The UEBERMEPLZ slots are a very very bad idea...STF/LRSF/LGTF/ITF become *even* easier, and there will be an invisible discrepency between level 50 players, leading to more reluctancy to allow PuG people into teams, and a certain discrimination.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dont really agree with this arguement but i would like to see if the 10 uni slots bring more power to builds that extra layer of difficulty is added to the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But you agree that there would have to be something more difficult in order to warrent even more *perfecting* of characters? If these are added, and are more or less easy to obtain (i.e, not via the auction house/random drop rates), then the high end content will simply become easier and easier, if they have the impact the article implied

(heck, for all we know it could be a global jump height buff, or knocks 0.3s off fear effects )

What don't you agree with though TG? That there will be discrepency between 50s? (keep in mind that i'm talking very much from a PvE perspective, i'll leave the PvP speculation to you and your cadre ) Unless these are displayed somewhere, Hero 50 A, who has all 10 slots and they're maxed out, will severely out perform Hero 50 A-2. So for MoSTF/RSFs, and Co-op task forces, people will prefer the As to the A-2s.

(not all that clear, but i hope you get what I mean)

The whole Jumping Power pool is called Leaping.

    Jumping=Leaping

Hurdle=/=Leaping but it takes Jump IOs

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am guessing (please correct me if I'm wrong), but Hurdle doesnt accept leaping Set IOs, as the +stealth IO would make it perma. A touch broken (considering the other slotting options all have an end cost)
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Well that's down to the individual players. Given that today what a PvP'er or Farmer does doesn't interfere with how I play the game, that gravitas doesn't really matter, does it? It's just a choice that each player will approach on their own individual way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's very true, but PvP and Farming = optional gameplay choices based on the system we have. The way I see this, for it to have any real impact, would have to be backdated into existing story arcs. Thus, it's entirely unavoidable by those who don't PvP/Farm, and do the story arcs. In that event, what if these accidental/misread (in the way that Ravenswing implies) interpriations lead to locked out arcs, or having to go to paragon, just as you were getting excited about doing viridina's arc again.

I'm just concerned...none of this sounds like CoX, to me. It has the potential to a) Alienate long term players (bringing Tankers and Empaths to CoV, great...there goes my non rigid teaming), and b) Be a nightmare for badgers (if it happens the way I read it)

I have some faith that either, very little if any of this will go ahead, and that which does, is done in the manner things have been handled recently...because if this goes the way that article put it across (which came off very Rumour-mongery), then this subscriber's faith may come off a little more than shaken
  4. [ QUOTE ]

Never mind. When you've played a game set up like this and got hacked off with the mechanism you'll understand what I'm getting at.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*flashbacks of accidentally hitting a guard in Fable, or a trooper in KotoR, or simply misclicking a text choice*

Unless it's done *very* well, then all it's going to boil down to is a formulaic system that people will maniupulat to swap sides at will, with no actual gravitas at all. Guess we'll have to wait and see

    Entirely optional, I hope

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yea it will be, as i wrote "The idea is to create an options when you make you're character, to CHOOSE "Age Character""

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aye i saw that, maybe I was too cryptic in displaying my veiled dislike of the idea. But it's simply not my cup of tea. Maybe some people want to have a character storyline that spans an entire human lifespan..a baby fighting hellions, to an OAP taking on Recluse.

I for one would rather the devs spent their time on things that 99% of the player base won't overlook

Edit: what your suggest is in essence, can be recreated by going to icon every level. IF people care about it that much, that's *exactly* what they'll do
  6. It doesn't accept sets, no. The sets are called 'leaping', the value is called 'jump speed/height'

not exactly the most technical of jargon

  8. [ QUOTE ]
I'm okay to wait a bit for PCC, but if the choice is some half-baked morality system and PCC in a couple of months, or something which the devs think is great and I'll think sucks in a year, I'd rather they just forgot the morality system entirely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I echo that
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    Hello.

