brewer's art. He turned his formidable mechanical talents towards developing the finest of kettles and stills, and searches high and low for the rarest and most flavorful of ingredients. Indeed, his passion led to his brews becoming renown throughout his homeland, and his humble establishment, the Singing Anvil, is a haven for travelers and seekers of fine refreshment.

Adventuring widely for better and better ingredients, Axel always carries his ingenious Backpack Brewery with which to test and formulate his next greatest creation. As wandering the world can be a dangerous endeavor, he has also crafted a fine set of pistols for defense (with which he has become quite proficient). An unexpected side effect of his brewing experimentation has led to the discovery that his various brews can have both helpful and harmful effects depending on their composition. Throughout his travels, this has proven useful for aiding wayfarers accompanying him on his travels and for befuddling foes.

Eventually, his search lead him across the boundaries of the worlds themselves. His latest sojourn has led him to what we call Primal Earth and its sister dimensions, continuing to seek the perfection of his art. Knowing that fine brew means good spirits and companionship, Axel has chosen to aid the Heroes of Primal Earth as he continues on his personal quest...
  2. Even a lurker knows when someone is devoted to bringing good vibes to the forums. We've definitely lost something with Lord of Time's passing. Here's hoping he's schooling the angels on all things geeky now

    Rest in peace!
  3. Gonna verify this one myself. Hope this gets fixed in the next cycle of patches!
  4. Castle, thanks for all your hard work in service of this community--don't forget that even the quiet ones among us appreciate how full you kept the Dev Digest and how positively you impacted the game. I missed BAB's goodbye (we all did, really) but I won't miss thanking you before you go.

    Farewell!
  5. Despite being an uberlurker, I figured this discussion was worth voicing my experience in.

    Why am I still here?

Character creation is unparalleled, that's my biggest guilty pleasure for sure. There's been very little I've conceptualized that I couldn't make happen in CoX (though I'm still waiting for our darn jetpacks ). But, it's more than that. This community is fantastic--been a member of two long lasting, outstanding SGs, and despite my late forum registration (dunno why it took me so long to get signed up to the live forums after beta) and low post count, I do read these forums an awful lot. What can I say, good vibes all around

I've even been lucky enough to have met a number of the devs over the years, and knowing that we've got such passionate and outgoing folks working on this game is great.

Despite waxing and waning playtime, I inevitably find my way back. A gaming landscape without CoX will sure seem odd, but fortunately that seems to be a long ways away!
  6. Just throwing my two cents in. The CoH panel had lots of cool info which has already been elaborated on, and the dev team as usual was awesome. I was lucky enough to have my number drawn to get a sketch from our own Noble Savage, and it was a cool experience. Not only is the sketch great (check out my sig for a link), but chatting with Noble Savage and War Witch while watching the sketch come to life was great fun.

Great show this year, devs, I look forward to next time!
  7. You know, it's funny. I asked about the separation of belts and tails at the Comic-Con panel last year, and it was just one of those "off the top of my head" kind of questions. Posi explained the whole node concept to me and the room and essentially said "maybe, but we're almost out of nodes, and we want to make sure that they're all used for unique, awesome stuff."

Cool to see that my question wasn't completely out of left field after all! My dragon girl will be very happy to get to wear a belt with her tail now...plus it'll be all swishy and stuff
  8. Eve la Croix, my Rad/DP Defender:

She's a monster hunter--BPRD style. I've colored the Rad powers to look like light and dark to correspond with buffs and debuffs, as if she's manipulating both divine light and the shadows. Thank goodness for power customization
  9. Obligatory "What's up, Doc?" reply!

Welcome, and don't forget--even lurkers love the devs too!

Or for some retro fun, combine the GvE jump pack with Ninja Run and use the same "bouncing through the air" method--instant Super Mario Bros. 3 invincibility fun! Well, minus the invincibility anyhow.
  11. So you take-what-you-will types won't mind "accidentally" intercepting communications in regards to poorly guarded Loyalist caches and facilities (that will undoubtedly have goods and tech far superior and more valuable than what those of us in the meager Resistance could scrape together), would you? I mean, I hope not, because I imagine the undrn3t will be rife with such opportunities for those who know how to listen.

    Just sayin'

Sorry, sometimes the l33tspeak gets out of hand I'll be sure to use shorthand in the future. Viva la resistance!

Also, is anyone else reminded of Invader Zim? "We are...the Resisty!"

Heh, I was there last night too and can verify this. It was pretty cool having the same people hop between zones as the event kept respawning. Actually, it was just nice that the event was spawning enough for this to happen in the first place!

  17. Things are different for Crey in the Rogue Isles, if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure I've even seen tourists in Nerva taking pictures of Crey employees!

Granted, it's probably a lot easier to get a positive PR spin when you're surrounded by sociopaths and megalomaniacs

    As am I.

    Any word on it yet?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yes, from the people who got a look at it at the Comics Con. You can mix and match; you can choose each animation for each power, and they can be different from costume slot to costume slot.
I was at Comic-Con and got to play with power customization. And yes, this is true, you can select animations (and colors!) on a power-by-power basis.

I16 can't get here soon enough
  20. Someone asked about whips at the Comic-Con panel...and Posi (if I remember correctly) said something to the effect of "If you like whips, you'll like the demon summoning powerset."

So yeah, between BABs and Posi that seems to be the only confirmed bit about demon summoning so far

You, good sir, have made this lurker's day
  22. The "Tech 1" shoulders (the ones that are flush with the upper arms) are no longer available under the "Robotic Arm 2" upper body category for the female body type. This combination disappeared after I7, I believe.

    Here's a screenshot:
    http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...boticarms2.jpg

I'd love to be able to create this combo again, but alas I cannot. Plus, I can't modify any existing costumes that have this combo without losing it!

Oh, and you can still do this with the male and huge body types, so I figure it must be a mistake that the female body type has lost this combo. Thanks oh Jay of uber sexiness!
