  1. Re: Blasters are fine the way they are now!

Let me ask you: Did you think they were fine before Defiance 2.0? Because the Devs stated several times that datamining showed that Blasters were the slowest levelers in the game because they were dying the most and all that debt was slowing their leveling. This despite the fact that *some players* were able to play them well without all that dying. But among *all players*, the AT was underperforming.

That is objective proof that, compared to other ATs, Blasters were the weakest link. That's why they got Defiance 2.0 to address their inherent which encouraged them to die (get low HP to get more damage!) and to address mezzed-death (can still use low tier powers while mezzed).

Did that work? I don't know. The Devs have not revealed that info. But I'm willing to guess that any benefit from Defiance 2.0 was minimal and Blasters are still the slowest levelers. The Devs don't grant AT-wide buffs to ATs at the top of the performance list. That would be crazy and create City-of-That-One-Best-AT.

Despite the fact that some find they play *well,* datamining is probably telling the Devs all the other ATs play *better*. And that's why you buff them.

Ah, good. All blaster attacks will now do Mag 6 Knockback.
  3. Open up team window. Are you in TF mode (which often happens when leaving a Magisterium Trial)?

Yeah, we'll get the Seattle web team right on that.

    What can go wrong?

    "Hi,

I have just rolled my first Gravity Dom, and I was curious about Dimension Shift since the new changes. My main question is this.... How easy is it to aim? I like the sound of the power alot, and was hoping to mainly use it for soloing and splitting up awkward spawns.

To explain what i mean..... If you had say 4 minions and a Leitenant standing around with a few feet between them, when you aim it, do you get a recticle to see exactly where the intangable zone is, or do you just get a centre point, and guess roughly who will fall in and out of the zone? In other words could i easily split maybe the leitenant and 1 minion inside, and the rest outside?

If you could place it exactly, then you could maybe split the spawn, some in some out, and that could be a nice control, tool. I am so hoping this ability is now usful, but just needed a little more info on how accurate you can be with it...

    Thanks in advance!"
Copy your character to Test or Beta and try it out there to see if you like it.

I don't really care when things get changed, but I hate seeing excuses made on other people's behalf.
While I agree that pre-announcements can be made the day before they leave the office, I disagree that this is as big an issue as you seem to make it.

  9. Yah, in the other thread, you were told that you can get by without a MM or Defender... but not so much on a Masters run where you can't pop out some Shivans or drop a Warburg Missile on him for the massive DPS you need when Unbreakable isn't up.

In general, I would never do a Barracuda w/o a Def/MM, Masters or not.
  10. Switching the time also means that they can throw up the announcement page within a few hours of the change rather than half a day later.

Ah, I'm not characterizing other people's post as that, I'm characterizing my post as that. I'm more than willing to demonize them for allowing the UI to become so whacked up and for continuing to delay Power Pool customization.

And I lay it all at Production's feet (it's you're problem, now, War Witch!). Production has never properly supervised the art department's care-taking of the costume creator interface (along with checking in with the patch notes process and fixing long time costume bugs), and they have not given Coding the go ahead to make Power Pool customization happen. Since power customization was introduced, there has been a lot of other stuff that has entered the game which I would gladly trade away for Power Pool customization. They're just not prioritizing it.

And just like I said when I crushed poor BAB's spirit after he worked so hard on it, I will say again: Power Customization is an unfinished, and therefore, poor job. Until it is truly finished it gets just a C- from me.

The only reason why I'd vote CoH's character creator better than the others (and I did) is because the others have even greater faults that make them Fs in comparison to CoH. If they took care of their glaring faults, they'd jump ahead of CoH.
  14. Post in which CoH is lionized for its very deep costume options and power customizations and demonized for counterintuitive UI and lack of Power Pool customizations.

    You, know, the usual.

Also, they did indeed made an attempt to rebuild the base system from the ground up... and wound up with a system that was not qualitatively better than what was in place, so, they scrapped it. That was a lot of code-hours (and money) for nothing.

