So true. I played WoW for a bit and it really made me appreciate my CoH travel powers.

I'm of the opinion that the majority of market based changes in the past few weeks were caused by the -1TF bug. Now that that has been fixed we should see the supply of level 50 PoolA recipes start to come back up.

(Now, after you've wiped whatever fluid you shot out of your nose upon reading this I will explain, lol)
I came to CoX after years playing a different MMO, one in which the auction house worked a little different. In that game there was more play in the bidding, if an item was selling for 5k you could bid less on it than that and still maybe get one. The sale went to the bidder who bid closest without going under to price the seller posted. in CoX terms, if I bid 1mil for a Numinas, I'm not likely to get it because most are selling for 50mil, but if someone who just didnt want to or couldnt pay the fee to post the item at 50mil and only posted it for 500k I'd get it with my 1 mill bid because i was closest to that 1 sale price. now, to change bidding strategies, sorry to have wasted the threads time, lol
Out of curiosity which game was this? It's an interesting mechanic (sort of an inverse "The Price is Right") but I wouldn't have thought it would be particularly good for the market. Seems to me there's strong incentive for a single person (or a group if there's a low bids/person limit) to place bids across a wide range of prices to ensure that you get it and at a low price.
  5. They weren't removed, they were renamed. I don't believe that the devs have stated why, but it was probably a copyright issue.

  6. The Ninja Run animation does look cool, although with Assault Rifle the position is a tad wierd.

Yep, the only real risk is if you don't spot it ahead of time and it decides to aggro a squishy. Most Tankers/Scrapper/Khelds can solo them easily enough (heck, my TA/A can solo one if EMP Arrow and Oil Slick are up)
  8. It's largely a tool for RPers. They've been asking for it for ages.
  9. One thing to understand is that you can run most TFs with almost any combination of ATs you want. There are some exceptions but they tend to be extreme (8 Tanks/Scrappers will have a very hard time with the first mission of KHTF for example). However there are some general things that I look for when forming a TF to make things run easier. In general I take whomever shows up but this is somewhat written assuming a less tolerant leader than me.

Defenders are always desirable on a TF. They force multiply well and add good damage. To a large extent you can pretty much pick your primary. Based on what I've seen in game I'd say that the top three in terms of popularity for TFs are probably Rad, Kin and Emp. My personal top three would probably be Dark, Rad and Storm (with the disclaimer that Storm is very difficult to use well so a lot of people distrust stormies). In general though there are no bad defender sets, they all have something to offer a team.

Similarly to Defenders Controllers are popular since they also have good force multiplication. Personally I like Ill, Earth and Plant although in general there is less demand for particular sets with controllers than with defenders.

Tanks are ok. A Tank isn't needed for most TFs but it is useful to have one along and the generally low Tank population means that you should be able to find TFs reasonably easily. The only Tanker defense set that really tends to stand out is Stone which does have a higher level of survivability than other sets which makes it popular with a lot of people. Personally I find that pretty much any tank works for most TFs so I'd say pick one that you like.

Scrappers and Blasters are generally welcome on any TF. The main thing is that there tends to be much higher population of these ATs on at any time so there is more competition. Additionally when I'm recruiting through search I'll rarely bother looking for Scrappers and Blasters. I'd much rather fill the team with Controlelrs and Defenders who will bring both damage and controls/buffs/debuffs instead of just damage so most of the Blasters/Scrappers on the team are recruited through global channels or if I still have spots after working through the defenders and controllers.

Kheldians are always welcome on my teams for the added flexibility if nothing else however there are some people who refuse to invite them due to their fear of the deadly cysts . I tend not to directly recruit them for mostly the same reasons as Scrappers and Blasters (along with the fact that there normally aren't many on.

I'd send back a tell explaining that I slot DOs since SOs are to expensive.

The Heal and the Heal/End can come from both Bronze and Silver Rolls. I would say that the Silver roll is slightly better than the Bronze for this since it also gives you a shot at the End/Rech which is on the Silver but not the Bronze. Of course the Bronze is probably better for making money off of your other rolls.

Well as Fulmen's said try placing bids across a range of levels and wait. In particular place bids on level 49 for the End/Heal and Heal ones. The recent slew of bugged TFs means a lot of level 50s are fighting level 49s so those two might show up there. For the other ones you're most likely to get them at level 50 since they come as mission complete bonuses and merit rolls.