I got an idea i think would be somewhat cool

The idea is to create an options when you make you're character, to choose "Age Character"

The idea of the system, is that you get to choose, a level 1 size and a level 50 size, So as you level you character slowly grows bigger, kinda a Roleplaying suggestion, so when people first see you, you're a kid, and if they see you later at lvl 50, you're a full grown man/woman

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Entirely optional, I hope

Ten Universal Enhancement Slots are available to be earned in the expansion, and each one has the potential of adding significant power to the character, essentially bringing them to a hypothetical "Level 60" once they have earned all ten slots.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This worries me a great deal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, sounds like it'd have quite an impact on PvP, if not PvE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not only that, but the idea of 'badges' being rewarded for PCC arcs (as dave mentioned earlier, if not done well, will become a monopoly), is silly. Badges ingame atm are available to all players, all archetypes, with the right workaround/team/players. Badges based on PERSONAL OPINION of the entire playerbase, and REAL LIFE WRITING TALENT, is total [censored]. Extra unlockables (such as sig heroes) to use in further PCC arcs is enough of an incentive for those who enjoy that kind of thing
also restricting some depending on 'morality compass'- is an absolute nightmare for badgers. I have very strong concepts for my characters, and I simply do not want to break them to earn more badges...(but badges are *my* endgame, catch 22 etc...)

This seems extremely counter to the clear cut feel and atmosphere of each game, and I really do think the most extreme variants of this are best saved for a sequal.

But that's the badger in me talking. The rational person in me still thinks most of it is way too ambitious. The UEBERMEPLZ slots are a very very bad idea...STF/LRSF/LGTF/ITF become *even* easier, and there will be an invisible discrepency between level 50 players, leading to more reluctancy to allow PuG people into teams, and a certain discrimination.

Certainly something that NCSoft has put out there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I read it as a Survey of things people *want/expect* in an upcoming expansion. Most of the stuff i really don't want to see unless it's a brand new title (CoX2)...a lot of it is very counter to the appeal this game has for me.

  15. Very interesting idea. I like it a great deal.

Tradeable in person, yes...but perhaps a new kind of store...something not dissimilar to a 'tavern' or 'opium den', where you can buy clues (at a scaleable price)?
  16. Afaik, there isn't...but what you can do is below:
    Lifted from Paragonwiki

    /target_custom_next parameters

Cycles through matching targets in near to far order

    Parameters
    enemy - Hostile enemies
    friend - Friendlies (including pets)
    defeated - 0 HP targets
    alive - Living targets
mypet - Inlcude only your pets
    notmypet - Exclude your pets
base - Include only passive base items
notbase - Exlude passive base items
    teammate - Include only teammates
    notteammate - Exclude teammates
Everything else will match the name of the entity

Oh why oh why do plp join teams then complin about what the team is doing? Have the balls to ask what the team is doing befor you join and if they say freak mission's decline the invite.

Or more simple create your own team and do missions you want to do.

Wai are the villains not villains. This game should be called 'City of Scoundrals'

All we ever do is work for or against Arachnos. This isn't villainy, this is schtoopid. I wanna hit citizens and hurt people for no reason and continue to ignore the plot please.

The actual story is very engaging as it is. Why would PCC stop the people you mention doing 'freek papurz!'?

    [/ QUOTE ]

What story? In Paper missions? Thats a story?

    Interesting point of view.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Way to misinterprit.

Here's what i meant. You're upset that people choose the freak papers over the story arcs. They do this at the moment, that is your gripe.

My criticism was, why would player created content (i.e, potentially ever more well written arcs), change a damn thing about it, if they are already ignoring the story arcs in place?

Edit: you also clearly aren't familiar with MaX's posting yet, are you? :P
  21. Playing a trapper would be a tiny bit overpowered if you could just TP bosses into a plethora of traps.

If you plan to use it in PvP, it needs heavy range and acc slotting. in PvE, it's good for a running minion or so, but more or less uselss in the face of good pulling/positioning

There are separate "hidden to global friends" and "hidden to tells" options with the new system.

As I understand it if your friends are hidden to tells, but not friends (i.e. you!), you'll get the clearly inaccurate "may be offline" responses you've been seeing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's what I presumed too. I'm only ever hidden on searches, and they've got no hidden options on at all...yet the '@' is always hidden, and the local name never is :S

Nice guide, I play an Ice Corruptor not a Blaster but find myself agreeing with almost everything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ditto. Very well written and thought out. Kudos to you
  25. Any, to be perfectly frank. What are you finding hard?

    Blasters I recommend

    Fire/Fire = AoE carnage
Ice/Dev = A lot of mitigation, very different
Archery/Mental = a newer combo, interesting, and the *feel* of an archery toon can't be matched