So, the upshot is that CoH would have to as stupid-popular, and therefore, stupid-rich as WoW for the studio to throw more money on another attempt to re-do the base system.

And the current one is a house of coding cards ready to topple if you tried to do almost anything to it.
  16. Just issue a challenge to your server to see how few pimped out incarnates can take out pylons. Just post something like this:

"I'm able to take out 11 pylons before they start respawning. I'm wondering if anyone can solo the Mothership?"

And before you know it, ever pylonista will converge on RWZ and start tearing out pylons. Once they're all down, drop into the middle of the bowl and grab the badge.

    Snipe Hunting?

We've been promised the Snipes are undergoing some sort of change (buff? dropping interruption? dual-purposed like the new Assassin Strike? charge up power? extra kitten damage? <shrug>).

And we've been promised the Blaster Sets in general are getting some sort of adjustments (probably more kittens).

And we've been told it's not crashless nukes for all.

    Stay tuned for I24.

Heh, how many times do we see super villains get their super powers while being executed?

Which brings up an interesting paradox in the 'supers universe', namely, supervillains who kill get either super-high maximum security prisons, or, the insane asylum. Meanwhile, petty normals who kill one person in a robbery get the chair.

As for the morality of the death penalty, just about everyone agrees that if it does exist, only the state after due deliberation and a fair trial has a right to use it. Vigilantes who make themselves judges and juries are never acceptable.

The exception to individuals using lethal force is self-defense and police/military personnel who need to use it to stop someone else using lethal force. If the perpetrator isn't using lethal force, or there is a relatively safe way to disarm or capture, then lethal force may not be ethically used.

So, what Superman does is squeaky clean ethically (except that too often he doesn't move the fight away from civilians soon and often enough -- he could punch and run 'taunting' the baddies to an unpopulated area).

As far as the ethics of the death penalty, there is a middle ground between "sure, kill them" and "no, never kill them", namely, "kill them if they can't be safely incarcerated." This is what I call the Gilligan's Island rule: If Gilligan killed MaryAnn and Ginger and attempted to kill Mrs. Howell, but the islanders stopped and captured him; they would have to execute him because a bamboo prison wouldn't hold him indefinitely. This is actually the position of the Catholic Church which most people think is in the "never kill" camp. If society has apprehended someone who is a danger to others and can incarcerate them, then you can't execute. But, if incarceration is not possible, the the state has a right to stop future killings it has no other means to prevent by executing the killer.

This has serious implications for super powered villains. E.g., though the (modern killing) Joker is insane; he is not really able to be kept incarcerated; thus, he should be executed. But, you might say, "Send him to the Phantom Zone!" Bah, the Phantom Zone has a revolving door that spins faster than Arkham's.

I did try to get them to do that when I got them to tie-in all the Ferries and BHs and add new BHs. My mind control powers are not that extensive.... yet.

Of course, adding (H)s to the mini-map is going to make the mini-map pull-down menu even more unwieldy than it already is. I gave them suggestions to fix that too...

    Even *if* it's a bug?

It *is* a bug, no matter how much you want to overstate your 'evidence' in order to make your case.

The 16 target cap on Notice of the Well hit players as well as pets. That was an unintentional mistake aimed at neither player nor pets. If there were no pets but 24 players on the Magi League, 8 of the players would not be level shifted. That has *nothing* to do with pets.

Once it was pointed out, it was immediately slated for a fix; which is evidence that it definitely *is* a bug. So, hardly a sleight against MM pets intentionally or part of some imagined systemic anti-MM-pet agenda.

BTW, MM pets have been pretty much been made immune to the Keyes' zone-wide damage pulses and AM's green cylinder of death. For that iTrial, MMs have a clear advantage over other ATs.

My MM is T4'd in all incarnate slots (except Hybrid simply because I haven't had the time yet) and is my secondary iMerit farmer. MMs can be successful in all iTrials; some trials more so than others, but, I find that to be true for all ATs.