Also out of curiosity what build are you doing? The options I can see are a melee toon that is taking health and 3 medicine powers and triple slotting for the health and regen bonuses or an empath/pain dominator that took 3 health/medicine powers and is four slotting for the improved heal. I would say you're trying to softcap but you said you don't need the proc so that rules out 6 slotting two powers.
  13. You can buy them directly with merits but that's not really practical (they range from 125 to 250 each depending on the recipe). You can also get them with random rolls of either tickets or merits but honestly rolling for a specific recipe is low odds. Silver rolls can give you the Heal/End, End/Rech and Heal, Gold rolls and Merit rolls can give you the other three.

Are you buying them at a weird level? If you're buying at level 50 I'd say put some bids up at WW for a few days and see what happens. Even if there isn't currently any stock most reasonable bids for level 50 recipes will get filled in 24-48 hours (or the next weekend at the latest).

Let´s face it, both bare hands and feets are damn ugly anyway, it´s not like placing fingers in that would make that much of a difference...
Except that the way weapons work is that normally it displays your regular hands then when you activate a power it adds a weapon costume part to a particular node that coincides with your hands and shifts your hands into a default position (in the case of dual pistols this means fists). So to make a finger based weapon costume part the devs would need to size it so that is completely conceals your fist without clipping errors and would need to restrict it to certain glove parts or accept that players could have a rather silly looking costume.

It's important to note that the fingers extended option is VERY, VERY different from a wider selection of guns. Different guns are basically costume pieces so the devs have to create the gun model but once they are created they slot into the existing powers seamlessly (barring clipping problems). The pointing fingers option cannot use the costume piece option and would require the devs to make up a whole new set of animations for dual pistols that would only be used by people who wanted the no-guns finger pointing option. Now with power customization this is possible but it's a lot more work for the devs than most of the suggestions here.
  16. Well it's not avaialble at creation but the Vanguard helmet looks a bit like the Sky raider one (it sticks out the back at least),

They may or may not get upset about it, but the message would have artificially limited your responses due to the qualifier.
That is a valid point which is why I mostly prefer to use general looking for X members. However the inverse is also true, there are players who are shy and worry about teaming (possibly combined with a fear of rejection), if you put that you're looking for something specific and they match it they're more likely to respond than they would to a general LFM.

For the most part I'm happy to run TFs with pretty much whomever turns up (there are a few exceptions, for example I'm not going to run KHTF with 8 melee characters). Unlike Dechs most of the time I'll even take a pure healer if they want to come (because extra challenge settings are fun and mentally mocking them amuses me [yes, I'm a mean person]).
  19. Cool. Anyone gotten it yet want to post the stats on Ninja Run?

Nine times out of ten, if I'm on a TF, I started it. I don't throw "ITF looking for tank, debuffs, and healer" all over the globals. I say "ITF with room for x." I know that any team of 8 should be able to accomplish anything in the game (provided at least 4 know what they're doing).

Sometimes I get tells asking what to bring to which I always reply "Whatever you feel like."

Every once in a while I get a "Do you need a healer?" tell. My reply is usually "Sorry, just filled up."
While there is truth in that I find that including specifics will often help fill a team faster. For example last night I was trying to fill a team for a Dr. Kahn TF. Saying in globals that I had 2 spots left didn't get me anyone, saying in globals that I had 2 spots left and would really like a Rad defender got me 4 radiation defenders. For popular things (such as ITF) general looking for X members work fine but when that doesn't fill the team being more specific helps. My theory is that it makes people feel special, knowing that you are THE RAD (or THE TANK or THE DAMAGE DEALER etc) is cooler than knowing that you are Number 6 (yes, it's a deliberate reference).
  21. You might try the base construction forum. I believe a couple of people there set up bases specifically as a salvage museums with one of each type before the devs removed base salvage from the game.
  22. Well I'm the team leader more often than not so in the case you posit I'd take it happily. Leading a team is easy just point your minions in the direction of something that they can attack and let them at it.

I'd prefer a more generic bio-weapon. The Rularuu ones are cool but they're also rather specific (plus I personally dislike the eyes in them).
  24. The basic problem is the same one encountered with just about any consumer product. Most people do not read the manual until they encounter a problem that forces them to do so. The Devs could add an NPC that explains everything in excruciating detail but however it's implemented most people will not bother to read it until they encounter something that they can't figure out on their own.

While I agree that it would be good if this stuff was documented in game for complicated subjects like this reading about it on a wiki (with links and cross-referencing) is easier than trying to read NPC dialog in game anyway.
  25. This has been bought up quite a bit, it's a good idea but don't expect to see it anytime soon. Although as vega noted it would really need to be accompanied by a reject/cancel buff mechanism for those whose dislike certain buffs (mostly speed boost and fire shields for performance reasons).
