Elec/dark would work as well since the trials feature heavy energy damage.

Quote:Just restating this in case you are soloing it. My Earth/storm is one of my favorite builds ever, but there's no way I was going to solo it before 32.You are teaming no? I think most people agree that it not till 26 (which can be got to in an evening with certain friends) that it really kicks off.

So far it comes across as people asking questions, the player base answering those questions, and then the official CoH person pokes there head in once in a while offering nothing new in terms of info.

Unless you are OCD about the badges, roll the new version and you can get it PLed(yes, I know) to 50 quick enough so you can start working on IOing out the build so you deal with minimal time for not being able to play your "signature" character the way you want to. If you need the name as well, spend the ten bucks to change the old version to something new and then roll the new one.

It's threads like these that make me glad I'm staying VIP.

I haven't really played around with Shield too much to notice the various animations with other sets, however, I hated how KM/sd looked and I really wanted that set to work for me due to the stacking +dmg/-dmg. SD/ss so far looks really good although it's only at 20. I think most sets will be fine. It's just KM's two handed flashy animations that really get altered.

I think it would without merits cost you way more than you would be looking for as a target. In terms of influ, I would just play your 50 and work on your market skills. Work on getting A-merits to get some of the top end enhancements, craft them, sell then, and then buy the recipe on the market for even cheaper since people will pay you extra for the crafting part. After I IOed out my Kat/sr he has basically broke, but I didn't care since he was done. He's back up to around 150 million and one day away from having 2 A-merits where I can get something like a LotG: Def+recharge to craft and sell and that's with minimal casual play and he hasn't been 50 for that long.

Quote:Just remember when you are adding in epics Mace is going to have redraw to deal with. It's likely what makes Claws not beat out SS in high end builds. Not that you didn't.Based on my spreadsheet this is both true and false. Under optimal conditions (meaning hitting all targets of your AOE attacks and @ damage-cap) Mace would out-damage SS but Claws would still beat them both. If you adjust your targets-hit to reflect a more common result (as Bill has done with his Eviscerate numbers) Mace falls behind by around 100 dps.

Grab the level 42 and do speed ITFs. Yes, a first time person doing that TF won't want to speed through it, but it's a quick jolt in exp. All the more so when it's the W.T.F. I did one yesterday that was all of 20 minutes. Once you hit 45 all of the end game TFs are open to you outside of trials. A Khan TF is rather quick even doing a slow version of it. A LGTF can be done in speed form as well.

Quote:Energy is more of a ST based set where Rad is more AoE based. Energy also has better mitigation. I would switch to Ice if Energy created too much KB for a person. It also being rather easy to color close to Energy helps.I too really like Knockback, and would hate to see it diminished in any way.
If you want Energy Blast with no knockback, try Radiation Blast. You get bonus accuracy, 3 area attacks, a built in stun in your short range heavy hitter as a your status attack instead of the rather anemic Power Push that Blasters get.
The cone attack does a bit of knockback, but can be skipped.
You can colour it however you like, and the only advantage you lose is the mitigation provided by knockback. -
Quote:This. DB and Claws are king for the low level maps. SS is king of the higher stuff. */fire is going to work the best overall. Anything with a damage aura will work on a S/L level 2-3 map even if it's slower than Claws, or DB. You want to self PL a SS/elec? Make a level 2-3 S/L ambush farm and there you go. The beauty of a level 2-3 map is that you can build a normal non-farm build for it and it still works. The biggest thing about claws/fire right now is the availability of spin at level 6 and running the lowbie AE missions. Mace can still be used but it'll be slow until you unlock Whirling Mace at 18. The AOE is the kicker for the low level map. I think dual blades and spine are the best for the lowbie map. You could use dark but shadow maul's only going to dish out cone damage.

Quote:Now that you say that and I think about it, I've never rolled something that fell into those categories. Medieval knights and samurai are at least realistic. Cloud's sword? So what do you do when you come across a character with a medieval knight or samurai concept? Those things aren't any more part of the "traditional" western superhero genre than giant anime swords.
I hereby propose we lobby for the removal of shoulder kittens and anime hair from the game.
Quote:That said, I'll try to get at least a few things up, like this hilarious little peek at some moron ACTUALLY forging an insanely realistic version of the buster sword.
By now any JRPG fan is very familiar with Cloud Strife and his stupidly huge, completely impractical buster sword. I would even go as far as to say that the buster sword is practically synonymous with JRPGs and their (mostly completely accurate) stereotypes. Anyone wondering what wielding a sword that massive would be like will be glad to hear that the fool in the video below actually forged a realistic version of Cloud's iconic blade and, as expected, was completely unable to wield it.
Yep, that's totally the same as a samurai, or knight. -
Quote:Marvel loves grabbing the hot writer and having them write as much as possible. I'm really not surprised he's suffering from a certain amount of burnout. Also, I loved the original run of Powers, but at this point, looking at his Avengers books and all the other stuff he's doing for Marvel, I'm afraid that Mr. Bendis is running on fumes. But a paycheck is a paycheck, and I'm sure he'll be glad to take on a few more titles to hack out every month.

So maybe they should just rename it The Emu if Bradley Cooper is the lead.
-
But this is a western developed superhero MMO. Yes, they made a eastern version that went away. It still comes across as watching a scene from a Renaissance film and watching a guy in a space suit walk in.

I actually thought they were unrelated and just an image to put on there. I wasn't thinking those would actually be them. It slowly dawned on me that those where the images. Let's just say I'm not a fan.

Quote:The only time I have seen ATT being a bad thing is with it's recharge. If you get a couple of vets with it on a team then TTP becomes irrelevant. How has ATT affected the utility of Team Teleport? For the uses I've had for TTP, ATT wouldn't help at all.
EDIT: With the ability to buy certain vet rewards when F2P hits, then that just adds to TTP being less and less useful. -
For the sake of my sanity, please don't let these be anime wannbe over the top type swords. I will punch a kitten. Think of the kittens devs.

Anything beyond +1 if not +2 is merely proving you can do it, or PLing other people. Rewards/time is better done on lower diff settings.

Quote:Can a Dark brute keep up with a Claws, or SS? No. No matter how many AoEs you grab from your epic, SS and Claws add one, or two via their primary. Dark doesn't get that luxury. Can dm/fire really keep up with the damage of claws or ss? I know soul drain is a good buff, but rage seems much better and claws and ss have much better aoe damage. On my ss/fire I can keep up a chain of fire ball, foot stomp, burn, haymaker forever. Not to mention the recharge proc in foot stomp means that my damage buffs are up more often. Does the rage crash really hurt ss enough to where footstomp doesn't more than make up for it?
I understand that dm might add more survivabilty, but that isn't a factor when you get so many insps that you sit at defense cap the entire time not to mention all the greens and blues. I ran 5 or 6 +4x8 fire cyborg runs last night and didn't even use healing flames once.
What about FU and Rage? BillZ did the testing and found FU to be prohibitive since it added redraw. Some SS farmers admitted they didn't even need Rage as they rather skipped the no dmg phase.
Dark/fire farms decent enough to no worry about it. It can be debated that's it's the better overall build anyway. SS/fire brutes are like Stone tanks. Sure they are the best at what they do, but the need for that level of performance is rather small. An SG mate actually deleted his Stone tank that he loved getting to 50 once he figured out he could make other tanks perform good enough for the same content without the drawbacks.
